Longshot, but @Pricebeat put together a list of organisations that have access to TGGC. If you haven't already, it would be worth having a look in case you have access you might not have known about

      • I am with Qsuper but merged with Australian Retirement Trust( they have access to Commercial)

But I don’t seem to find a way to TGG commercial from Qsuper

        • I had a quick search for you and according to a comment on Facebook from March, it seems that access is in the works but was still not available to Qsuper members at that time:
          https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=47973424270506…

Hopefully you'll have some luck with someone being able to order it for you!

        • if you go through your ART online account you should be able to access the rewards section?

          • @ltwo: I don’t have aRT account
            Only Qsuper
But they say they are merged

            • @Kawaii: ah looks like QSuper have a separate login… "If you're a QSuper member please login to your QSuper account as normal."

    • Where are you located?

    • Go there, ask them best price, then tell them you have GGC membership and ask them to price match.
Worked for me with my washing machine… But I do actually have GGC so if they tried to call my bluff I could just show them.

  • I've been considering moving away from the Telstra provided modem router.
Would be it a good idea to keep the telstra modem purely as a modem then run a setup like the TP link Mesh system?

    • +1

Yes, especially if you want to retain the 4G backup when NBN is down.

    • Yes, thats what I have done and works a treat and I have the TP-Link Deco S4.

    • Each setup is configured differently. Do you have FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, FTTP, HFC, FW? Do you want access to Telstra's 4G failover and home phone service?

      • Don't care about the backup/fail over. Home internet is FTTN

        • +1

You have to keep the Telstra VDSL2 modem for FTTN. From there you can either do one of these setups.

          1. Bridge the Telstra VDSL2 modem and have full access to the Deco's router.
          2. Leave the Telstra VDSL2 modem configured as it is, turn the Telstra's Wi-Fi off and configure the Deco as a Wi-Fi access point.

What’s the difference between Access Point mode and Router mode on the Deco?

These or the x20? Two devices should be enough for my place.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/697340

    • I would expect most people would be more than ok with the X20, hence why I posted. They price the single unit so high that everyone buys 3, just in case 2 isn't enough! Personally I went with three. That way I have a backup if one dies, or if the family decide we need wifi somewhere it hasn't been used before (garage, porch, etc)!

Also, the one received from Wireless 1 is the V2, which I believe has the faster processor and free HomeCare

  • I've been having problems with a Deco M5 setup I put together at my parent's place. TPG standard nbn modem (Tp link AC1600) and then the Deco M5. Deco constantly looses synch with the modem and claims that there is no Internet connection (but is connected per the modem). I've had to switch the setup to use AP mode and not the router mode (thus losing out on some of the good features provided by the mesh setup like parental controls etc). Has anyone had a similar problem and have any advice on how to address? Would a change from the TPG supplied modem help with this?

    • It is unlikely a new VDSL2 modem will help. Do your folks have FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, FTTP, HFC, FW? Do they use the TPG home phone? Has the Deco lost sync when configured as a Wi-Fi access point?

      • Yeah that's what I think.

They have FTTN and use the TPG voip home phone. Deco doesn't appear to have had any issues since configuring to AP mode. I had read about a "bridging mode" hack by binding the primary Deco node to an IP address and from there adding it into the DMZ, thus allowing the Deco to run in router mode and utilise all the features. However, this didn't fix it for me.

        • Since they use the TPG home phone you'll need to keep the Deco configured as the Wi-Fi AP. If they ditched the TPG home phone you can bridge the TP-Link VDSL2 modem and have full access to the Deco's router settings.

@Twix: Thanks Twix…I guess AP mode it is. Funny that the mesh system worked fine for over a year in router mode in this exact same setup

      • +3

I run vr1600v as router and the M5 in ap mode. Works very well. One thing to look at in the Deco is fast roaming has an issue on a lot of devices unless they support it moving around.

I am a little bamboozled about the fact you need parental controls enabled at your parents place😊

          For their grandchildren.

The other security features etc were useful too.

  • How do you get a Good Guys Commercial login?

  • +1

I have the GG commercial account via my REST Super. Most of the time it's not much cheaper.

    • Yep.! Totally agree… Sometimes regular GG or JB sales are lower than GGC

  • This seems to be out of stock now. Was about to buy.

    Tossing up between M9, x20, x50, x68. Ideally i'd get the x68 on that awesome <$400 3 pack
