Just be aware of the m.2 slots.

I've had the x570 steel legend non wifi for a year or so and the integrated m.2 heatsinks are horrible. They're made out of cast aluminium which looks and feels subpar but more importantly there is no contact with the ssd's once fully screwed down. Looking closely at it the heatsink is angled around 4 degrees from parallel to the drives and has no thermal contact. My only solution was to stack up multiple thermal pads which is far from ideal. Hopefully mine is an outlier but something to keep in mind.

Also hate the horrid rgb header with said heatsink. Oh and you have to take gpu out to pull the entire heatsink off to install/remove a drive.

No header for front usb-c port too is annoying also.

What size pads did you use to fill the space?

You can fill up a 2tb nvme ssd before it would ever thermal throttle. For MB makers heatsinks are marketing/looks first and functionality second. SSD heatsinks in a pc are a dumb trend in general.

      • Well making sure that your SSD's are properly cooled is not a gimmick. Especially if you're running fast Gen 3/4 drives and relying heavily on them for tasks such as video editing, making sure that the onboard controller doesn't cook itself is very important.

this is thunderbotl certified to guys so you can get a gigabype or Asrock thunderbotl 3 card and put it in the pci slot to get 2 thunderbotl 3 ports and yes it actually outputs the full 40gbps so you can run a LG 5K ultrafine display at full 5k resolution. Even the new apple 5k display works with it.
