Crappy screen, hardly a gaming cpu. But besides that not bad

    • +2

So you consider Ryzen 5 5600H, hardly a gaming CPU? I beg to differ!

      https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-5600H-vs-In…

Please provide a link to something similar, sub $1000 at the moment, with a similar promotion.

      • My bad, I meant hardly a gaming gpu. The cpu is definitely good enough

    • +3

What do you expected $898 with gift card, not bad for the price.

Not everybody can afford 3090 video card.

    • +2

A "gaming" 5800H would perform about the same, perhaps this is even better in games where the CPU is power limited.

  • Does anyone know what is the LAN ethernet chipset? I googled but can only find specs saying it's 'integrated'. Interest to know if it's Intel/Realtek and model number if possible

  • +1

Good deal, would be better if the RAM were 1x8GB for an easy upgrade.

  • the last nitro deal came under $1,200 equipped with rtx3060 , and dell under $1k with rtx3050

    is this rx5500m somewhere rtx3050 / 1660ti ?

    • Yeah want to know what this GPU is compare to other RTX

      • Dont know how to tag usernames in ozbargain but I just replied to the guy above if you want to check.

Yeah nah I wouldnt recommend this card, It's 20% slower than 1660ti…not a good look tbh

Cant find any good 3050 vs 5500m benchmarks but the 3050 trade blows with the 1660ti, in most traditional non-DLSS games with heavy vram usage the 1660ti comes out on top but otherwise 3050 would be better.

I would wait for the 1.1k 3060 nitro 5 deal to come back. These older mobile radeon chips just dont cut it, definitely not for 998$

  • For student level solidworks and casual gaming, this or the recent ThinkPad E15 gen 3 & gen 4 deal?

    • If you can wait. The zen 3+ 6000 apu series laptop is just around the corner. Integrated rdna 2 graphic with very good thermal and watt efficiency.

      • It's going to sell like hot cakes I am sure. What an excruciating wait!

      • Yeah but they wont be close to this price and you have to pay for the DDR5 premium

      • Yeah hold…

    • this for certain

      • Thanks! so the nitro 5 u mentioned above would be better in both 3d modeling/gaming than the 2 laptops I mentioned right?

        • Depending on the model. If it’s the 10300h/3060 model, it will be much better in games but not sure about solidworks. If its the 11400h model (but this will be more expensive at ~1.3k), then definitely better all around.
