  • $1,204 with 16gb extra RAM - 24gb total. (There's no option for 8gb extra, but there is a slot, so you could just upgrade it yourself)

Did you take a photo of the reps face when you suggested the use of promo code ArsePad ?

  • +2

I bought the gen2 version of this laptop and the keyboard stopped working twice in 12 months and my friend's USB-C charging port broke off. I hope they've fixed these issues.

  • Nice my wife has been looking for a 15.6 laptop

  • Any cash back from Cash Rewards on this like the previous deal having 3% cash back?

    • +3

Yes, 3.5% this time. I can't link it here but if you search for Lenovo on CR, you'll see the offer with a direct link to the product :)

  • Comes with 2242 SSD. Does anyone know if it takes 2280 sized drives also?

    • +1

      On the tech sheet:

      Storage Slot
      Two M.2 slots
      • One M.2 2242 PCIe® Gen 3x4 slot, supports M.2 2242 SSD
      • One M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3x4 slot, supports M.2 2280 SSD

      • Weird… I looked closer and the tech specs says single 2280 4x4 SSD.

        • yeah the tech sheet is confusing as hell:

          Storage Type***[2]
          Disk Type Interface Offering Security
          M.2 2280 SSD PCIe NVMe®, PCIe 4.0 x4 1TB Opal2
          M.2 2242 SSD PCIe NVMe, PCIe 4.0 x4 256GB / 512GB Opal2
          Notes:
1.The storage capacity supported is based on the test results with current Lenovo storage offerings. The system may support larger
          storage as the technology develops.
          2. The SSD with PCI 4.0x4 is downgraded to closer to PCIe 3.0x4 due to the system slot limitation.

hmmm this or the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 Pro https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/693708

I would say that the ThinkBook is probably a better deal for most:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/691663

    • Better display
    • Faster processor
    • 1 extra USB-C port
    • both USB-A ports are USB3 - E14 has 1xUSB3, 1xUSB2(!)
    • SD card reader
    • Windows Hello webcam as default (E14 is optional extra)
    • Supports DP 1.4 (important for those using USB-C docks and multiple monitors, can support 2x 2560 by 1440 rather than 2x 1920 by 1080)
    • smaller bezels

New AMD 5625U is nearly functionally identical to last year's 5600U - this is barely an upgrade to last year's model.

    • But smaller screen

    • +2

And better placement of the ctrl key 😁

      • haha true.. but can be switched in vantage.
still not sure why its that way though

        • Should also be able to do it in the BIOS. That's how I changed it on my X240.

        • Unfortunately not on my work laptop :/

      • Should be on punishment of death not having ctrl hard left. Anyone switched and moved the keycaps?

        • +1

No need. You can switch the key functions in the bios.

But i agree theres a place in hell for whoever thought it was a good idea to switch these around.

        • +2

Can't be done. Different size keys.

        • it happens that the Mac and Thinkpad keyboards both have the FN key in the corner. It makes for nice muscle memory as I'm used to it :)

    • But yours is Gen 2 and this is Gen 4 .. does it make much difference?

      • +2

Not really, Gen2 v Gen4 comparisons are only valid within the same lineup (e.g. E15 Gen2 AMD vs Gen4 AMD). You have to look at the specs not the name.

The ThinkBook 14p is a newer chassis first released last year vs the E14/E15 which succeeded the E495/E595 after 2019 so naturally the E14/E15 has more generations since.

    • Thanks for your tip - I ended up buying the Thinkbook you recommended after comparing specs

    Thanks TA/OP.

    ordered 3x!

    • Haha negged for ordering 3.. WTF
I run a business and use these for staff

  • Is the warranty on these valid for NZ?

    • +2

Just asked Lenovo for you. Yes it is.

      • +1

        Thank you!

Any Legion deals coming up TA? About to pull the trigger on something else but would prefer to wait if a legion deal is on the cards

    • +1

+1, any lenovo deal with a dedicated GPU on the cards would be amazing.

      • +10

Just put all requests here, as I know Lenovo monitors these comments. Will then do my best to negotiate strong pricing with them. Cheers.

        • Hopefully Lenovo monitors comments on Lenovo Monitors like the ThinkVision P32p-20

  • This is very tempting. I don't even really need a new laptop. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • +2

Need? What is this need you speak off? Thats not very ozbargain of you.

    • Yeah here we buy what we want and need is irrelevant.

  • Sadly the screen can't be upgraded, surely a T14 screen would be a direct fit

    • +1

      14" screen in a 15.6" laptop?

      • Challenge accepted.

  • Hi. Can we charge the laptop with a portable battery via usbc ?Thanks

        • Thanks both !

Looks like the Gen 3 edu deal, Ryzen 7 5700U, 512GB is still better?

  • Thanks TA. After a lot of thought, bought this today. Cash Rewards was 5% as well. Ryzen 7, 24 GB Ram, 512 GB SSD and 3 Year Warranty. Will replace my 4+ year old Dell Desktop at home, which is struggling now for basic Word Processing, Excel and multiple tab's open on browser.

  • Anyone got theirs yet?

    • mine just arrived.

  • Does anyone have a screen grab of the Cash Rewards with the coupon link?
My purchase didn't track, I opened an inquiry and CR has just declined my cashback saying it's not listed as a valid coupon :\
Which I guess is true right now, but it was listed when the deal was active.

    • +1

There's no way CR can decline cashback on this deal as it's a TA code which is exclusive to Cashrewards. Not sure why the support team told you that, as the code was definitely listed as valid. Please PM me the ticket number and your CR email address and I'll take care of it. Thanks.

      • +1

Thanks for sorting that out TA (and quickly too!)
CR has confirmed it's tracking now.

        Once again, much appreciated TA
