Looks like Bunnings have finally come to the party and cut the prices on many 18V PXC skins to match Mitre 10's Rockwell deal. Will update as I find them.

Really wanting the jet blower and garden shears but they're not discounted yet.

The hammer drill kit comes with a 2.5ah battery so is excellent value!

18V Radio $29.50 was $54.90
18V Jigsaw $32.50 was $64.98
18V Hybrid Inflator $49.50 was $94
18V Workshop blower $26.98 was $49.90

18V LED Torch $12.48 was $24.99
18V Orbital Sander $32 was $63.98
2.5ah Battery and charger $61 was $69.98 - Unsure if this was discounted earlier or is part of this sale. Better off getting the hammer drill kit above IMO

Which is the better tool tho, Rockwell or ozito equivalents?

    • +16

Definitely Ozito, if only for the 5 year warranty.

      • +1

PSA: As long as you don’t use your PowerPass when buying.

        • +2

I mentioned this to the woman a few weeks back when returning an Ozito product and she told me it was a straight up rumour and not true because there's no way they can prove it was used for trade use.. Has anyone actually had it rejected?

          • @AngryAlfred: I think it's more the fact that when you buy through PowerPass, you automatically forfeit the 5yr warranty? I thought that's how it worked.

            • @bleemo: Yeah that's what I'm reffering to. Based on OzBargain I thought the same thing but when I asked the lady during a return (I'd bought it without PP specifically for this reason) she told me it was just a rumour and I could use PP in future and not void anything

          • +1

@AngryAlfred: I’ve been rejected. PowerPass is for trade use. And as bleemo says. “ Professional trade customers”, and Ozito stuff has stickers/notes all over it saying DIY use only.

            • @Ulysses31: Daym… I've been buying with PP. Mostly gardening tool tho. Hope it will last more than 5 years.

        • why is that?

    • +2

I'm already in the Ozito Eco system so makes sense for me to get these. But I believe the Rockwell batteries are compatible with other brands like Toolpro.
I think Ozito would have the edge for warranty returns though, Bunnings is much closer for me than Mitre 10

    • +1

Ozito by a large margin. Rockwell loves changing there battery design to screw you over and they lack the higher end version of many tools like ozito.

  • I grabbed the sander, circ saw and another grinder today, and nothing else was marked instore as discounted this arvo. I have most of these already so I don't think I need to make another trip back to Bunnings…

    • Where did you get the circ saw and are there any left?

      • +1

PowerPass app does a realtime stock lookup, I'd recommend that over the website to confirm.

Otherwise, you can always call/visit the Special Orders desk to get them shipped in at the current prices.

        • +2

Found one but in another state. I will call special orders and see if it's possible to ship. Cheers

    • +1

I just spotted the bigger 165mm saw is the same price. May want to swap it lol

      • +1

        Duplicate link - both are the 165mm @ $38.

I also had the 150mm from the initial 5-tool bundle that's about 6 years old, and was due to be retired.

        • +1

Ah, I thought it was this one originally but appears to be the 165mm that was posted

  • +4

Keep the updates coming! Competition is great

  • +2

    Thanks OP, great timing!

I've been working in the garage at night this week and I'm already over dragging the corded worklight around, plus I've almost burnt myself on it a few times.

    • +1

LED worklight shouldnt be too hot to bur?

      • +1

It's a cheap halogen worklight, so it gets quite hot, but it's served it's purpose and time for an upgrade.

  • Thanks OP!

  • +6

I have one of these best light for the price. Adj brightness dial.
Paid $39 last year skin only.
    Camping,fishing around the house.
Think i have just talked myself into getting a spare !!!!!!

    • +1

Worklight is fantastic, I took my little LED torch back under warranty and was able to swap to this instead. Absurdly bright.

      • there two of them. which one did you get?

        • +1

The big rectangular worklight. Much brighter than the smaller handheld torch

    • +1

Yup I bought the LED not long ago, think I paid 49… Tempted to get a second - wish the one on the stand was on sale.

    • It's a POS.

First impressions are great. But then..

You realise the battery drains significantly whilst turned off. Forget leaving it somewhere and actually expecting it to work when you need it. You shouldn't have to take a torch and ozito battery with you to get going ffs.

The orientation of the dial and battery release will either work for you or be opposite to what you need. They should have at least centralised the brightness dial and put it on the front. Ofc the battery release wouldn't be an issue if it didn't drain so fast when not in use.

The adjusting mechanism isn't quite stiff enough so expect it to close inadvertently too often.

The position of the mount clips and general design is not quite right to be practical. Eg: The rubber gets in the way of some mounting positions.

I love it's bright and adjustable but any idiot who actually tested the product could have made it so much better..

      • +3

"the battery drains significantly whilst turned off" do you think yours might be faulty?
It really should not drain the battery at all when off

        • -5

I think paying $12 for a piece of shit is fair enough

          and its supporting aussie jobs

        • +1

I know. Mine drains like a mofo. Currently using it in the wardrobe whilst my batten light is dead. Every 3 days i gotta change to a fresh ozito battery even though run time has only been about 5-10 minutes.

I don't even bother any more. I open the not-so-nearby window and make do.

I'd like to leave the ozito hanging in my unpowered shed for light but there's no point.

          • +2

@justtoreply: Thats definitely got to be a fault I would say, Run time would have to be longer than that
Good thing is its easy peasy returns and exchanges. Reckon you should swap it over

          • @justtoreply: Interesting, I probably wouldn't be leaving it plugged in unless I take it away but sounds suss to be draining the battery.

I've got a Bosch one like this which I leave plugged in to a 3ah battery year round. Use it as my main torch around the house and would probably charge it once a year and many times it would be on and hanging above my BBQ for an hour or so.
Perhaps that's a better option for the wardrobe?

            • @whitelie: I need to get the cfl replaced with led batten rather than buy a Bosch ;) I was getting dicked around by electricians and I gave up but I need to get back onto it. Probably going to need to sink $5k into electrical work :/

              • @justtoreply: What about something like this, cheaper than $5K :P

                https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-14-…

                • @dufflover: Haha nah $5k including all the other electrical work i need done

              • @justtoreply: Unless they're trying to rewire the entire house $5k is outright theft. LED battens are dirt cheap, so it should only be that + labour to disconnect the old one (2-3 screws depending on bodge factor), remove it (again, a few screws), mount the new one (screws.), wire in (more screws). If your sparky isn't dicking around it should be a 10-15 minute job.

I guess you'd probably want to factor in 2-3 hours of them standing around on the phone organising other jobs, but even then $5k would be ridiculous.

                • @schquid: Nah there's probably 20 things i need done, not just the batten

          • @justtoreply: Either your light is faulty or your actual battery is faulty. This should not drain when not in use. You should look at getting it replaced.

        • It does the same with my one. I always make sure I take the battery out. Otherwise I like it. It's very bright and last for ages if my 4ah battery is fully charged. I use it everywhere, under the car, in my roof, under the house etc etc

        • I thought mine was faulty but I never bothered to take it back. Now, above comment confirms its a design flaw. Other than this, I absolutely love this light.

      • +10

Based on the one I grabbed this morning, yours if either faulty, or they updated the design.

I measured the current, and it does not draw any at all when turned fully off.

At the minimum setting (before it clicks off), it pulls 3mA (no visible light). Up to a max of 0.86A on mine, so about 17W. (rating is 20W).

Depending on the battery, 3 days to drain a battery is around 20 - 50mA draw. Mine starts making light from about 5mA.

The brightness adjuster dial on mine is a hard click off - is yours the same? I have not opened it, but I am presuming it physically disconnects the power, rather than just being a software disconnect.

It's certainly possible that yours is not physically disconnecting the power (older design, or fault) and you are getting some power use but no light.

If you have a multimeter, it only takes a minute to check.

As a comparison, the large LED spotlight (the $65 one, fantastic light) uses a software switch and draws a few uA when off (it varies from 20ua at first to about 0.2uA after a while but I have not checked what it averages of longer time periods.). The battery BMS and self discharge will draw more than that.

I presumed your light does the same thing on multiple batteries, but if it is just one battery, then the battery may be faulty.

The battery release is easy, and the adjusting mechanism tight (and adjustable) on mine, so maybe they updated the design?
If so, warranty it for the drain issue, and they will replace it with the new model.

        • I've had two of these lights now, original one got flogged when I left it in the basement garage one day, had a 4ah battery in it too :(

I love it, I use it mainly as a light for night time boulder sessions and the spill and throw is fantastic, a little on the cool side for my tastes, but perfectly usable.

I can confirm that my original one at least definitely would draw down the battery even when hard clicked to 'off'; enough to flatten a 2.5ah battery in a day or so. I just got in the habit of hitting the battery release and sliding it part way out of the light when I was turning it off for an extended period.

I've been treating the new one (purchased a couple months back) the same way so unsure if it has the same issue but the OP here with his complaint was not alone. Definitely not enough to stop me from going and buying another one of them at this price though!

        • Maybe they fixed it but yeah the old ones definitely draw power when off, despite the hard click. I remember when the deal was posted at the time someone commented that they did that, I checked when I got it but can't remember how much the draw was.

Thought about adding a switch to disconnect the battery, but was a bit of a PITA as the battery pins are soldered directly to the board, wasn't a simple wire chop. Probably get around to it one day, apart from the battery drain be good when camping so can just turn on and off without messing with the brightness level (although if they've fixed, warranty replacement sounds like a good idea too)

(Ok, checked mine again. only 2.7mA when off, would take over a month to drain a 2.5Ah battery. Must have been another batch that were much worse)

      • I thought mine was faulty but I never bothered to take it back. Now, above comment confirms its a design flaw. Other than this, I absolutely love this light.

    • Yeh got one about 2 years ago when they were going for $29. Great for camping, always take it along with the inflator and blower.

Tempted to get another, but reminds me I've still got one of those $10 Power-G ones from Autobarn sitting here that I've been meaning to draw up and print a new battery mount for so it will take PXCs.

      • I missed (more like hesitated lol) buying the PXC light but then did find out about and got two of the PowerG ones. Plenty bright enough those to work with, regardless if the PXC is brighter on paper.

But I have found these individual style units a bit limiting at times; if they drop the price of the tripod set up one I'd definitely think of getting that one.

    • Did you use the 18V LED Worklight for camping ? I was thinking the same.
How long does the battery last please?

      • +1

Its a hard answer ,depending on how bright you have it. Also the size battery you use.
For me over 4hrs with the 4Ah while fishing.

    • Wow, you can go fishing around your house!

  • +1

Thanks OP, been thinking about the hybrid inflator for a while. Have the high volume inflator but it's too slow for some things. Also been eyeing the multi tool but not sure how often I'd use it.

    • +3

The inflator is great. Bought full price. Worth every penny

      • +1

what have you been using it for?

        • +28

          The economy

        • +1

At home I mainly use the high pressure side, bike tyres, balls, topping up car tyres. You set your target pressure, turn it on and it stops once it gets there.

Take it camping and mainly use the high volume side for air mattresses (and fueling the campfire) but Iast trip took a SUP and used both sides to inflate. Took a while, about 1 and a half minutes on the high volume side, then about 20 mins on high pressure to get to 15psi. Set and forget though and beats doing it by hand.

      • Yeah it's awesome for kids bike tyres etc.

    • +2

The multitool seemed like a gimmick to me but when you get a job where it is the only good option it is awesome. I have used mine more than I expected and everytime I'm like "it was worth buying just for this one job".

      • Examples on when it is useful please?

        • +1

          Cutting gyprock powerpoints.
          Installing floating flooring.
          Detail sanding
          Electric scraper
Nb. I just bought it, I already love the corded version, looking forward to using this cordless version.

          • @Mat_Lab: Thanks, I've had mine for a while just haven't really started my renos to make use of it.

How does it help with gloating flooring?

            • +2

@fufufu: use mine tons doing the floating floors. cutting tricky edges in the floorboards and chopping door jambs. easiest way to cut the jambs at the right height for me was use a board cut off, slide against the jamb (no underlay down yet) and use the multitool to trim it to that size. its like it was built for that

              • @chefff: I reckon this is specifically what the tool is designed for, because it does the door jams so easily.

  • +1

Hows the orbital sander? Good enough to sand back a deck?

    • +1

I got one and been pretty happy with it! Depends on the size of the deck I suppose, but it's got enough grunt to do a deck if you have the patience to go with it!

    • +1

I did my front patio with it, about 6 metres long 2 metres wide and handled it fine. The lesson I learned was to use courser sandpaper next time haha. Could have saved myself a lot of time!

    • +3

Orbital sander is great. I sanded back 6 doors recently and it did a great job. At this price it's a no brainer. Tip, buy the sand paper off ebay 150 pieces for $17.99 delivered for various grit.

    • Maybe pine, but not a hardwood deck. I have the Ozito powered orbital and it struggles on Tallowwood with heavy grit. If you've got very dense wood I'd get a belt sander with a finer grit.

    • Going to try car paint/panel with 1000-3000 grit from Amazon hahaha

  • Thanks OP, will pick one up tomorrow

  • +3

Thanks, I'm scared of the dark

  • +2

I think the brushless hammer drill kit is almost worthy of the header deal, that's excellent value!

    • What's the difference between the above deal and previous deals with model number PXBHDK-120

      • +2

I think this deal was a clearance as it got to $99 before that, I'd imagine the tool was the same but two 1.5ah batteries, it now has a single 2.5ah.

        • I have this one and you are correct about the 2 x 1.5mah batteries.

          • +2

            @netjock: 1.5mah? Thats a small battery..

            • @justtoreply: depends on what you want to use it for. Plus it is 2x 1.5mah so easy to have one on charge and stand by. Also need to consider the extra weight. For $75 I am not complaining.

    • 50 nm as well, so not bad, even the new Ryobi HP is only 54nm

    • I bought one of these drills yesterday. Once opened, found out few scratch marks on the drill. I am not sure these are brand new. The plastic wrap was scrunched up too. I guess these are refurbished ones.
Also noticed that while running, the clutch rotation is not centered.
Will go back to store and return.

Anyone else bought one, please post your experience.

      • Most likely a returned unit. Bunnings does have very generous return policy and staff would assume it’s still new if the previous person re-taped the box before returning.
Unboxed my blower yesterday and there was no plastic wrap (while my other 3 tools all had them) so probably a returned one as well. No scuffs and worked fine when tested so I wasn’t too fussed.

P/s: just remember a few months ago I ordered a bunch of taps to be delivered, upon receiving 3 out of 7 was opened and retaped (they came in blister pack so very obvious to staff who picked them). Again I used them just fine (they were half-priced) and I’d imagine staff wouldn’t give me much flaks for returning them opened.

      • +1

Exceedingly unlikely they would sell refurbished ones as new.

Sounds like someone didn't check a return properly and it ended up back on the shelf. Just swap it for a new one,

        • Guys, just returned the unit. I opened another piece and found out the same issue. The drill package inside the red carton is double sealed (a round clear tape is affixed twice). Nonetheless the price is good and 5 year warranty is awesome!

          • @mhc: I would have gone thru all the stock to find a sealed one but as you say, if there's any issues in the 5 years, you can always swap it

            • @whitelie: If item included a battery, I would be more concerned in case somebody swapped the battery out. Not sure if the battery is included with the 5 year??

              • @Borg: Good point, batteries are 3 years

            • +1

@whitelie: If it was 2 or the factory circle seals then they probably opened all of them to do something like instruction manual swap. Happens fairly often (used to work as a supplier to retail).

              • @Duff5000: I see, but how do you explain scuff marks being buffed. I could see those clearly..

                • @mhc: I find the ozito tools aren't the finest examples of quality manufacturing, the rough plastics they use are often imperfect compared too something like Bosch. YMMV since you haven't shared a photo.

                • @mhc: Was that on your 2nd one as well?

                  • @Duff5000: Yes it was the same. Chuck wobbles and scratch marks on the chuck. You have to see very closely with different light angles.

  • +1

Would love the work light but don’t have these batteries haha. So would make an expensive work light

  • +2
