Can someone explain to a noob how to actually use this site? When I follow the link for SYD-SIN for 1-27 Jun I only see options for $700+.

    • +1

You can click on the links above or plug in your own dates. Your dates listed above are for flights on that fall on school holidays? Usually with sale fares, those dates are excluded. That's how Airlines make their money!

      • Cool, thanks.

Is there a way to keep the filters on when I change dates? When I filter for '0 stops' and 'Qantas only' in the sidebar, then click on the sideways triangles at the top of the search results to alter dates, the website resets my filters. This makes it annoying to find dates with the lowest prices.

        • Unfortunately no. Something I will consider going forward in terms of improvements

Is this mob the new Skyscanner? I haven't used a comparison site since COVID reared its ugly head but in the past Skyscanner was my goto.

  • It's an alternative to Skyscanner and has been around for a while now (5 years and counting). Where it differs is it also highlights cheap sale fares when they become available

  • Is this Economy only deals always or is there discounts for Premium Economy/Business?

    • +2

These are economy fares. Happy to have a look for business/premium economy fares for you. Where are you departing from?

      • Melbourne to Singapore. Basically have been waiting for premium economy deals 31st Aug-5th Sept.
Just checking the site it's still pretty standard pricing.

If loyalty isn't a concern for you, I suggest checking out Scoot and their ScootPlus seat which is pretty much the same business class seat Qantas and Virgin fly in their domestic B737's. Pretty comfy flight for a 7 hour flight from Melbourne and I am constantly booking ScootPlus return for about $800 all up outside of school holidays. Both my flights (April 2 and came back yesterday) were half full too so you could buy those cheapo $150 economy tickets with them and upgrade in the air for about $80

        • +1

$1852 with Singapore Airlines is the best I can find

          https://flights.flightfinderau.com/flight.ashx?pa=1&cl=Premi…

Alternatively, as it has been mentioned, Scoot comes at $947

          • @flightfinderau: Last question from me thanks for the help!

Are these tickets (in the original link) economy or discount economy if I buy from these affiliate sites?

The reason I ask is because we intend to use our qantas points to upgrade to business and you can't do that with discount economy tickets.

This is just cheapest right? Not discounted?

            • +1

@xerozia: These are discount economy tickets..so yes, upgrading may be difficult.

RexHavoc is due here any minute now

      • With his extremely generic and uninformative comments.

If you're flying to Singapore, be aware that they will want proof that you have at least $30,000 of travel insurance to cover any Covid-related costs.

    • +1

Not encouraging anyone to do this, but I flew to singapore and back last weekend and no one asked me for travel insurance - just my experience.

      • Are people wearing masks on the streets?

        • Streets no, but indoors yes everywhere

They even have volunteers who would come and ask you to wear mask properly (i.e. over the nose)

          • -1

            @eatcroissants:

ask you to wear mask properly (i.e. over the nose)

            we need that here.

    • They removed that requirement this month I think

    • I'm going to Singapore for one day in May and it looks like its only $12 SGD through AIG for one day. I also checked the price for a week and its $29 SGD, so very reasonable.

From Friday (April 1), compulsory travel insurance is no longer required for fully vaccinated short-term visitors entering Singapore.

This is applicable for those coming to Singapore under the Ministry of Health's General Travel Category countries or region by air, land and sea borders, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore on Thursday.

Note: Just returned from two weeks holiday in Singapore. Did not get covid insurance as it is no longer compulsory.

      • But if you got Covid over there, without insurance, you have to cope the treatment cost ?

    • Just came back from Singapore yesterday. That COVID insurance requirement ended April 1. For entry, all that's required is a supervised RAT which cost me $44 the day before the flight.

      • Hi just out of curiosity, where did you have your supervised RAT done? I'm going to Sg soon and want to take one through the chemist but have been hearing mixed things from people saying that they don't count

        • They're $59 at Melbourne Airport in T1/QF terminal.

        • For the pre departure test, I got it done at chemist warehouse the day before the flight which was $80 all up for three people travelling which included the price of a five pack covid test kit.

        • I used Australian Clinical Labs, paid online and used the code QF20 for $20 off to bring it down to $44. Went in on the day and got results and my certificate emailed to me 15 mins later

Still waiting for Qantas to process refund from Dec before I book anything else with them

  • +1

Qantas rip-off. Never again. Cost me more than half of the ticket price to change a date. No credit for bassinet $40. Have to pay again due to date change. End up buying one way ticket in SA. Over 2 hours on phone to contact customer support.

  • do you have to book a separate flight for your bags these days?
    haven't travelled for a while…i'm just a little rusty

  • Looking for feedback for the sites that actually sell the ticket: myTrip.com, Opodo, eDreams, gotogate. Any good or bad experiences with them?

    • +1

None that you listed have a physical presence in Australia and if there's any issues, you may not be protected. I would avoid them. Stick with TA's that only operate within Australia.

      • If there is flight cancellation etc, and we need to arrange for another flight, do we deal with the airline or with the travel agent?

        • +1

The airlne would tell you to speak to the TA
