Noticed the same thing. Bastards
People get a bit carried away with spending money on vacuums. No need to spend $1.5k! A V10 or even the cheaper V8 will do the job just fine
My V6 does a fine job. I recently changed its battery after over 6 years of use. It has its own limitations I must agree though and I wouldn't mind upgrading since newer models are far superior in many aspects.
V10 was at one point $600 on eBay Tuesday promotion, I can’t get over that price hence why I didn’t buy v10 or v12
Oh wow.. Is that its lowest price?
@virhlpool: Not sure if it was like-for-like, but I got mine from Kogan ~$600 delivered for the V10 Animal (but that was around 2 years ago).
@virhlpool: I paid about $360 for it back in 2019, noting it was a refurb that was brand new! There were so many stacked discounts across multiple deals, it got to confusing to know the exact cost! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/8081993/redir
The reviews for the v10 compared to the v12 and or 15 are fairly average….for an extra few hundred would you not get the better one?
That's always the case when you spend more get better. How far can your pocket stretch is the question.
Yeah just got the v8 for $459. Enough to spend for sure..
IMO instead of upgrading, might as well spend the money on a robot vacuum to compliment your old (and still functional) dyson
Or a new battery. We bought a non genuine replacement on eBay for our v8 for half the price of the Dyson battery and it lasts longer. Sure, there's a small chance it will one day burn the house down while charging, but so far so good :)
@PhilToinby: I've used the generic one, which didn't last long. The Dyson brand is worth the price and saves you the hassle IMO
Just buy it from Myer, also 10% off with the same code.
What's the difference?
Myer stock the V12 and V15
We've been using this from the last month and it's been a great overall vacuum cleaner. Got an awesome deal from TGG
Pros-
Suction is good
Fade free battery runs for around ~40 minutes on an average
Good range of tools
Comes with a stand, great space saver if you live in an apartment.
Big bag less bin compared to earlier versions
Comes with soft roller, has been great for tiled and timber floors
Cons-
A bit heavier for my gf to hold for a longer period of time
Power button need to be pressed at all times for the vacuum to run- power button found to be a bit sensitive too (YMMV)
Concerns over emptying the bin as over the period of time the push flap could get loose and eventually bin could fall off while emptying.
Takes about 3+ hours to fully charge from zero. I think it could be a bit faster given the price tag, nonetheless not a deal breaker at all.
Make sure when you wash the filter, you dry it thoroughly before reinstalling it. Dyson happened to void the warranty for one of my friends due to this.
ask your GF to use two hands.
Can't do that, she'll ask me to vacuum instead.
Otherwise get her to train to be stronger so you don't need to do the vacuuming
What was the deal you got from TGG?
20% off the sale price I guess. including online discount and cashbacks, got it for ~$940
That doesn't seem to be an "awesome deal" when its been $649 in the past…
That doesn't seem to be an "awesome deal" when its been $649 in the past…
I agree with you but unfortunately it is too naive to compare prices from pre-covid era now.
@IMadeYouReadThis: That was in November 2020 - well into the pandemic. Here's another more recent deal. Still substantially cheaper than $940
@inasero: Thanks, hopefully we will see these prices again sometime in the future.
Just on the bin falling off while emptying, it shouldn't get loose, it's a pretty low tech design that keeps it on and opens when pushed down. That said the part that stops the bin coming all the way off snapped off on mine (this was probably 18 months ago and happened outside warranty) and they just replaced the whole unit and all I paid was a small service fee and a basically got a new vacuum, new filter etc.
So, in short it shouldn't be a concern.
Has anyone seen any good deals around $400 mark I was looking at Dreame T20. $850 is a bit out my budget.
Don't do it… it's a great machine as long as nothing breaks.
My motorised head stopped working within 9 months and I've spent months playing email tag with their support/warranty department and getting it replaced.
Took me 2 months to get a response from support after jumping through all their hoops (sending them info, videos etc.), and finally got some traction after I spammed all their social media accounts.
And now they have sent the part from China, estimated delivery (assuming it arrives then) will make it another 2 months since they sent it out.
So yeah 4 months of not having a proper vaccum - been resorting to my half dead Dyson instead.
The motorised head failure is a common problem, its known that two pins lose contact with the head and need to be realigned, some DIY could elevate that headache most likely. Not saying that's acceptable but it is a common fault.
I bought T20 from Costco. However, its battery has been errored after 11 months used. Luckily, Costco has accepted for the return so now I am looking at Dyson or Miele, not get the cheap one anymore.
Get the Viomi A9 from panmi with the extra battery on promo for $249 at the moment. I would have ideally preferred the Xiaomi G10 but no deals have popped up in ages.
Just got a ‘used / 95% new’ whatever that means G10 for $270 from Xiaomi ebay store.
The G11 is available for $450 new.
I was looking at that exact G10 on eBay, but didn't wanna risk it, hearing of all the horror stories of refurbed returned items like batteries just held together with tape. It's gonna be someone's warranty return unit that they've fixed.
Also G10 extra batteries difficult to find in stock and very expensive of you do find one with no deals.
@NoApostrophePlurals: G10 arrived, the box was a bit dirty but sealed, and everything looks completely unopened and new. Best bit - found the identical batteries from the T20 for $50 each including shipping and the dock attachment from dreame.com.au so I bought two!
Battery has a 2 yr warranty if I recall, and its charge ability dropped to near useless levels about 2 months after this date (and to me a major fault). No amount of ACCC conversations would change their minds and had to purchase a new battery, so factor that into your purchasing.
Or a calendar reminder at 1 year and 11 months for an semi-regular under warranty claim.
how much is a new battery?

I must have gotten lucky, going strong with my 7 year old V6.
Or someone just having bad luck. My V6 still going strong after many years also.
Agree. My V6 is still going strong. Bought a new motor head, filter and battery and it's running like new. A little maintenance saved me $850.
My V6 is still going strong. Bought a new motor head, filter and battery and it's running like new.
Of course it would be going strong after replacing the head, filter and battery. It is not the same as saying it is going strong after not buying replacements to fix an issue.
@Lucille Bluth: Well no, all those are expected maintainable parts. If he had to change the main motor then that would be another story.
@Lucille Bluth: oops unpublished my comment by accident.
If you expect your Dyson to be good as new after 7 years without maintenance then we have different expectations.
f you expect your Dyson to be good as new after 7 years without maintenance then we have different expectations.
I concur with you, I have had the wand and bin replacement over the last 7 years due to wear and tear. Battery should be next in line but that is expected given its age.
My V11 failed just weeks before the 2 year warranty ran out in Jan 2022. Lodged a warranty repair and dropped it off. Picked it up a week later and was told it's been repaired. Ran it for 10 minutes until it died again. Lodged another warranty claim, and they sent out a new battery. Unscrewed the old battery and found it was cracked and had been electrical taped together… how the F do they consider that a proper repair!?!
The new battery fixed the problem.
V11s are meant to have swappable batteries. In the fact the US version came with an extra battery standard combo. I think Aus version just came with the fluffy head instead
You're partly correct.
There are actually two main versions of V11.
revision 1 came out first - that has 185AW of suction and a screwed in battery. In Australia the two models of this were V11 Animal and V11 Torque Drive.
Revision 2 came out later - that has 220AW of suction and a click in swappable battery. That was originally V11 Absolute Extra and is now V11 Animal.
There are other SKUs that are overseas, for example there was one without the LCD battery display that was sold in the US and (briefly) in Australia.
To my knowledge the main model in the states that had two batteries was the V11 Outsize (now simply Outsize), this was due to the colder climate meaning more houses having predominantly carpet, which requires higher power to clean.
This is me speaking as an individual, not on behalf of the brand. Happy to answer any question you may have - within reason.
Dyson sent me a new battery even though I was 3 months out of warranty free of charge. I think it depends who you get on the chat line.
And probably how entitled you come off too during the chat
Didn't have to, saw that I purchased with Dyson directly and only happy to give me a new battery. I think it helps if you buy it directly with Dyson officially
Could someone tell me how this one and Miele HX1? Thanks
xiaomi dreame v10 just as good and a quarter of the price
I still like the soft roller brush from Dyson, the rest I prefer dreame v10.
The Xiaomi Dreame V10 is nowhere near as good
There are plenty of reviews and it’s quite clear that Xiaomi has the best value for money.
I love Dyson products by the way!
Best value for money ≠ just as good
@Sim69: Of course, I was referring to performance vs. cost.
We’ve had it for about 2.5yrs. Never missed a beat and is light and easy to use. Battery life is slowly coming down - was about 40min at start and now under 30min - but this is more than enough for what we use it for.
Need to empty the bin after about 10 minutes of vacuuming, depending on how dirty your house is - we have a big lab who is always malting.
Would happily recommend it and buy again.
Any V15 deal
eBay Myer have the V15 in stock
Anyone used the soft roller on wooden floors with long dog hair? Tis the biggest issue with our old dyson cordless.
It is great for our lab on timber floors, that is what we mainly use it for 👍
Thanks, I figured the long hair would just get wound around the soft head & clog it up pretty quickly (english setters).
Human hair clogs up the standard head more than the fluffy - I think due to the bristles.
Paid $800 for this about 3 years ago. It's been really good, though I had to replace the motor head recently as the housing broke and I'm finding the outer casing is a little fragile. Otherwise the battery is still solid and it does a great job at cleaning.
I am curious why dyson is more expensive here than overseas. I bought v10 absolute 2 years ago for my mom when I was in home country and it was around $650.
You mean why is everything more expensive here.
Shipping, distance, small market that can't skip to other countries to shop easily…
Is it just my Dyson V10 or it’s normal, it’s quite difficult to push to open the dust bin sometimes.
Try a bit of Teflon spray
Anyone have any thoughts on this vs the LG or Samsung equivalents? I do feel like the cleaning stations are very convenient, coming from a DC59 animal that has just died.
probably mine is an unpopular opinion, but I prefer (and bought) the LG instead of Dyson, Miele, Samsung etc.
My wife & I went in store to JB, tried them all out and the LG just felt easier to use. Handle is on the end rather than on the 'top' so when we hold it our hands and wrist is in a more natural position, and the power button doesn't have to be held down or anything and is easy to reach. I have found the attachments and length adjustments easier as well. Suction power is comparable, obviously the more you pay for newer/bigger motors then it'll get better etc.
Best go try them all in store, nothing beats actually holding them in your hand to feel it. Everyone is different, YMMV etc etc.
Probably worth while waiting until Dyson start selling the refurbished V10 Absolute+ units. Got ours for for around $400 with full warranty a few years back, so I don't see this as much of a deal
Overpriced rubbish….
Damn covid sure screwed up prices. Purchased this for $749 back in mid 2018 and it also came with the dok.
I can't believe I paid $798 for a set of this V10 AB+ 3 more yrs ago. That was right before the Xmas of 2018 as long as I can recall. Look at the price tag now. Damn! It's just a vac, not futures trading.
I paid $674.25 directly from Dyson for the V10 Animal back in Sept 2018 which also came with a Dok that I sold for a couple of hundred. Can't remember what the difference was with the Animal and AB+ though.
main benefit absolute+ over animal tools is the fluffy head for improved hardfloor cleaning while protecting from scratching. You also get extension hose - great for dusting and car cleaning, flexi (extendable) crevice tool - good for nooks and crannies and soft dusting brush - good for easily scratched surfaces like leather or plantation shutters. Hope that helps
I keep missing these bloody Dyson deals.
What are your thoughts on this? Also $10 off as a new customer, and up to 10% cashback with Cashrewards.
Anyone?

Good price, too bad they don’t put the v12 or v15 promo bundle on ebay
