    Maple Fingerboard

Pfffft. To be fair their core business is not selling guitars.

    • +2

Yea and they do not even bother to put Squier in their item title.

    • To be fair, the majority of guitars are bought and sit in the corners of bedrooms collecting dust.

      • Mine do :(

      • Keyboard in the corner, guitars under my bed.

  • +2

    Does it djent?

    • +1

      ANYthing can djent

    • 6 strings ought to be enough for anyone…

  • Better than Yamaha pacifica 112v?

    • +1

It would be of a similar quality - good entry level guitars.

    • +1

Pacifica are awesome and seriously under rated. Upgrade to the highest level you can afford.

      112v

1 -100 series (base model range with Alder body)
      1 - 1 humbucker
      2 - 2 single coils
      V - newer model

      • I've tried a few pacificas,
I feel like they veer into superstrat territory a little.
Mabye good if you aren't into Texas blues/that chimey sweet tone

  • I may be wrong, but this looks like the same guitar with an amp, case, strap and free delivery included for $1 more (albeit without the gorgeous red aesthetics) :

Correct. You are wrong. Bullet vs. Standard

    • Yeah you're wrong.

      One is a Squier Strat

The other is a Squier Stratocaster

      Colours do affect prices too.

But for Squier they produce different ranges off similar looking guitar, with different hardware, materials and places of manufacture.

For a beginner the pack with amp and bag would be fine

It might be a Chinese made one out of cheaper wood with cheaper hardware, but it'll still play like a guitar.

I have a vintage Squier in Sunburst that looks similar to the one in the pack, yet it's made in Japan and the hardware will be different.

      • And vintage MIJ Squiers can command some decent coin these days.

        • +2

Yeah that's why I don't even play it.. Scared of damaging it by bumping into something, so it lives in the case.

Bought a cheap Artist LP instead

@edrift: Quote "One is a Squier Strat

The other is a Squier Stratocaster" they both not the same?

            • @ilove: The Standard is an older model that was retired in 2019 - so this is old stock.

The Standard has the larger 70s headstock and deeper, heavier body that some people prefer, compared to the Affinity which uses a thinner body. The standard took a lot of backwards steps between its early '00s introduction and when it was discontinued.

The Bullet has also been retired, with the Affinity now the base range for '22, as the quality/vs price/reputation the quality of the Bullet was giving Fender/Squier compared to what you get in an Affinity was just not worth it.

            • @ilove: Just going what is printed on the head stock.
              One says Strat, other Stratocaster.

But yeah, they're both strats, but different series

          • +1

@edrift: Artist Guitars are insanely good value imo. I bought an Artist TC59 last year on sale for $199 and I was very impressed with the quality. Not as nice as the Fender MIM Player Strat and Squier Classic Vibe Tele I used to own, but very close.

            • @apollo21: so one is bullet the other is standard squier strato

Question how much is a 2005 USA made Fender Stratocaster? value I mean

            • @apollo21: yes the finish of them is immaculate. It looks like it's worth a lot more than it costs.

Not sure about the sound - i dont know much about different tones, quality of pickups, etc, but it plays ok.

The only drawback is that after i bought it (used) i noticed that the neck was slightly twisted… which i know is bad because it can't be corrected. Having said that, it hasn't caused any playability issues for me.

          • +1

@edrift: I have an Artist LP as well, it looks and feels great - I dont play it though as I like strats more than LP's

    • The 10G pack has a Bullet Strat - stay clear. The 15G pack has an Affinity or Affinity HSS, and the quality of the 21 Affinity models is bloody solid. I have a '21 Affinity HSS and '17 MIM Fender Player Strat, and a '20 Affinity Tele and the quality of the '21 Affinity Strat is fantastic for the money.

Product shots of the Lake Placid Blue used in the pack don't do it justice. You also have to decide whether you want a Maple, Laurel or Rosewood fingerboard, or whether you want Lacquered or matte/sanded - all these things are personal preference.

  • Just buy the newest Affinity, their pickups got refreshed in 2021.

  • on the subject of Guitar i don't like the 70s big headstock on this one…, I'm looking for a 12 string ascoutic. looking at Eastman and taylor but a offer of a $1000 guild one just came up. I heard guild was bought out and the company don't know about building guitars…

Should I go eastman. (made in Beijing) or Taylor?

    • LOL, Cordoba has owned Guild for nearly a decade

  • +1

Anyone here into jazz masters? Pros/cons?

    • People will have different views. But IMO, having owned both:

      Pros:
      - Better at higher gain/overdrive & bigger reverb
      - Can go really dark, for those subtle jazz fill
      - Brighter sound in general

      Cons:
      - Not as tight as Strat esp for funk or blues

      • So many guitars, too little time.

  • Just to be clear for any newbies considering this, the photo isnt a maple fingerboard….Its Indian laurel

    • To be fair the narrative states "maple or Indian laurel fingerboard" so it might be an option further into the purchase process.

    • I'd go the Squier over the Yamaha… At least you can say you have a real Stratocaster instead of a Strat copy.

Or I'd get the Epiphone SG.

      • Lol, yeah, that's a real strat. Great decision-making strategy.
