Saw this in the terry white chemists catalogue.
Could not find any cheaper than this.

I agree, major chemists regularly have brand name mouthwash for sale for around this price, so not a particularly good deal.
Please use your voting correctly, like with like thank you. Yes we all know we can buy mouthwash, generic or other cheaper brands for less than Listerine.
And when going to the extreme of using a negative vote it is incumbent upon you to give a specific and current example.
When using the negative vote please observe the guidelines, which relate to like for like.

well said, sir.
Are mouthwashes even safe to use?

Ahh…..Never thought about this ! after reading this I think I would stop using the mouthwash !
My wife used to be a dental nurse and she is really against them as they do more harm than good, and can be dangerous if overused. I don't know of any dentist that actually recommend using mouth washes (particulary those that use alcohol, which is most of them). All you need to do is brush and floss for a nice healthy mouth :))
Thank you for linking to that. That article is over two years old now and the actual research must be older again. It would be interesting to see whether there is any further information coming out on the subject.
When I read that article, most of the concern seemed to be around ethanol contained in mouthwash. I notice that Colgate Plaq states on the bottle that it contains no ethanol. Does Listerine still contain it? Maybe the research is not relevant to the newer products.

It's definitely not worth using. The benefit is negligible given the risk.
This seems to be a pretty standard price from what I see around where I live. Local supermarkets sell it for around this price usually.
Not sure how much of a bargain this is or maybe I'm just really lucky. I just picked up 1 litre for $9.99 from Chemist Warehouse yesterday during my fortnightly shop, I've never paid more than that for it before.
orange123's comment is a little concerning though…
Pro:
Good price
Con:
Does not clean teeth
Has no functional purpose
Gives you cancer
"Gives you cancer"
If your comment is based on the linked article, realise that the article is a couple of years old, seems to be mostly concerned with ethanol, and may not be relevant if the modern products have eliminated ethanol (Colgate Plaq claims to contain none).
In any case, you have negged based on the product type rather than the deal (which you admit is a good price), so your neg is bogus.

Another interesting link, thanks. It seems that it is the alcohol based products in question still.
If Colgate Plaq has a competitive product without the ethanol, I wonder why Listerene persists with the ethanol? I guess it's possible that Colgate Plaq is significantly less effective?
Woolworths have had Plaq brand 250ml Mouthwash for $1.00 twice this year (so 2.5l for $10), I bet it happens again. This isnt a great deal.
