    • Free Car Battery Test

      Shouldn't be rip off!

      • +9

they will then tell you that you need to replace it

        • +1

What happens when you bring your 6 months old, near new car there?

          ;)

          • +3

@YRT: They will figure out a way to upsell you something else. ;)

          • +7

@YRT: they will tell you that you need to replace it anyway.

UPDATE: I went to the Free Battery Testing and the guy quickly tested it for me (the results were not good apparently) but the guy totally left it upon me if I want to buy something from them in future.

He wasn't aware about the free bonus battery pack which I made him aware. OzBargain Power!

        • Do you have to book it in or can you just go whenever?

          • +1

@CVonC: Sorry for the late reply.

You could pretty walk in, he didn't require any appointments from me and gave away the batteries without any proof of membership too.

      Free AA Batteries!

      it's free

    Are they Eneloops?

    • +2

      Would claim if yes.

    • +2

Would have been Ozbargained by now

  • -2

    Real OzBargainers use Eneloops. 😏

But props to them for giving away alkalines at least, from looks of the banner image.

    • -1

Doesn’t say Alkaline. Could be Heavy Duty Carbon Zinc….

      • The pic of the batteries in the banner says ULTRA ALKALINE on the battery wrappers, and Battery World only stock alkaline AAs under their own label…

  • +1

if only they were rechargeable batteries, trying to avoid single use batteries.

  • it ain't free. Someone is paying for it.

    • +7

      Their marketing department?

      • You got it!

      • +1

Where does the marketing department get their money from?

        • +2

From their customers. But if you don't buy anything there then indeed it was free to you. The giveaway doesn't stipulate that you only get the batteries (or the check) if you purchase something - even if they find a fault.

  • +3

Time travelling, time waiting, time testing, time returning plus fuel cost in exchange for a set of batteries? On the other hand if you need the testing it’s a deal.

  • The marketing department gets the money from the franchisees

Minimum $250K to setup a new franchise and the parent company is Century Yuasa

    • $250k doesn't sound too bad, and hopefully you will stay in business longer than the food (ACCC sues Retail Food Group - Gloria Jean's, Michel's Patisserie and Donut King, don't blame the poor stores, blame corporate assh0l**) or 'mart' (7-eleven) style franchises, who's only business model is to pray on people's hopes and dreams…..

  • Welshpool WA didn't have any stock.

Also the Volt Membership $10 only applies to the next order. So you have order something first.

  • SCA do free battery tests too. But yeah no AAs.
