Ozito PXC 18V Twin Sander Kit 2.5Ah $99.98 Delivered ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

490

Another Ozito promotional kit. Probably limited appeal and not the best ever Ozito promo kit, but still a saving.

Kit includes a detail sander, a random orbital sander, compact charger and 2.5AH battery.

Detail sander alone is $42.90 and the random orbital is $64.90 so basically you are saving $8 and getting a free battery and charger.

Fair bit of stock around but sparse in WA.

I have the random orbital sander and rate it. Works well, vibration is fairly low and the dust collection is decent.

Also the detail sander is the newer model that will accept a standard sized 4.0AH battery.

For the ROS I can recommend these Irwin mesh type sanding discs. https://www.bunnings.com.au/search/products?page=1&q=irwin+1…

Brilliant timing! I am in need of a sander. Battery is a bonus, charger will just gather dust…….

Just sell off the charger, I sell them off on FB for $10. They always sell pretty quickly and better than having a box full of them, lol.

I might try Gumtree, I don't have/use FB, my Wife does. I have about 4-5 spares. I bought one of the 4 port chargers, and it is fantastic.

        • +1

That would be handy, but my set up has all my chargers wall mounted so I just have the dual charger. I have enough batteries that it's never a hold up, so it works for me.

          • @revheadgl: Yeah, I started with that and then got the all in one. I've got my charger permanently in the canopy of the ute. Very handy for on the go and doing jobs.

My batteries are also growing. Noticed my older ones are starting to get a little worse.

            • @geekcohen: From reading your posts, I guess you have been into Ozito way longer than I have and have a decent collection, lol.

Most of my batteries are fairly new, so I have yet to see any degradation. A friend of mine has had Ozito for many years now and all her batteries are still good though,

@revheadgl: First Drill and Impact Driver was about 10 years ago, but really bought more and more tools in the last 6 years.

                • +1

@geekcohen: So not a heap longer then, I think I bought my first stuff about 4 years ago.

        • Interesting design choice. So it's really a 2 port charger that you just don't have to switch over the second set of batteries.
I don't see why they couldn't have just packed two individual twin chargers in it, wouldn't have needed to redesign anything to handle more current than they already do.

      • I have a spare Makita XGT 40V charger, any idea how much should I sell it for?

    • +10

      charger will just gather dust…

That's kinda what happens with sanders …

      … I'll show myself out

After 10 mins sand paper keeps falling off sander pad. And after 4 new sand papers fitted sander pad is stuffed and will not even hold a new sandpaper.

    • +1

      Bunnings warranty should cover that.

    • +2

Mine has had a reasonable amount of use and I have not had that issue. Perhaps you got just got a bad one,

Just return if for refund or exchange if its still under warranty.

    • +1

Are you giving it a pat when replacing the pads? dust will gunk up over time thats just part of the gig. Realistically the friction should be enough to hold the pad true whilst in use, you just need enough stick to hold it before its pressed against the face of its next victim.

In some quick research prior to buying one of these a few years ago, I bought some cheap velcro pads to go in-between the sander and the disc. Basically a sacrificial one to take some (hopefully most) of the wear and heat that degrades the velcro hooks on the unit which is why after a while even new discs will just stop gripping.

    • The aftermarket velcro pad you can buy for the ozito sanders is way better than the original it comes with. Frustrating, but solveable.

    • +1

If you can't get it sorted under warranty maybe have a look at a replacement velcro disc. You would have to punch the appropriate holes in it for dust collection though. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-125mm-hook-and-loop-conver…

I have the old detail sander that couldn't fit the large batteries, it vibrates like a mf and has no variable speed option, can't believe they didn't add that in this version. The orbital is handy though, can clamp it down and use it like a small disc sander

  • It this a sale? What's the original price?

    • +1

Not so much a sale, but a new kit / offering.

Overall, its cheaper than buying individually

Detail sander alone is $42.90 and the random orbital is $64.90 so basically you are saving $8 and getting a free battery and charger.

It's more one of their limited time promo kits, Generally when they sell out that's the end of it.

  • This kit will be good enough for sanding window frames DIY?

    • +1

Will do the job. Would be better if you had a spare battery or two though.

The ROS will remove material more quickly and the detail sander will get into the corners etc.

      • +1

        Awesome! Cheers

  • +1

I highly recommend the 240v detail sander, however if you need to get into tight corners, the handle can get in the way. The ryobi version has an extendable tip whixh is better for corners.

The ozito range fits a ryobi wet dry vac (much better than relying on the dust catcher).

Amazingly, the ryobi sanders do not plug into the ryobi vaccum hose!! Had to duct tape it to connect.

    • Just wondering if you have used the 18V ONE+ 125mm Random Orbital Sander and the ozito one listed above

  • Will this be suitable to sand deck that is around 25m2?

    • +2

If you have a spare 450 hours then sure

Much better option is a belt sander and even that will take a while

    • The ROS is not really designed for that size job. Would take ages. The detail sander for the corners and edges etc is fine, but I think a belt sander would be a better choice for a deck.

      • Hi mate, I'm noob, would you be able to pls share a link For the Belt Sander, you're referring to. Thanks

        • +1

You can buy cordless belt sanders nut I would suggest a corded one.

Depends on your budget but if you want a cheaper type have a look at an Ozito for the $120 mark and it goes up from there.

Do a search for Ozito BSV-9000. I can't post links as they will likely be deleted as referral spam.

Another couple to check out are Ryobi EBS800V for $159. Bosch also do one for $160 in their DIY line.

If you want somethin a step up have a look at MAKITA M9400B for @ the $270 mark.

          • @revheadgl: Thanks heaps mate for the detailed reply. That's a big help 🙏

            • @OzSikh: Most welcome and best of luck with the job.

Just a point to remember is that a belt sander cant get into corners etc so you will either need a detail sander or sand those spots by hand.

I know I wouldn't be hand sanding as I am lazy, lol.

Ozito do a corded detail sander for $35 from Bunnings or just buy the kit in the OP above. You can always add other Ozito tools down the track. There are quite regular deals to be found here on the Ozito 18V stuff,

        • 25m2 isnt that big but you still may want to hire a floor sander from bunnings https://www.bunnings.com.au/for-hire-floor-sander-4hr_p54700… as it will do the job in a few hours (it is heavy though and you need a bit of strength to use it and get it into and out of your car. And up onto the deck if there are stairs). Depending on the wood you might need 80 grit or perhaps 120 grit sandpaper belts (that go on the machine). At Bunnings you can buy the belts and return any unused ones so get a few different ones just in case. 80 grit if deck is in poor condition or you have to sand existing stain.

A belt sander will still likely take you most of a day, depending on the condition of the deck and how much you need to sand. You will be crawling around on your knees for the whole time. A light sand then use the belt sander, but anything more substantial then consider hiring

You will still need a detail sander for the edges/corners regardless of what you use

  • I've used this orbital sander for a few jobs and boy have I absolutely hammered it. The only weak point I found was the vacuum connection part.

I used the diablo pads - https://www.bunnings.com.au/diablo-125mm-mixed-grit-abrasive… - and found them very good quality. A bit expensive but a nice multi-pack.

I sanded a large timber kitchen bench tops, redgum timber bench. Came out beautiful!

There's also a lot of recommendations for those 3M (Cubitron?) pads, I forget the name of them, I tried them and they were also good. Stops clogging.
