This would go so well with my non existent ps5!

    • +1

I wonder if people actually bought it without a ps5 just out of FOMO! Lmao

      • +1

Apparently millions of people bought Zelda BOTW back in 2017 without a Switch, as more copies of that game were sold than Switches initially. So I'd say "certainly" to your question.

        • A game is quite different to a charging dock.

      • Lol. That’s me! I got one of these today.

Been trying to get a ps5 for a little while. I’m continuously refreshing Amazon, signed up to twitter stock notifications, jb have stopped taking wait lists and eb only do preorders through their website every now and again.

        No luck so far.

        • How long has it been since you asked JB?
I’m in SE Melbourne, had my name put down with a couple of stores in the area about 6 weeks ago, and then they both rang me last week.

          • @sikmrx: I spoke to them literally today. They’ve apparently stopped taking a wait list. Their wait list is too long so they’re trying to get it back down until they start to take more names/wait list.

            • @FicklePickle: You might want to ask other JB's if you haven't already. Some you can even ring up and put your name down over the phone if they're a little further away from you. This was by far the easiest method I found, though each store had different policies oddly enough (some asking for a deposit, some not needed).

        • Keep on the twitter account, I was following for a month, and finally got mine through amazon last weds when the disc model got more stock, sold out within 5 minutes though.

I only use the one controller though so this seems like a waste lol.

    • +5

Depends on whether you see value to convenience/aesthetics but it also reduces strain on the USB port by using the connector ports at the bottom.

Although the durability of these controllers isn't that great anyway to worry about it long term I suppose.

      • that being said my original ps3 controllers a still going stong since 2009 still hold a charge and still work well never replaced them still on original controllers. if the PS5 is better the controlers will last longer.

        • +1

I have 3 PS5 controllers and 2 of them have stick drift. Very crap for a $110 controller.

My 16 year old 360 controller that I still use for controller games on PC is still working perfectly.

          • +1

@Aureus: I think this is common for all controlers even the switch controller still have this issue.

            • @kungfuman: Nah the PS5 controllers are exceedingly bad, even by normal controller standards. For previous generations and other consoles it was always a question of "if" not "when". With the PS5 its just "when"

              • +7

@carlscott1982: It's the exact same joystick module from same specialist manufacturer in the DualShock 4 and other controllers so the chances of happening are the same. There's no increased likelihood in the DualSense.

There'll be anecdotal people with 2 controllers both having them within a week and others with no issues at all with daily use since launch day (me). It's really hit or miss.

          • @Aureus: X360 was such a good controller!

          • @Aureus: Have you tried to get them replaced under warranty?

            • @philsw: Nope, because they all lasted over a year. Maybe I should try anyway.

          • +2

@Aureus: I have 4 PS5 controller and all 4 of them has no problem. 2 white since launch Nov 2020, and 1 black, and 1 blue. No drift.

But I read the blue one (my new one) less subjective to drift too.

Also have 4 Dualshock4 controller, one black since 2015, until today, still no drift.

        • already had to replace 3 dualsenses for stick drift. anecdotal but across 5-6 controllers I feel like I noticed the battery life decline with them only after several months.

again, anecdotal tho. i imagine diff games consume the battery much differently, and more intense trigger/haptic stuff plays into it. but still… i feel like the entire controller industry cheaped out 4-5 years ago. for example, never had joystick drift prior to this. nothings built like the ps3/ps4 controllers any more.

Can't wait to buy this for my boyfriend and it sits behind the TV unused for years.

    • +1

The logical solution to that dilemma is to avoid purchasing it.

      • +4

.. but it is a good price.

This is not the ozbargain way, buy bargains now and worry about usage later

  • Just bought this last week, do Amazon give partial refunds for sales within a certain time?

    • Generally no. But if you use the live chat, at the very least they’ll give you a $5 or $10 voucher for a future purchase.

      • Generally no. But if you use the live chat, at the very least they’ll give you a $5 or $10 voucher for a future purchase.

They did. Now they dont. You can certainly return it, but may need to pay for return shipment around $7.99 which may not be worthwhile in this situation.

  • FFS literally just bought this at $49 from Amazon last Thursday. With a $7 return fee, I'm not OzB enough to go through the effort for that $4 :(

    • You could say it is not working, in which return fee is $0

    • It's been on sale for the last week. I bought it on Friday from EB games.

    • +2

why return it? just talk to them via chat support and see about getting the difference refunded

      • +2

good idea.. i went through the chat options and it repeated a few times the only option was to return.. however, went through to the chat and they credited the difference. thanks!

  • Any difference between this and the 3rd party charger like this?

    • +1

Probably build quality. I'd be going for the Sony made one, but that's up to you.

    • Buy it and give us a review

  • Might as well, almost same if not the same price as for black Friday. Thanks OP.

  • @ficklepickle try The Gamesmen (in Sydney). My son walked in on Sunday and bought one on the spot. They do post.

More landfill. Just use the single USB cable, people.

  • +1

got this from amazon for $39 a year ago.

solid for 2 controllers. cable charging is whack.

  • Just grabbed one from GGC for $39.

  • I'd rather support local retailers, even though it may be HN.
