[eBay Plus] Dyson V7 Motorhead Origin $314.10, Dyson V8 Absolute $584.10, V10 Absolute +$764.10, V6 Battery $71.10 @ Dyson eBay

910
PLUSES10

Some great prices (even lower) than the one I posted previously. This combines both Dyson's Click Frenzy pricing along with eBays 10% discount for Plus members, so there's some very good discounts on the higher end Dyson vacs.

Good time to purchase a replacement battery if your runtime is no longer optimal: the DC44 battery is $72 delivered and the V10 battery is $125.10

Hi there, we announced the V12 at the same time as V15. At this stage it’ll be available in more limited quantities than the V15.
The names are based on the motor model used, so while there may be a V13 or V14 motor (something I have no information on) they may just not be in products released yet. V9 for example is the motor in our Supersonic and Airwrap!

  • 13 is unlucky :P

    • 14 for the Chinese

      • +3

He is right. It's actually anything to do with number 4. You would notice on most of the lifts in Singapore, Malaysia where they never use number 4, instead they call them 3A. So the numbers 4, 14, 24… becomes 3A, 13A, 23A while all other numbers are used as is

      • Number 4 sounds like death in Chinese. So they avoid anything with it.
13 is superstitiously meant to be unlucky world wide. Even apartments sometimes skip this floor.
12? Not sure. Maybe was easier to skip it all together to 15

        • +2

Literally no apartments have done that for a very long time. It's just a number people

          • @Trentgibbo3: The new Barangaroo Residential towers in Sydney have skipped all the ‘40’ floors. From memory it’s 70 stories with numbering that goes to Level 88

  • +1

The V8 was $449 in November.

  • Refurb V11 Absolute or new V10 Absolute ?

    • +1

      New v10

      • Thanks - any particular reason why you say that?

        • Personally I don't trust refurbished ones..

        • +1

The refurb ones also have a 1 year warranty and are most likely ex-display models or returns, which they then clean and maybe fit out with new parts if needed.
I also had a look online at peoples opinions on Refurb vs New Dyson, and most say it's fine as it'll likely last longer than the older model.
Also the specs on the v11 are outright better than the v10 (unless you only have hard floors where they are even I think) The better battery management system is what sold me on the v11 vs v10

          • +1

@Uzel: Went for the V11 refurb. At 741 after discounts and gift voucher cashback it seemed a great deal!

            • @digitalane: Which model V11 did you decide to go with? Can you let me know how it goes? I'm also thinking of getting a refurb V11 but worried about the quality of it compared to a new one. Thanks

              • +1

@spend2little2much: Got the refurb V11 absolute extra refurb, and it arrived today, everything was in a custom box which specifically said refurb.
Had the soft roller as well.
it looks perfectly fine, clean, like new basically, functions seem normal as well, battery life on the menu looks close to the max stated as well.

  • Damn.. No genuine / original V7 batteries.. Sigh

    • No v6 batteries either

  • +1

Batteries are still quite pricey, does anyone know if the aftermarket ones on ebay are any good? Or anyone can comment on difficulty if repacking one?

    • +3

dyson use Murata (formerly Sony) 18650 cells for its batteries, which is rated for 30A current, aftermarket one probably half this price but I don't think they use such high quality cell.

Repacking the battery pack is quite tricky and if you're first timer almost certain your missus gonna frown upon you trashing her artpiece so if you can live with it then no worries.

      • +2

Such chauvinism, how do you know it belongs to the missus :p

        • So, does it belong to the Mrs?

          You didn't answer it.

Honestly, is it primarily used by a man or a woman ( and if more by a man, is there a woman in the house )

Use of stereotypes is NOT necessarily a sexism thing, it is a generalisation thing. It helps us simplify our communication.

    • Also keen to know.

    • +8

I’ve tried the aftermarket ones, they all have fake rated capacity, if you open it up and look at the cells they never match the advertised higher than original capacities.

They also don’t last long, it’s only good for the first few months, after that the battery life drops significantly from a full charge, i suspect the aftermarket batteries don’t use the high load cells which are designed for high power discharge devices like a vacuum cleaner and will deteriorate rapidly if used high power devices. I bought it from a reputable third party seller on amazon and i picked one of the most expensive 3rd party batteries and after 3 replacement within 10 months from the battery failing to charge i got a refund instead.

Bought genuine one and never looked back

      • Totally agree. I've tried 2 aftetmarket batteries. Both shut down after 10 seconds on Max. Never again.

    • +1

I haven't come across a good non-Dyson battery (I've tried half a dozen for both V6 and V7 models). Don't do it. If you don't want to pay so much for a new one, buy a Viaomi A9. I did and it's excellent compared to the V7.

      • What’s the battery life on the Viomi A9? It Says 10 minutes max power but I’ve never used a stick vac before so no idea if that’s plenty or not.
        $199 seems an ok price.

        • +1

Don't need max power - the Medium setting is more than enough in comparison to the V7 for suction and cleaning. I can clean my entire house (5 Bedrooms) on a full battery. High power on the V7 only lasts 7 minutes and it still isn't as good as the A9 for suctioning up dust/dirt/particles.

          • @bchliu: Thanks for answering. I did see your other comment about it as well.

About the power button/trigger, is that an issue? I would think holding a trigger is worse… but like I said I have never had a stick vac before.

Hoping to get a robot vac/mop for downstairs which is tiled and maybe use it upstairs on carpet..and a stick for carpet stairs, cars, and upstairs carpet if robot isn’t good up there.

            • @PVA: Trigger isn't really an issue - maybe for ex-Dyson Owners like me that just had to get use to using the power button instead of the trigger. Once you do, it's pretty natural since you don't need to hold it down anymore. I would highly recommend a stick vac no matter which brand. These are super handy and you will wonder why it's taken this long to get one, honestly.

              • @bchliu: Are they good for stairs?

  • Considering the price for genuine parts the V7 Origin could be good for them, the direct drive head on my V7 is busted and would be $125 from Dyson.

  • Thanks op. Got the V7 to replace my trusty old but slowly dying V6.

  • Anyone know how the Dyson V7 will compare to the Viomi A9?
I used a Dyson V11. It was good, not great,

    • +1

I have both the V7 and the A9. The A9 is soooo much better. Smooth (better head), adjustable power levels, much lighter, half the price and has a battery meter that shows you how much power is left so you don't have to constantly charge it (and wear out the batteries). Not to mention the batteries last at least 50% longer than the V7 on the same levels of suction. The only "bad" thing is that the A9 doesnt have a "trigger" to hold down - power button works fine and you're constantly vacuuming anyway.

  • Am I the only one here still using a Hoover heritage 5210? If you find a piece of wire to clear the 2 week blockage, it’s going to last forever! Had for 7 years already. Was on sale for $99 at Godfreys.

    • +2

      But it’s not cordless…

Jokes aside, we had one of those old ones, replaced it with a new fancy Electrolux and was surprised how much more dust etc it got over the old one.

  • Non Ebay plus members - I got $30 off $349 with code PAPPSS making the V7 $319

  • V10 is now $989.10 after discount
