Back with another Aqara Zigbee smart home device and this one is quite different to the others. This small cube allows you to do 6 different gestures for controlling your smart home devices. This includes pushing, shaking, rotating, tapping and flipping the cube to trigger different actions.

For example you can push to turn on/off smart lights, shake to open/close smart curtains, rotate to adjust smart light brightness, tap twice to turn on/off smart fan, flip 180° to turn off smart power plugs and flip 90° to turn on the air purifier.

It requires the use of a Zigbee hub to function and it's compatible with many brands including Aqara, Xiaomi, Conbee and more. The sensors also support Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Home Assistant when paired with a Zigbee hub.

  • Can someone please just explain if I can use this with Google home? What can I do with this?

    • It's a Zigbee thing, you need a Zigbee capable hub to use it.

I assume that line about sensors is left over from copy-pasting another listing. This cube is just a remote. Kinda novel, but not the most practical thing. Rather than just clicking a button, you assign actions to motions of the cube like sliding it across a surface or shaking it. Eg. You might have some compatible smartlights and you set it up so that shaking the cube changes the colour, rotating the cube turns up the brightness, double tapping the cube on a surface toggles on/off, etc.

      • You're spot on - they aren't very practical and they're a bit unreliable. I have two, one is being set up for the toddler (different playlist on each side). No idea what I'll do with the other though.

They can make a decent media remote though.

  • Awesome Clear!
Another doodad to add to the smart home.

    Thanks again

    • Another doodad to add to the smart home.

      Got it in one.

I think I'll get this here doodad to allow tactile access to smart lighting functions.

  • most impractical and unreliable crap i bought! Binned it.

    • Both mine work fine. Assigned a huge amount of shortcuts to them. One can change media volume, mute, pause/play etc. Shake it and it switches to light control which allows it to change brightness, turn on/off etc. Can do it for all lights in a room or just a single one, depending how you use it.

      • you must be a percussionist.

Or throw in like a dice to see what happens if you're bored
