24gb download for 3 days of play? Ummmmm….

    • Just lost my interest.

  • Whatever it is, it will be much better than the crappy Diablo 3 beta everyone positived.

you can't compare two dissimilar items and claim that one is better than the other. about as sensible as saying "A banana is better than an orange"

Thanks for posting, download speed seems low but at least I can run it on the background now. And looks like 12gb from post and DL program.

  • Been waiting for this a long time but I've been waiting for D3 for a lot longer…

  • I saw "EA Games" about 7 seconds into watching a video about this MMO and lost interest within .4 of a second.

  • Better start installing the game early. It's an 11.4GB download (about 10 hours for me) and you only get to play as one faction in one starting area. I wonder how big the final game will be, and if my 120GB SSD is adequate for MMO gaming..

    • And I've been installing it since .. ahhhh, about 5pm, and it's not even half way through. My ADSL usually pulls down over 1MB/s, but it's struggling around the 300KB/s mark.

Yeah, all this talk about digital distribution being the future, and how discs will be phased out. I'm kind of concerned about that. Because I'd much rather have installed this game off a disc, with games getting bigger and bigger (esp. MMOs). This is just a beta/stress test. I imagine the servers wouldn't be able to handle a million people downloading the full game at the same time.

Some MMOs are upwards of 30GB, and it's quite common for MMO servers to be really slow for downloading patches. The Diablo 3 beta client downloaded at 150KB/s for me. At these speeds, the clients would take way longer to download than simply going to a store and buying a copy off the shelf. If there isn't a speed advantage to DD, I don't know what advantage we're supposed to get.

If digital is the future, I'd rather live in the present.

  • Full install of this limited beta ended up being 26GB.

120GB SSD for gaming is definitely looking inadequate now.
