Best price according to the camels although it has been on a downwards trajectory for a little while. Maybe it will go cheaper?

This set includes includes a 6" Cook's knife and a 3 1/2" Paring Knife.

Seems like a pretty decent deal as a 16cm Cook's knife alone has a RRP of $229 according to Peter's of Kensignton.

They are selling the 16cm Cook's knife for $137.

Amazon reckons there are 3 left in stock but I could add 5 to my cart so I think it will go to back order.

15cm might be a bit short for a cooks knife.

I would recommend a Victorinox as much better value, or if you want a harder steel a Briljera knife from Ikea.

We do have the 20cm version of this knife but apparently some people aren't comfortable with that size. This is cheaper too, so win win for those people.

We're really happy with the paring knife too.

    • Any specific Victorinox offerings for a good quality yet affordable chefs/santoku knife?

The fibrox pro 8" is a very popular victorinox budget knife. It's a bit more budget than the wusthof knives here - it cheaps out on the tang, not the blade. I'd shop around or wait for a better price though: https://www.amazon.com.au/Victorinox-Inch-Fibrox-Chefs-Knifeā€¦

All these knives have very fine edges for the steel used - the edges roll easily even on a wooden board. They are just as easy to sharpen though. I wouldn't want to use them for work - they don't last a shift. Victorinox has the more robust edge angle though, so should last longer.

Those briljera knives from ikea (mentioned above by shaktool) have a 25year warranty and VG10 steel - that steel is much better than either victorinox or wusthof. These are a clear winner re steel, price, design and quality https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/briljera-cooks-knife-70257577/

lol @ recommending Victorinox over Wusthof classic. Craziness…

  • They really sliced the price this time

  • No no to full bolster

    • good on the paring, but no good on the chefs

  • Done pretty quick

  • Wusthof customer service is excellent. My better half has a 25yr old set, the handle on one cracked & fell apart, they replaced the knife, no receipt requested, just a pic & serial#. Amazing
