Spend $200 or More with Zip & Get $40 Cashback @ JB Hi-Fi

1870

Just saw this on Facebook.

Pretty straight forward, spend $200+ on zip pay or zip money and get $40 cashback. I believe the minimum threshold to withdraw with Zip pay is $30 $20 so should be able to get it back quickly!

        • Lucky you, tried calling thrice. It’s a grey import. They wouldn’t price match.

          • @Meenas: I guess I was lucky. Showed him the discription of the "Miranda's Apparel is a specialty women’s clothing retailer operated by the dedicated fashionista's at Perki Australia." he was happy to price match.

Will go in store and buy a GC with zip pay on Google pay. I don't see how they would know if I bought a GC

  • Worked also but im still confused how to work beat the system with zip, in statements it says pay minimum by xx date and get no fees but the on second page says pay xxx amount by end of April to get no fees, it’s telling you different things within same statement.
I some how have dodged any fees so far by changing ways or amount being paid but maybe just been lucky.
But I really would like to know how it really works as I still don’t get it.
Obviously this $200 gift card I just got will be in a future statement so don’t need to worry about that and pay later if I wish or use the time to pay later and instead use the money I would pay now for this any payments due.
But I set up earlier this month to pay xxx amount installments which im sure said was fee free but not if it’s saying in my statement to pay the higher xxx amount by end of April it so confusing

    • -1

      try to do additional payment.

and check how much you need to pay to avoid the $7.95 fee.

      • And how do you find this as it tells me different things in the statement.
I assume I was paying xxx amount end of this month but it says I need to pay higher xxx amount to gain no fees

        • +1

statement is generated at the beginning of each month. say you make $20/40 scheduled pay weekly, the amount needed to avoid the monthly fee will now vary.

as long as you don't see the 'total owing - to avoid $7.95 fee' (or something like that) then you are fine.

          • @PissLUR: All cool I normally don’t payment anything until due and probably reason for using them, it all started when they where giving away money promos which saved.
But no so much these days but had to grab this deal.
I think I was getting mixed up with late fees and fees.
But all sorted I just saved myself a fee by looking at it more carefully.

But this jb one could not come at a better time for me glad it all worked.

          • @PissLUR: I can see I need to pay $40 per month, they will wave the account keeping fee $7.95 monthly, the first due day will be 31/5/22,I don't need to pay interest on the owing balance, thank you for your help.

  • +1

dumb question, do you have to 'activate' this promo?

  • This promo runs 27-30/4.

Does that mean you will have pay in full before 1/5 to avoid the monthly account fee?

    • +1

depends. whats your current owing balance? have you made any payment this month?

      • I haven't use ZIP since last DEC deal so my current owing is $160 for today's purchase, do I need to pay $160 before 30/4 to avoid pay the monthly account keeping fee? thank you for your help

        • +1

the $160 should still be in pending. the best way to avoid the fee is to set your schedule to 'Fee waiver schedule' on this page https://wallet.zip.co/zipPay/payments/schedule

          Fee waiver schedule:
We’ll automatically adjust your schedule to pay off your full balance owing each month so that you don't have to pay the $7.95 monthly account fee.

      • If I haven’t made any payment for this month and set this month’s payment to occur on 30/4, and then purchase this JB deal on 30/4 (after the monthly payment has occurred), will the $160 be payable next month on 30/5?

        • +1

          i would say yes.

I reckon the best way to avoid any fee is to set your schedule to 'Fee waiver schedule'

    • No it will come in a statement which probably due end of next month, I just paid my balance off for April and I’m not due anymore payment, well apart from this deal but it’s probably going to be due by end of next month.

      • Thanks. That clears it up. Didn’t know there will be statements.

  • I started with $1000 available to spend… purchased $200. redeemed 2x$20 and now have $840 to spend.
So does that mean my credit card will get charged $160 ? And I assume that is at end of month? Or will credit card get charged $200 ?

    • +1

You will only get charged $160. But make sure you set your zip account to pay off the entire balance. Otherwise it will only pay off $40 and add a fee.

      • Thanks for that :-)

  • +1

Thanks for this, just got the GPS Apple Watch series 7 for $509

  • What a miss. I just bought the s22 from jb yesterday

  • Do we need to activate rewards?

    • +1

Nope it auto applys by the looks. (I was worried 2 as I couldnt find anything about the reward in the zippay app)

  • +1

bought $200 eGift card, got $40 cashback rewards instantly and redeemed

    Thanks OP

  • Single use Zippay and online giftcard combo worked here too, $40 instantly in zip account. Thanks!

    • Link please

      • Open your Zippay app. Get your single use details up, purchase 200 giftcard from jb website, punch in single use card details.

        • Thanks

  • +1

Also confirming single use card delivered the reward!

    • I second that. Just waiting for the cards to arrive now.

      • And arrived

  • Seems when the gift card is added to the cart, the ZIP pay is disappearing and can’t purchase the gift card d via zip

    • +1

Have you read in the earlier post around here? YOu need to generate a single use zip virtual card to check out as credit card.

      • Cool will do that now. Ta

  • Woeks for gc instore Confirmed. 40 redeemable Immediately

    I am confused here.
Why do people willing to risk and still go for JB gift cards, when zip T&C says gift card is excluded?
Yes there may be a bug but zip has every right to reverse that cashback and ask you to pay back. :S

    • People love free money

    • +1

Don't join some people 6 figure club for not following them lol :)

    • I mean, if they did, it's not like they have their $200 giftcard taken off them. Why wouldn't you risk it?

      • -1

Because they are paying $200 for a $200 gift card if zip decide to reverse the cashback, that's the stupidest buy on this world

You can easily get 5% off from Suncorp everyday, or 10% off from Coles or WW or big W gift cards promotion almost every week, sometimes even 15% off

They only saved $20, compared to 10% off offer from supermarket, but risk paying extra $20.
        I wouldn't gamble.

  • Hmm… Struggling to make a decision between JB GC or Nintendo GC…

  • Hey guys, out of JB topic here but regarding Zip Pay. Compared with other services that you can pay bills with Sniip, Beemit…isn't Zip Pay a lot better?

Sniip - use to indirectly pay your utility/gov. bills to collect higher points for a fee.
Beemit - use to indirectly pay your utility/gov. bills to collect higher points at zero fee
Zip Pay - cashback reward targets to meet which then can be used to take off the difference of the money you owe back

  • For those not aware, The Good Guys has a cashback offer also - $20 back with $200 Spend. Not as good as this but still 10% back if you buy a gift card.

Can be combined with this to get $40 off $220 spend.

  • All done, worked seamlessly. My first time using ZIP since the great pig-trough Gift Card event of a couple Decembers ago.

Hoping for a very rare deal on Apple TV from JB Hi-Fi soon!

  • Thanks op bought using one time card.

Anyone else had their gift card purchase cancelled?
Received an email from JB saying "Unfortunately, your recent order of $200.00 has failed our verification process and been cancelled", however was still able to redeem the $40 in Zip Rewards.

    • same! tho it was cancelled when I use wife's zippay. mine went through without any issues

  • +1

    Now, what to buy?

  • Has anyone here tried repaying zip using Special card

No probs getting the $200 eGift card using Zip single use Visa at checkout. Got the $40 in the zip app straight away and gift card arrived within 10 mins.

Transaction is still pending in Zip but had $1500 balance, currently have $1340 (after redeeming the 2x $20 rewards) so I guess I owe $160.

    Thanks OP!

  • +1

Immediately received $20 x 2 on my Zip Money account. However, my order has been cancelled and JB returned $200 to my Zip Money account. Now, I have $40 extra. Hope Zip won't take it back. :)

    • Any updates?

  • can confirm the offer works with JB gift cards

  • does the $40 cashback comes up straight away? Mine has not appeared yet but probably because it's already 8PM. Will check tomorrow.

    • I just made the GC purchase at 1am and the cashback appears within a sec. Got my GC after 10 min.

    • i went looking as well. The rewards are on its own page in the android app. I couldnt find it in my account in Zip website (desktop browser)

      • mine still does not show in iOS app or website. emailed Zip for it. bummer.

      • ditto this. Couldn't find it in desktop, but could in android phone app
        It worked !!
Thanks, OzBargain - you're my hero!

  • Worked!

  • After the payment being cleared I am owing $400 instead of $200. Anyone else having the same issue?

  • Can you use JB e-gift card to buy Apple Gift card online or in store? OR can I just buy Apple GC from JB online?

  • I just brought a gift card through the zip app how long does it take to get the $40?

    • Instant.

      • I still have not got it

        • Tap on the Rewards Balance button in the middle of the app. Showing as zero?

Edit: You generated a single-use card via Zip?

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: No I brought it through the gift cards and it came out of my zip pay

            • +1

@dandealsau: I think that might be the issue. Gift card purchases are excluded from the promo, but we've been able to workaround that by generating a single-use card via the Zip app. If paying directly via Zippay, it picks up on the excluded category.

  • Can confirm the single use card payment method still works for JB digital gift card. Reward appeared immediately in app whilst the gift card got delivered 25 mins later.

  • As a total n00b to Zip (used it for the first time the today for this cashback) is there a way to withdraw the cashback? Seems different to Shopback/Cashrewards

    • +1

Zip just deducts the $40 from the amount you owe them. If you spend $200, you need to pay them only $160

      • Ah yep makes sense, thanks.

  • does the single use card still work for the gift cards?

    • that's what i used

  • Do you have to spend $200 at one transaction same day? Can 2 transaction make up to $200 and still get reward?

  • Can confirm single-use card still works on online GC purchase. Get rewards instantly.

  • Now that this offer is over….a general question. Can you generate and use a Single-Use Card from Zip for use in apps such as UberEats? From memory, they deduct a small account at first to "verify" the account, will that kill it off for the subsequent transaction?

    • Curious to know as well.

      • Tried this today, and it worked. Generated a SUC and added it to my Uber Wallet. Payment processed, and I picked up my order.

I didn't use it as payment with the $30 sign-up offer though….thats another (longish) story.

    • Yep, go into "pay subscriptions" and select Uber.
