OzBargain NSW Solar Feed in Tariff (Fit) Tracking

hello, few similar threads but unable to find NSW specific one, so here is hopefully good for people who need it.
Triggered by: recent plan/price changed by AGL (i'm with them at the moment), and i may have found the best one. see below.
good luck!

im with AGL, old solar plan so i get 12c uncapped no conditions.
for new customer i believe you only get 10c for the first 14kWH then 5c thereafter

edit/update:
i have decided to move from agl to glo.
if anyone need referral, hit me up. ($50 for each of us after paying first bill).
you can sign up online, or over the phone. process is very easy, customer service in melbourne

You need to check the rate they are charging as well, no point getting 10% extra feed in, but paying double when drawing from the grid.

      • Seems uncapped but the rates are pretty steep for any usage from grid
        Daily supply $1.69
        Peak usage $0.44 kWh

        • +1

Daily supply will differ depending on underlying supplier
Eg ausgrid daily supply isn't that high

          • @SBOB: Agree i compared with my agl bill they are very similar around 99cents daily usage i think

They have a higher daily usage and slightly higher usage charges than some.
I just moved to them yesterday as discovery energy dropped their fit rates.
Due to my relatively low usage and higher feed in, their 20c fit current deal works out much better for me over a year (worse now in winter but the $50 sign up referral bonus offset that)

Fit are trending forever downwards so for to take advantage of the best deals at the time while you can.

Hi ChiMot, Thanks for creating this useful thread. Globird's 20c FIT sounds great. Did you go with them or found any catch? Cheers

      • Compare bill form doesn't work with any browser. If i start at the bottom, once getting to the top it blanks the 'Total Off Peak Usage' and 'Total Shoulder Usage' fields.

Starting from the top, once you get down to these fields they cannot be entered into. GG…

        • Sorry, what?

          • +1

@CyberMurning: Click 'compare my bill' at the bottom of their website and try and enter data in all the fields.Try it for yourself.

Enter all fields except for 'Number of days'. Then when you click into and try to enter 'number of days' the form then blanks the last two fields.

Using energymadeeasy.gov.au however to look for better deals however returns Globird will provide savings of nearly $200/3months on both my electricity and gas.

            ===================

            Electricity:

            AGL: $76
            Globird: -$100

            ===================

            Gas

            AGL: $106.65
            Globird: $90

  • Be aware solar generation will be lower in winter. You may be worse off if you're paying excessively high daily supply and usage rate.

    • Not only during winter but at any time during the year when it is wet and pouring eg. first 5 months this year in Sydney.

      • True. I was getting reasonable generations though which is surprising considering the rains. Winter however will definitely reduce that simply due to shortet and darker daytimes.

  • Makes you wonder what the point of solar is now, was getting 21c with origin now 8c with elysian, and they have just jacked prices with less included kWh from 20/5.
Not sure if to stick or swap.

    • The point of solar is that it covers your own usage first. So, if you are a heavy user during the day or can move your usage to use during the day; then you dont have to pay the ever increasing usage rates.

      • sure, but not everyone uses up the lot, even if have office and 2-3 home during the day

        • For some, including myself, there will always be excess and the lack of good FIT rates is a net negative impact for us.

          • @delfredo: thank you for replying to my 5 week old comment lol

  • Also with AGL, 12c FiT, uncapped. Usage 0.15c no peak, daily supply of $1.20. Net exports of anywhere from 350kw a month to 750kw. Would love a cheaper daily supply but do fear being put on a capped export plan!

  • Why not just use https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/ enter in your NMI and boom it will show you the cheapest rate for your usage. FWIW I was also getting 21c FIT with AGL and then they dropped it to 8c and bumped up the rates!?

    • I have done that there some weird mobs I have never heard off in the top listings.

      AGL telling me 10c for first 14kwh then 5c after, Peak c/kWh 37.444, Shoulder c/kWh 36.399
      Off peak c/kWh 19.646
      Supply charge c/day 171.512

  • Anyone with momentum energy, $1.12 DSC, 35c 29c 19c, 7c FIT

    • fit is very small

      • they all are now it seems, 7-10c

  • Just spoke to AGL and I’m on 12c FIT but it’s up to a 10kw system? I have a choice of going over 10kw but then FIT is reduced 5c.

  • just doing further comparison agl vs glo (im in south west, Endeavour)

AGL general usage flat is $0.25102 (incl. gst) - solar saver plan, FIT rate 12c
GLO general usage after first 20kwh is $0.3589 (incl. gst) after discount, solarplus plan, FIT rate 20c

using latest bill, still better off with GLO but big difference in usage rate make me a bit worry.
yes i am low in using, more in generating (therefore GLO FIT rate 20c helps alot)

    • Also a high export user on agl’s now $0.12 uncapped.

Using glo rates I worked out we are better off by about $480 per year but I’m also hesitant to change for if/when their plans and rates change, we cant get back onto an uncapped plan which will end up costing more in the long run.

Our export is 14000 per year so average 38 per day.

      • glo said new customer most likely get 6 months at least at same rate (but no written guarantee) and this is no lock in contract so free to change.

i need to clarify this as well:
GLO general usage after first 20kwh is $0.3589 (incl. gst) after discount,
that is in a day so most people will not have to pay this rate.

  • I am on the AGL demand setup.

So I have a bit of an unknown in my bill each month with the demand while i try to minimise usage in the demand windows.

The rates are a supply of $1.03 and usage of 13c/kWh for peak, shoulder and off peak (yes all the same). FiT is 5c (I only got solar in April.)

So the make or break is the demand charge which if i can summarise as succinctly as possible is calculated as follows:

Take the highest 30 minute usage (based on smart meter periods) during the demand period over an entire month.
    Double it.
    Multiply by the demand rate.
Multiply by the number of days in the month.
Add to bill for that month.
Repeat for all months that ended within the billing period.

  • Hi. Is anyone following this in 2024?

AGL is discontinuing bright plan and FIT dropping from 17c to 5c

    According to solarchoice
Gloenergy may be best in NSW at 12c for first 8kWh per day, then dropping down to 3.0c

Would love to hear any current recommendations cheers

  • Pfft gloenergy is only 4c when you go through to a quote. Found this thread
and energymadeeasy.gov.au which suggest Sumos measly 8c is best option but I can't find feed in tariff on their website. I also found QLD getting 44c wtf energy not easy in NSW!
