Take it from a person that makes over $150k from just a side hobby using cnc machines (along with other machinery).

There are other alternatives that are more bang for your buck.

Other competitors offer motors and controllers included for a similar pricing.

The links below are two Australian companies with great cnc machines and also great customer service:

    https://www.facebook.com/Bluecarve/

    https://www.cnc3d.com.au/

Please be aware that you'll need to purchase a motor/spindle also, along with endmill bits.

150k for a side hobby?? Teach me your ways😂

    • What kind of things are you making/selling?

      • Interesting to know …

    • Any decent complete machines you'd recommend ?

      • The two companies I listed above sell complete machines. Best to contact them for further information and recommendations.

You'd need to know at least what material/s you'd mainly fabricate, thickness and sizes of your products.

    • Hi David, thanks for the feedback,

CNC Routers is only one area we offer solutions for, with several different models available ranging from <$1000 to $5000.

We specialise in supplying a vast range of modular hardware which allows many makers with a creative mind to build their own projects including aluminium framing, linear actuators, aquarium framing, automated gardens… the applications for our products are only restricted by your imagination!

We even notice you are a previous customer of ours 😉

    • You can't just flex and leave everyone cold turkey. What's your gig?

      • -1

I did not flex or state that I'd share what products I make.

I was sharing credibility on my recommendations.

        I'm a structural engineer with a mechanical/manufacturing background by trade, that's not a flex.

Do you have a similar background like me?

        • He was talking about your side hobby income of 150k. We were curious on what you do exactly to get that much money from using just a CNC machine.

          • @FDA2021: I'm going to be very straight up honest here, and I don't care if it gets negged.

Why would I help individuals that comment like "tell me what you make"?

I'm going to give some advice to people who are reading this:
You need to write better comments/questions if you're requesting someone to share an opinion or business idea that is beneficial to you.

Frame your comment/question in a more thoughtful, respectful, and appreciative manner if you're asking someone how they make good money.

Observe how I structured my original comment, and the time I put into also adding links to other companies. That should have triggered individuals to reply more than a simple one liner.

            That's communication 101, let alone business 101.

I didn't even get a thanks reply and/or an upvote from the person above asking about machine recommendations (they were online today), or even a reply from "thisismyjunkie" when I asked him a question (also was online today).

Please tell why I would help individuals like that? Would you personally help people like that?

Hope some of you out there who reads this, take it as constructive criticism.

I'm not replying to any further comments in this post.

            • @Ausdave: Well this is an OzBargain comment section, not a business meeting. There's no need to be formal when asking questions to other people.

Most of the people that asked you, "what do you make" were just genuinely interested. If I were in your position, I would probably tell everyone because making that much money from a side hobby is crazy. I don't understand why you wouldn't want to share it with us, you could also create some more traffic to your business by just sharing it.
Anyways, it's your choice to tell us or not.

              • @FDA2021: He's just being defensive, probably capping on the 150K

Hi Ausdave. For me, Mecatronics Engineering degree but stuck in project management. $150k from a side hobby is quite an achievement! I'm also going towards the path of setting up a CNC machine at some point. Hoping to achieve similar returns like yours one day.

      • Are you going to answer me?

  • Hello @MakerStore. Been eyeing your Outback CNC series for some time now. Can you share any comparison to the Bulkman 3D Ultimate Bee? Looking at 100x100cm sizing to cut wood, acrylic, brass and aluminum. I see there's no option for 2.2kW air spindle, only water. Curious whether there is a technical reason for this? Cheers.

    • +1

Hi thisismyjunkie, the OutBack CNC model is designed with our upgraded C-Beam HEAVY profile which is paired with steel linear rails to make it very rigid machine. This makes the machine capable of working on the woods and soft metals you are looking at using.

We recommend the 1.5kW Air Cooled Spindle as the tool option. For the materials you want to work on you will achieve the same results with a 1.5kW or 2.2kW spindle, the difference is the size shank you can use on your cutting bits. The 1.5kW ER11 allows up to 7mm shank, the 1.5kW ER16 allows up to 10mm shank, the 2.2kW ER20 allows up to 13mm shank.

We cannot comment on another company's CNC Machine model as we have no experience with their product. Please reach out to our team with any questions you may have and we are happy to go through all options with you! ([email protected])
