Obligatory no GPS (in case you use this to play POGO).

    • +1

      No GPS?

Then why are they advertising it as having it..

      Mm

    • The 2021 version (with Snapdragon 870) doesn't have GPS. This is the 2020 version (with Snapdragon 730G), which does appear to have GPS.

  • +1

Can we use this pad as extension monitor of a laptop?

    • Think Clear may have said yes in a past deal, as it has USB 3.1.

    • Only Lenovo yoga pad pro has HDMI input? Not really sure. But some Apps can do. eg, Duet, spacedesk. Can use on any Android pad or phone.

    • Lenovo Yoga Pad Pro can do HDMI input with its 13" 2K 60Hz display. I'm hoping to have a deal soon.

  • This or the Mipad 5?

    • +1

Lenovo provides zero OS updates, seems the Mipad5 is going to get Android 12 and 3 years of updates if that matters to you.

      • +1

        Ah, good to know. Thanks.

    • +3

      Oh that mipad5 looks good…

Why is it when someone posts a tablet sale .. others suggest other things which make it so confusing.. lol

  • +3

Thanks Clear, love your work on these deals.
Constantly tempted, but haven't settled on one yet.

Sorry if this has been asked/answered on another deal, but are there any good iPad Mini competitors to be found?

    • Lenovo Legion Y700 looks good…. just need a good price

    • +1

I'm waiting for the new VIVO Pad to become more available so discounts will happen. Like the Lenovo Y700 it is a China-only release at the moment but the specs are quite impressive. Vivo's Android skin called OriginOS has a striking resemblance to iOS which is pretty typical for CN forks like MIUI and Lenovo's ZUI.

Main standout features of the VIVO Pad is Qualcomm 870, 8GB RAM, 128/256GB storage, 8040mAh battery with 44W fast charge, NFC and mobile phone screen mirroring.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply! I'd love something more budget-oriented, I suppose I should have simply specified the smaller screen size!

I'll certainly be keeping my eyes peeled as things become more available regardless.

        Thanks a bunch.

        • The issue is that there's really nothing besides the Y700 below 10" at the moment.

      • I don't even need tablet atm but Y700 is tempting. Hopefully is get more widely release and more discount

  • +1

One of these days I'm going to pull the trigger.

    • Funny enough I don't own any of these tablets except a Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus from 2017 which is still going strong. 8", 4GB/64GB, Snapdragon 625 and Android 8.0.

      • I thought you use (and own) the Blackview Tab 11 as per what you said in the item description -> "Out of all the Android tablets I've shared the last few months this is the one I'm currently using." -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/696284

        • Correct. I was referring to Lenovo.

  • Android 11 via OTA

    Is this easy to do?

    • +1

Over the air update, so it's a normal Android system update.

  • +2

Clear is the undisputed champion of tablet deals!!
I'm ready to pull the trigger on a P11 pro 2021 with the SD870 and 90hz. Any deals for that one?

    • +2

Yep literally dropping one in a few minutes.

    • No HD on Amazon Prime, No GPS, you need to re-format the external SD card now and then because it stops working from the tablet (it can be read in other devices). Other than that, the 2021 is a great tablet, good quality materials, fast and the screen looks great.
If you use vanced youtube, there are some issues with microg but it works at the end.

      • Thanks for the feedback!
I've heard about the first 2 issues, first time to hear issues about the microSD. In any case, I will use it mostly for browsing/reading. Dark mode on OLED is pretty much the main the thing I'm looking for! (And once you go over 60hz, you can't go back lol)

      • L1 should be fixed end of this month.

  • +1

I pulled the trigger on a P11 just yesterday but this one is really appealing for the price and upgraded OLED display.

How easy would it be to cancel my order and buy this one instead?

Edit: I've sent the cancellation for P11 and ordered this one. Hopefully I don't end up with both!

    • I'd suggest starting a chat with the previous seller also to make sure they actually cancel it and not just ignore your request.

      • The good thing is that it's the same seller.

I did just that at the same time as I cancelled the order on the app and asked that they cancel order XYZ since I bought the other one. I got an auto reply that they'll aim to reply 10-19 Beijing time.

        • +1

I want to do the same (cancel the P11 and order this Pad Pro) , how did you chat with them? I cancelled my P11 but also want to notify them I have ordered this instead. EDIT: I opened the chat window and told them to cancel because I will order the Pad Pro instead

    • They didn't cancel my 1st order so now I got both tabs on the way!

      • (I thought I posted an update but I probably didn't press post)

I had the exact same thing happen to me. They packaged and sent both yesterday during the day and only replied to my message past 6pm aest, saying they were sent.

If I want to return one, I have to reject delivery on the right one and then wait until they receive it for the refund.

        Still unsure what I'll do

        • Did you end up receiving both tablets? I just got the 2nd one today (Pad 11") and will probably gift it to someone because I'm sure the return postage will be at least $20. Are you having any problems playing stuff on the Amazon Prime app on the Pad Pro? I keep getting an error message when I go to play a movie. The only way I can watch something on Prime is through the web browser.

          • @[Deactivated]: The pad pro got here a couple weeks ago and been loving it. I just made the dumb mistake of setting it up with my account only to then need to reset it to change the country code.

I'm still waiting for delivery on the other one. Tracking says it arrived in Australia the 29th. My plan is to decline delivery to not have to pay return postage. Hopefully I can plan to be home when that happens.

Tbh Prime might be the one streaming app I own that I haven't tested on it. So far I've used Netflix, Paramount and Stan no dramas. I will check tonight when I'm back from work. What error have you been getting?

            • @betoyg: I'm also happy with the Pad Pro except for this issue with Prime Video. Here is the error message I get when trying to play any movies:
              https://i.imgur.com/zxF1sGj.jpg
I've been chatting with Aliexpress and they say the Pad 11 can be returned for no reason within 15 days. I'm now trying to find out if I have to pay the postage, or if they will pay it. Did you have problems with Netflix? I had to sideload the apk before it would work
One other thing I've noticed is that it won't charge with a super quick charger, only a quick charger or normal charger

            • +1

@betoyg: Return postage is free after you confirm delivery and open a dispute - they give you a free post label

              • +3

                @[Deactivated]: Sweet! Thanks for that.

Ok so update on the Amazon Prime issue: I was having the exact same issue as you. Amazon Prime would only play content when hardware acceleration was disabled, which meant it would only stream in SD and not HD. After scouring the net for an answer, I came about this topic in the Lenovo forums that covers it quite a lot. (as you can see it was first reported in January and seems it was only fixed recently).

I was originally able to fix Netflix with these instructions: be wary that they do a factory reset on your tablet - thx to @Clear for adding them on the post.

After much trial and error I have now managed to fix it and can play HD video in Prime and I'd imagine this has also fixed Netflix. Basically the DRM used to play video in HD was downgraded when I upgraded to Android 11. The security level is meant to be L1 but it was showing as L3 (You can check this in your tablet with an app called DRM Info. Even after updating to the latest version discussed in the Lenovo forums, it was sticking to L3.

So what worked for me in the end was:
                * Update to the latest firmware from Settings > System > System Update. Latest version should be TB-J706F_S630301_220518_ROW
                * Did the country code change steps once again (Type ####6030# in the Settings search, select Australia). Once again, this will factory reset your tab
                * Once this was done, I went through the initial set up once again and checked the security level with DRM Info. Confirmed it was L1 and then proceeded to set up the rest of the apps, such as Netflix and Prime Video, both working perfectly.

                Hope this helps!

Now I just have to finish setting everything else again! -_-

Edit: I haven't really tried it on a super quick charger. Seems to work OK with the same charger as my Note9 charger and can't be bothered moving cables around too much so I just set one to charge and use the other.

                • +1

@betoyg: Awesome work - thanks a lot for the super clear instructions. I've followed your guide and now have all apps working fine, including Prime Video and Netflix

                  • @[Deactivated]: Awesome to hear! Thanks to you for the steps on returning the other one. I just received it today and have started the return process.

                • @betoyg: Thanks for the clear instructions. I would like to pull the trigger on the non-pro P11 posted by https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/144344
However, not sure if this would work on the P11 - do you or @transit know if it works on the P11 (if you've decided to keep the extra one that AliExpress sent you).

                  • @jjtav: I've actually sent it back since I couldn't find anyone that wanted to keep it. Not really sure either if it would work on P11 regular.

                    • @betoyg: Thanks. I've been following the long rants on the Lenovo forums for a week or two and the Lenovo moderators seem really unsympathetic to P11 (non-pro) customers and Xiaoxin (pro or non-pro) customers. Their standard response seems to be that the OTA fix is only applicable to the official P11 Pro. I don't understand this, isn't Xiaoxin a Lenovo subsidiary ?

                      • @jjtav: Yeah some of the mods are pretty crap. This has to be my favourite response on all the rants I read.

"Hi, this is an illegal operation, selling china products to WW, some issues will appear and Lenovo is not obliged to take responsibilities for such items. Please contact your retailer."

But I bought it from the official Lenovo store in AliExpress so WTF?

                        • @betoyg: That was classic. What I don't understand is that they're branding Lenovo as Xiaoxin in China. But to @Clear's point, the "Official Lenovo Store" in AliExpress is just reseller's name apparently. They can pillage any name they want even though they are not affiliated with Lenovo.

                          • @jjtav: Ah yes, that makes sense. No idea why they'd change the branding but it probably helps them sell. Definitely makes sense on the reseller as there'd be no such a thing as copyright there, right?

  • This Pad Pro model is better with Android 11, faster CPU (Snapdragon 870), bigger battery (8600mAh) and better camera but US$80 extra:
    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003844443565.html

    • That model is cheaper via https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/699221

And while it might be a better tablet, for what I'm going to use mine for I couldn't justify the extra 30% in cost.

      • Yes I saw that after posting and agree it's not worth paying the extra for slightly improved specs

  • Picked one up, thanks Clear. Received a fake 'your paypal account signed in from a new device' scam sms six hours later also, this happen to anyone else?

    • it's not a scam, you probably paid from your phone or PC

      • I'm 99% sure it wasn't a legit text, the number it came from and the number it recommended me to call both come up as dodgy when I searched them.

  • Paid $400AUD today after GST and all fees. Cashback expected at $19AUD through cashrewards.

  • Did anyone get cashback even when you used promo codes?

    • Yes as long as it's an affiliated item I've always got cashback. Once the order arrives you must mark the order as received in AliExpress.

      • Let's hope can do a manual track claim, coz it didn't track
