Is there some commercial agreement between yourself and shppngtrlly com au? You have started inserting links to their deals in your deal posts.

this but 14 inch with a better battery = beautiful

  • 5800U zen3 based is better i reckon or wait for 6000U series one's

    • Yeah the 5700u being zen2 is essentially a 4700u with hyperthreading and a consequently much higher tdp. It's not a bad chip, but it's worth noting.

Seems like a solid value. Although I'm not sure about the colour accuracy of the display.

  • Does anyone knows if it is a touch screen or not.

    • Not a touch screen.

      • Thanks

  • +1

Would so buy this if the screen can be nearly 2k resolution. full HD on 15" is a bit of a stretch

  • Any chance for a deal on an IdeaPad with the same specs?

  • what a terrible I/O

    • The IO is pretty standard for the Thinkpad E-series, it is a budget SME / business laptop. The next tier up is the Thinkpad L, then T or X series but you're looking at $1300~1500 budgets

There is still a USB 2.0 port because they have gone for a lower end motherboard chipset which doesn't have as many PCIE lanes.

'I managed to negotiate another $100 off this laptop'
Had a chat with Lenovo rep, apparently, he asked me order number for him to offer $100 discount to me
OP, would you be kind enough to share order number please?

The coupon gives you the $100 off.

alternatively if you have access to Lenovo education portal, E14 gen4 is a bit cheaper than this with EDUCOMM code

has zen3 cpu, and I think the screen is better on gen4

    • Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I kind of like the numerical keypad on the 15”. Do you think it would be better to get yhe E15 gen 4 compared to this deal? Do you know the major benefits? (Also, anyone find one with the control button in corner, not the function key?)

      • re. the control vs FN key, you can swap the behaviour of the two in Lenovo Vantage app

that's essentially the difference between E15 and E14:
        - larger screen (same resolution) on E15
        - as a result, slightly better battery life on E14
        - numpad on E15
        - E14 is more portable and cooler looking

I think this should make it easy to decide, depending on what's important to you. if you need a larger screen or numpad, E15 is the answer. if you need portability and better battery life, E14 is the one.

gen3 vs gen4 the biggest difference is zen3 CPU's as opposed to zen2, and better screen.

I would say even there's no point in getting E14 or E15 gen3 if gen4 can be had same price

        • That’s awesome. Thanks so much! Really, really helpful.

          • @Baniya: forgot to mention that gen3 has a PCIe gen3 drive, while gen4 has a PCIe gen4 drive

probably in day to day operations won't be noticeable, but improvement nonetheless

  • looks like a good buy. battery is a bit light. though price is right.

I picked up the Gen 2 second hand for $700. For uni work, which involves some heavy processing stuff (GIS software)..it’s a good machine. Great keyboard, pretty rubbish battery. Overall though sturdy, fast little laptop great for study/work.

Recommend at this price for sure.

  • Does anyone know how heavy this laptop is? I am comparing this one with the Microsoft surface $995 offer, certainly this one has more storage. If it is less than 1.5kg I will go for this!

I don't know much about laptops, only getting one for general office works so I guess both will work fine for me.

No info on whether this is the low contrast and low colour gamut or high contrast and high colour gamut 300 nit screen offered.

Size Resolution Touch Type Brightness Surface Aspect Ratio Contrast Ratio Color Gamut Viewing Angle
    15.6" FHD (1920x1080) None TN 250 nits Anti-glare 16:9 500:1 45% NTSC 90°
    15.6" FHD (1920x1080) None IPS 250 nits Anti-glare 16:9 700:1 45% NTSC 170°
    15.6" FHD (1920x1080) None IPS 300 nits Anti-glare 16:9 800:1 45% NTSC 170°
    15.6" FHD (1920x1080) None IPS 300 nits Anti-glare 16:9 1200:1 100% sRGB 170°

    • Yep I recently ordered the e14 gen 4 model
Can't even tell from my order summary
this is all it said about the screen in my order summary
      "Display Type: 14.0" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 300nits Anti-glare"
looks like the only way to find out is when I receive it lol

      • Generally speaking if it's a 99/100% sRGB / 72% NTSC model they will say so. If it's not, they often won't mention it at all. So it doesn't bode well for this particular laptop.

  • Solid at this pricepoint. I've had Thinkpads from work for a few years now, reliable laptops.

Has anybody got it? Any shipping updates?

    • Came in to ask the same, ordered, but have not received any shipping info as yet.

  • has anyone received this yet? i'm still yet to get any info.

  • +1

I chatted with customer service yesterday. Was originally meant to ship "mid-May". I was told yesterday it was delayed until 26 May, at which point it will be handed to DHL within 1-2 business days, and I should expect delivery in early June.

    • I got a shipping notification today from lenovo after talking to the online customer service yesterday who said it would ship from 26th - 28th may.

      • +1

Same, got my shipped notice this morning. Expected delivery date 30th May.
