    usually the rental car cover is triggered by paying for the flight, rather than paying for the car rental

      It's a different cover. It's the "Rental vehicle excess" cover, which covers rental vehicle damage. For example in NAB Qantas Black card T&C:

      To be eligible, the entire payment for the vehicle rental is charged to the account holder’s card account.

      The one that is triggered by paying for the flight is "Travel Insurance", which covers travel cancellation, medical emergency, death, baggage etc.

    I assume the initial deposit paid through travel agent doesn't count. The remaining balance paid at the counter should go through as the hotel or car rental company's EFTPOS

    I only have booked flight through AMEX. I just checked my statement, the merchant name is "AMEX TRAVEL ONLINE MERC SYDNEY"

  For those who didn't get the Hilton offer, check again. I didn't have it either earlier today but it has just appeared on my Edge and Charge cards. Still no sign of the Marriott offer though!

  Stayed 2 nights at Marriot. Split the transaction at the desk to pay by 2 separate cards on which the offers were saved. Got credit $100 back on one with the email acknowledgment while still waiting on the 2nd while payment is already processed. It shows online and on app that the offer has been redeemed on both accounts. Does anyone know how long would it take or should I be chasing Amex already?

      I used one at Meriton and have already got credit
      Used 2 at Marriott from 2 separate cards. Shows offer redeemed for both cards. Credit processed only for 1.

    In the same boat here. Offer terms say 90 days, and it's already been 3 weeks with no credit. I got the email but the app hasn't put it in the "recently redeemed" section…

    I suspect if I chase up AMEX now they'll quote offer T&Cs and ask for me to wait, like they did for many people on the Menulog offer.

  Mine did get processed 4-5 days after I posted here. Funnily checking now was showing a backdated process date of 30 April. So be patient I think. As long as you got a notification it will and should.

  Can anyone confirm that Avis offer is not activated if paying full hire amount upfront , even if car due to be collected and returned after 30/6/22? Hopeful

  You must collect, return, and make payment for a rental vehicle by 30/06/2022 to be eligible for the offer. Pre-authorisation amounts taken when collecting a vehicle are not eligible for the offer.
