  • Q1200 is goooone.

    • +1

Q1200? It looks like there's stock for all 3 colours

      • +2

It disappeared for me and now it's up. My bad.

Finally but the bullet and bought my first bbq. Cheers mate.

  • Is that a good price for the go anywhere? I think that one seems useful enough to use at home

    • +1

Standard price is $140. Anything under $120 is probably ok.

I bought mine for $90, FWIW.

      • Thanks for letting me know! Guess I can wait!

        • +1

i doubt itd pop up at $90 very often. $111 is a good price

    Weber Go-Anywhere Charcoal BBQ $111.96

Warning, they will not let you take this into the MCG for the footy…

    • +2

      What about the q3200?

      • +19

        I didn't try that one…

Got into a big argument with the guy at the gate though…
He seemed not to understand what 'Go-Anywhere' means…

        • +5

They should call it the Go-Anywhere*

        • +10

Try on a flight next for in-flight dining…

    • -1

I used to own one ….. because of the small size it looses heat and due to amount of charcoal used doesn't hold heat long….. sold it after a couple of uses , in this size I would definitely go for gas next time e.g baby Q ? or similar.

I have a weber kettle, love it but it takes a lot more charcoal so has more heat and for longer.

      • +5

        it looses heat

        Tight heat is definitely better…

      • +6

I'm going to disagree with this comment but YMMV.

I have made a rotisserie for my CGA and it is excellent, makes my 22" roti redundant for anything apart from large party cooks.

I've also got a special sized tray for indirect/offset cooking and the heatbeads I put in there last over an hour, perfect for doing steaks reverse sear. And even beef ribs by simply topping up the fuel to get more hours.

The CGA is used more now that my 22" kettle.

        • +6

I used to have one and once forgot to put down the legs. Lots of smoke that time, mostly from the table underneath.

          • @fantombloo: Haha yup, don't cook on a plastic trestle table either ;)

        • +1

Woah, that sounds awesome! What's the special tray that you used? I'm curious how that all works.

Get the 30 x 24cm. Leaves you enough room to bank coals on one end. You then open and close vents accordingly to regulate and direct the heat flow over the meat end.

            • @kickling: Thanks, I'll give it a go!

              • +1

@onesandtwos: Can send pics if you want to see how it's done.

                • @kickling: Cheers, appreciate it! I use the GA most weeks as a way to meal prep as well as relax/cap off the weekend, so trying a reverse sear can be part of my weekly aromatherapy/mindfulness.

                  • +2

@onesandtwos: Yeah, this tray will make things much easier. Being SS you can dishwasher or oven cleaner it with ease.

I thought about getting mini charcoal baskets to go on the ends, but this tray kills two birds with one stone.

If you get a mid size riser (eg 100mm) and a little rib rack / dish rack you can do a few sets of beef shorties too (standing on their ends)

      • +3

I've not had that experience at all. GA gets the biggest workout at my place so I don't have to waste a full chimney of charcoal for a smaller cook.

      • +1

I also disagree, the temperature/burn rate can be controlled with the side vents and/or the lid.

For its size it cooks more than enough for a family of 5… All night long too without a refill.

I have four BBQs, 4 burner gas (which i don't use at all), spit roaster for lamb/pigs, Weber performer premium and the go anywhere. The go anywhere gets the most use because of its size.

Its definitely a heavy hitter for charcoal. Perfect to leave in the boot, really like how the legs fold up to secure the lid.

Fits about 4-5 rib eyes on the bone at once. Won't be the best for a large party but depending on what you cook is way more then enough most nights e.g. skewers & veg all night long.

Maybe use a different fuel. I use e.g. charcoal branches

Did you no tell him that the MCG is short for "Might Cook on my Go-anywhere?

Jetstar let me take mine on a recent flight.

Charcoal cooked wagu at 30000 feet was the best experience, it is what I imagine flying first class must be like.

Everyone else on the plane was looking at me with envy.

      • +3

Everyone else on the plane was looking through the smoke at me with envy.

        • I was on that flight! I nearly passed out from carbon monoxide poisoning, I think you must have felt bad about it because you gave me a sausage.

Anyone have opinions on the Weber SmokeFire EX4, looking for a nice smoker, done a bit of research but there's a lot to consider.

    • +2

It's alright. Most ppl go for the EX6.

If you're just beginning your pellet journey, lots of people like starting with the Navigator 850g from bunnings.

20% off the Qx200 premium models is a great deal. These are only sold through the Weber Premium partners and rarely go on sale. Free shipping is icing!

i have been obsessively looking at the q1200 for weeks now, and the one day I didnt , this sale goes up haha nice one op

The q1200 also comes with 4 pack weber seasonings which by the way the description is written, is included rather than being a bs via redemption addition.

  • +1

Yesssss it's finally happened. After waiting 2 years to get one at this price I've signally scored a Webber q1200! Thank you!

  • -1

At a glance, this looks better & much cheaper, not made by Weber though

    • not that i approve of it - but dang thats cheap enough to be practically disposable haha

      • Can be recycled though i suppose, it is made from S/S.

    • That is damn cheap, can anyone who has one already provide feedback?

      • seller has good reviews, thats a start.

      • Looks great fit a kids play bbq!

      • +1

its basically a s/s bucket for hot coals..how can you go wrong?

    • Just noticed a further $10 off using 'AFTERPAY10'.

      $28.95 Delivered.

      • hmm..10 of these bad boys, or 1 x q1200…

        edit bought the Q1200 HAHA

        • I obviously posted this as an alternative to the 'Go Anywhere', not the other types.

        • what colour did you get

        • How is that even remotely funny?

    • +3

I've been stung by glances before, lol. Weber GA has a army of followers that swear by it and make custom accessories all over the world. BBQ Galore make their version of it which does drop down to $70 on sale, which I considered for a long time… but the quality just aint there. The metal warps and the paints peels. I think what you posted is good and basic, but I'm sure the Weber would be better constructed, bigger (but still compact), more features e.g. vent, and obvs Webers big selling point is the customer service. but yeah, I've considered getting what you posted too, so thought i'd add my thought to help :) It's like those barrel 3in1 smokers grills that are like $60, but others are $300… then you go to Bunnings and actually see what it looks like, then you realise why cheap stuff is cheap. But yeah, at the end of the day, it depends on what you want to do with it, so only pay for what you use. But anything that uses charcoal, but doesn't have adjustable vents, you might as well just get some tin trays and a rack for a few bucks ;-P

    • +1

      It will be thin garbage.

The weber GA has a 10 year warranty, and will literally last you the rest of your life.

I will put money on it that ebay junk will be full of rust within 6 months.

      • I bought one 4 yrs ago from Woolies it cost me 20$ been use it ever since, even though the paint peels off and certain metal bit falls off but still working :)

However, this Weber GA is getting me interested but thanks to caprimulgus I'll wait for bit longer :)

  • +2

Anyone recommend a small gas tank for Q1200 if I want to take it to the beach?
Dont really want to lug around the 9kg tank…

    • you can get 4.5kg LPG bottles.

      • Can go smaller than that too but you'd need an adaptor from 3/8" to POL fitting. https://www.bcf.com.au/p/code-4-gas-bottle-2kg-3%2F8/362433.…

      • I was more referring to the little tanks that seem to screw directly to the unit. Seems to be a thing in a lot of American videos of the Q1000/1200 but can’t find anything really in Australia.

        • Yep, want that too!

  • Good price for Q1200

  • The weber jumbo joe is probably the lowest that i've seen - $143.20

  • +1

Weber GA is great for smaller cooks. I've also got a kettle and a bullet smoker and the GA probably gets the biggest workout at my place as I'm usually only cooking for 1-2 people. Great for reverse searing steaks.

  • Best weber to replace one of those old counter top BBQs? Don't need the stand as I am looking at replacing one thats sitting on the counter top

    • +1

The Weber traveler at $479.20 is a cracking deal.We use ours at home and also take it camping. Steak comes out perfectly after 3 mins either side.
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313856283299?epid=2321898991&_tr…

      • Ahh can it be detached from the trolley and put permanently on a counter top? I don't need a portable option but also not sure if the weber q sits on a counter weird

  • This is sh!t. Handles melted after one time use from the heat.

  • -6

I’m sorry. These are terribly environmentally unfriendly. Charcoal or gas. Ooooh. All that co2. Is there a version powered by windmills or solar panels so I can cook my non meat vegan sausages and feel guilt free while doing so.

  • Need to replace a Weber Q that was stolen from the backyard, anyone seen any good deals on those? Mine had the thermometer on the front, probably want to get the same

    • +2

Well…all of the Q deals in this sale look pretty good really.

    • Mine had the thermometer on the front

You have to get it from this deal from weber Q store.

  • GA is out of stock sadface.

  • i need this

  • the Weber Traveler Portable Gas Grill is also on sale, $480.00 with discount https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313856283299.

  • Go-Anywhere Charcoal BBQ is great.
I got mine for about 100 from my local camping store.
Did a nice brisket over Jarrah and pear wood over 4 hours. Good heat control ability and fuel efficient. Not easy to clean though.

    • +1

Just take the handles off and douse in oven cleaner. Try to avoid the aluminium parts. Hose off. Easy.

    • +1

      brisket??? On the GA?

      So many questions…
      Direct heat?
      Worlds smallest brisket?
      howw??????

      • -1

I'm sure you're knowledgeable enough to know you cant cook a direct heat brisket on a GA for 4 hours.

        • I'm a chef. I'll try what I want thanks = )

I'm sure you will also be disappointed I made a pizza when camping using a similar stove.
I first cooked the base by putting the pizza in a car iron pan on top of the stove, and then when crispy I put the pan under the stove and loaded in more Jarrah to get the top melted and crispy from the heat thrown downwards.

I also did wedges to go with fresh caught fish under the BBQ! Pic below:

          • +1

@Exprise: You said below that you moved the jarrah and coals to the edges - that is indirect heat. ;)

I think you owe anzacpaul an apology and retracted downvote. :)

            • +1

              @caprimulgus: Ahh okay, sorry haha

I thought the term indirect means heat in a different 'smoking chamber'. The heat was fairly direct but did at much as I could to soften it.

              • @Exprise: All good mate!

In fairness, it's probably a bit of a grey area. It's more direct than having the heat source completely separate (like a separate chamber), but technically if the coals were to the side, that is indirect heat (direct is when the food is directly above the heat source / in contact with the flames).

Depending on how far to the edges your coals were, yours might be an edge case (pun intended! lol). But I think most would still call it indirect. :)

Either way, I'm 100% sure anzacpaul wasn't having a go at you with his comment! :)

          • +1

@Exprise: You may be disappointed to know my comment wasn't directed at you.

      • It was $48 and about 2.5kg.

I yes direct heat but controlled to about 110 degrees using the vents to 'smother' the flames.

I moved the Jarrah and coals to the edges and soaked pear wood in water, wrapped in foil and put in the centre.

Cooked it for just over 4 hours and it was tender but a bit dry. I will be brining next time. It didn't last long it was so tasty.

        Here are some pics:

Seriously impressed by this. Nice work thinking outside the box.

I have a Masterbuilt 560 that I use for bigger cuts, but most of the small briskets I have done (2-3kgs) always come out a bit too dry for me.
If I only want to do a small cut of smoked beef, i usually stick to chuck roast or oyster blade. Comes out 1000x times better than any small brisket I have ever done. Just my 2c (Disclaimer, I am not a chef, just a backyard BBQ battler!)
