Well at least that one has an m.2 slot,.. funny my motherboard is a x470 also.
Gigabyte AORUS ax470 GAMING 7 WIFI

Edit: unpublished?? Lolz
Anyway looking at the ports off the x470 motherboard, is that an old style printer port? Well don't know if anyone here gets on Aliexpress or Alibaba, China still stocks and sells a lot of older generation PC parts, usually follow AMD stuff, there probably tech that came out more then 5 years ago, maybe closer to 10 years old tech stuff
Yeah was watching a Linus tech tips one from a few years ago and it was wild what they purchased in China. The a320 has a VGA port, super niche
It's a DVI port on the x470, not a printer port
@dmouse81: Must be some youngens about never seen these crazy monitor ports
@Budju: young whipper snappers and their digital video signals!
@dmouse81: Even DVI is digital but they don't care.
This gives me early techfast nostalgia
Allied gaming is the supplier of components for Techfast. you can see the Allied logo on the Techfast site.
The motherboard is very very barebones, there's no M.2 and there's also only 1 case fan header. It's usable for say, a PC for mom & pop but would be inadequate to build a gaming rig with. There's better B550 boards for around $65 on Amazon (sold by Yoo's gaming)
More accurately Techfast and Allied are the same ;)
I'd be careful with these I don't believe many or if any A320's have the bios upgrade to be able to use 5XXX series ryzens
None that I know of support the 5xxx series, but would be an okay entry level board for older Ryzen CPUs.
I have this board and asked Biostar about the 5000 series AMD CPU support. They do intend to further support it with a BIOS upgrade in May (more CPUs like the 5600G added to the CPU support list). However this board doesn't have BIOS flashback so you would need an older CPU to do the BIOS upgrade. I originally got this as part of a pre-built from Techfast and it works just fine as a 'Family PC' not for gaming.
Currently I have a Win10, 16GB, 1 TB SATA SSD, AMD 3200G CPU and a WIFI card inside. It's OK at everything and really that should be the expectation (strictly ultra budget build with cheapie components all around).
What to use it for then?
* Test bed for parts or when the more expensive rig is flaky and you need to check things out.
* Grandma PC for basic non-gaming stuff (that being said it can probably do retro gaming OK)
* Small server that doesn't require massive constant processing (NAS, Linux, Backup management)
* Workshop PC (for when you need to get the diagrams and PDFs on screen while you're working on something else).
Wow that's cheap
Got one of these in a prebuilt so happy to answer any questions.
As pointed out by @Italkdigital , no m.2 slot.
VRM: Ran fine with a 1600AF and downdraft cooler, but throttled with a tower cooler (less direct airflow)
Fans: There's x2 4-pin headers, but in BIOS you can only set a curve for the CPU fan header, had to use a 3rd party software to control the SYS fan header (runs at 100% by default).
X470 fpr $40 definitely worth it
these vrms can handle a 12900ks
The VRMS can if you can get the Intel into the socket!!!!!!!!!
trueeeee!!
X470 doesn't seem to be available anymore?
That’s an absolute bargain; I’ve got a old arse system I’m looking to upgrade…
Will these be BIOS upgraded to the latest version or my closest computer store is going to charge me a rip off price to update the BIOS and ask me to wait 1 day to collect?
Checking Biostars website (https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=9…) looks like last update was 2021-06-16
There have been two AGESA releases I believe since that time (maybe even more) so if you buy this board and want to use one of the new low cost cpu's you'll probably find they might not work or have stability issues.
'Buyer beware' and 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind.
Um, I don't think you understand my point. If these aren't BIOS pre-upgraded, you'll need to a compatible CPU to upgrade. Without BIOS pre-upgraded (with a very old CPU that's compatible), if these are really old stock, they may not even work with Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. These boards do not have the BIOS flashback feature (ability to upgrade BIOS without CPU).
Perhaps Allied Gaming is nice and already flashed them to the latest version.
Yes above BIOS for X470 was 2021-06-16.
The A320MH has much newer BIOS updates and latest one (AGESA 1.2.0.6b) is 2022-03-11 and that does support SOME of the Ryzen 5XXX CPUs. Definitely check the CPU support list before buying. CPU support list for A320MH: https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=9….
Basically the bios in these boards are very old and will only support older cpus
If you try to place a newer cpu in these boards with older bios in these motherboards, the boards won't recognize newer cpus, so board doesn't recognize cpu then motherboard/cpu setup won't function/work, doesn't function/work then of course cannot update bios as you need a functioning system going
Only way to upgrade bios is too purchase an older cpu, very old most likely, as @netsurfer stated the cheapest 3000g cpus (actually is a newer architecture) and most likely that won't function/ be recognized by mothrrboards older bios too
(This was a problem about 2 year ish ago maybe 3 years ago,.. when the 2000 series came out and the current motherboards of the day only recognized 1000s series I think around late 2019 /early 2000s, the problem was eventually fixed when manufacturers/retailers sold motherboards with the updated bios to support 2000 series,. even AMD had a cpu kit program were they sent out anyone a kit with an older cpu so one could upgrade there own bios)
You'll probably need a 1000s series cpu or older to function on these motherboards to function and then you'll have the ability to update the bios yourself, then your motherboard will support newer cpus with this newer bios update
Impossible to keep above short but hoped was explained well lolz
Edit: thank God for edit button
When a b450 mortar max is like $80, why would you do this to yourself.
These are for upgrading the most disliked family members pc
True but will they know the difference thats the question
I'm assuming you don't want to go ryzen 5000 with these bad boys
They know when you give them a cheap pc. They are too nice to say anything, but they know.
X470 oos
At $29, it's worth just inserting and plugging shit and seeing what happens lol.
Half tempted to order this just to stress test it XD
Anyone concerned about bios support
https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=9…
they have support of the Ryzen 9 5950X - 105Watts
And also the new Ryzen 7 5800X3D - 105Watts
Make those VRM's feel ALIVE!!
Read my comment above. You need to bear in mind the board if the board came with an older BIOS, you cannot simply put a 5xxx CPU in to then do a BIOS upgrade, you need a compatible CPU first (worst case Ryzen 1xxx series).
It's easy to get over excited about just checking the latest BIOS. If the motherboard does not support BIOS flashback (i.e. the ability to flash BIOS without CPU (and that includes a CPU that's not compatible with the current BIOS)), then you need find a compatible CPU first, flash the BIOS, then put the desire CPU in there.
Local computer stores could request $20 to $40 to do that initial BIOS upgrade for you. Also, some of them won't do it on the spot.
just grabbed one
for $29 worth giving a go for a spare or just making a simple pc
would have grabbed that x470 too if it wasnt out of stock
A320M bottom tier for the win
They are still asking for $120ish for a Ryzen1600 on eBay/Aliexpress. The best bang4buck is $220 Ryzen 5500 6/12thread current gen ~ or a G series if intergrated GPU is of use like the 5600/5700G but at another $200 for the G, id rather put that toward a nVidia 3050!
I recently snagged a 3300x for $130 on ebay. You dont get it anywhere now. I already have a 3700x build. So no idea what to do with it ?LOL
A project to build then play with, then whoops more junk I don't anymore well my life story lolz
Also a good way to test your partner's patience.
If you can get your hands on a cheap Ryzen CPU that's great for budget PC builds. DDR4 is also quite cheap now.
Bought one and hoping to build an R5 1600 rig but it was dead on arrival. Just returned it back via Amazon refund process which was super easy but was hoping I came across an absolute bargain but got disappointed.
Good price though don't see a m.2 slot,.. $50 more with most of the bells snd whistles, though if your on a strict budget then yeah,.. I
