  • That XPS rig in the link only has 16gb ram and a 3060 Ti? am i missing something

    • Copied the wrong title. Updated, thanks.

Perfect monitor price for instant tax write-off for the home office

    • +6

How long will you monitor the price?

What price are you waiting for?

      • I'm not waiting, I grabbed one last year when they dropped below $300 which is the threshold for immediate tax write-off (no depreciation junk)

        • +1

They were making a pun 😭😭😭

        • +7

Won't the tax invoice show the amount prior to the 20% discount if the purchase is via eBay?

      • +1

For as long as it's displayed.

    • Be careful, Dell Tax Invoice usually has the original price, which the ATO and your accountant would recognise.

      • +2

Ah possibly, I got it from Dell direct $280.81 (💪) so invoice was exactly what I paid.

I do my own tax and would claim what I paid, whilst technically not an Tax Invoice I can prove the real price, and would argue this with ATO if audited - not tax advice but just my take on common sense approach. I thought tax invoice required for GST purposes but proof of purchase probably okay for other deductions.

      • +3

did not matter. you have eBay confirmation for amount you paid, not invoiced.

    • -2

No, it is not - it is a bad screen. Dell Australia is selling damaged stock.

I've sent my Dell S2721QS back twice in the last month. The backlight has issues fading towards the edges. Each time Dell has replaced my new screen with a "refurbished" model which has other issues.

I regret my Dell S2721QS purchase.

      • +1

I bought one in December, it's worked perfectly.

Fantastic monitor, bought it based on great review on rtings and the picture is truly excellent.

Unless you have actual evidence of lots of reported problems with this model, then it might just be that you got a lemon. Bit hard to extrapolate your single experience to "Dell is selling damaged stock".

        • have had mine over a year and it’s used all day working from home …..no issues

          • @garage sale: Same here, great monitor for work. Just wish it could go a bit faster than 60Hz.

      • +1

Interesting. I purchased a S2722QC during the AfterPay sale. The first one to arrive was already opened and missing components. Returned it to Dell.

The second S2722QC has been great so far touch wood.

  • In the XPS, will the included 460w power supply struggle with the 3060 GPU?

    • As long as you’re not pushing it, it’s fine. My 8940 with 11700k+3070+500W PSU only crashes when I maxed out the CPU boost in XTU. Works just fine even with artificial load.

Well you can’t overclock it anyway, not with the stock motherboard.

      • The 460W in the 8950 is 80+ Bronze.

The 500W in the 8940 was 80+ Platinum.

        • Efficiency doesn't make much of a difference to how much power it can supply, just how much extra power it has to pull from the wall to deliver the rated power. Dell PSUs tend to be pretty good at delivering rated wattage.

          • @brosk1s: Bronze = Lower quality components = Lower efficiency = More wasted heat generated = Accelerated capacitor degradation

460W is really pushing it as it is and compared to the 500W Platinum I just don't trust this PSU to last as long.

Would be nice if Dell offered us upgrade options other than extended warranty. In the US you can pay $50 USD (~$66 AUD) to upgrade to a 750W Platinum.

      • Thanks. Is it worth paying the extra few hundred for the more expensive XPS if I am only a casual gamer and the machine will be used mainly for home office work? I know a 3060 is a decent video card but I don't know much about the other GPU RX 6700?

        • Not now. GPU price is dropping so these prebuilt is not cheaper than DIY anymore. Also we know Dell is notorious at using shxt parts and poor case thermal performance.

          • @BennyHe2018: Yeah I have heard mixed reports about Dell pre builds. I have a 3 year old Dell 8930 and it has been flawless so maybe I got lucky?

            • +1

@nollidge: You're not lucky but just being true to your decision. It's just people having unrealistic expectation to those pre-builds. You gotta do the homework before buying anything and then make a decision. I like the compact size of XPS 8940 and after cooler upgrades and I'm satisfied with everything and of course happy with the decision, just like you. However you can't expect it's the turnkey solution for everyone, isn't it ;)

          • +1

@BennyHe2018: Dunno about Dell but I've got a prebuild HP desktop and it's been rock solid - most reliable PC I've ever owned

            • +1

@Genepi: we have dell workstations for people where laptop doesn't cut it ….. unbox and use and no issues and we don't have out IT department trying to run cable ties, etc.

  • +12

These prebuilt are a lot less appealing after seeing the GPU price drops over the past few weeks

    • totally

    • +3

Used to be a bargain now they cost more

    • +1

I know right, the RTX 3070 Aurora R14 is nearly $1000 more than the TechFast one ($1444), and is probably built with worse parts.

    • +1

Hope Dell will drop more in their next 20% sale and match closer to BPC or TF prebuilts, then we can call these a bargain!

  • Dell S2721QS is already showing 299.89
Actually showing out of stock though…so maybe stock tomorrow as described

    • or get the s2722 and have usb-c $70 more for the s2722 …..hmmmm

      • where are you getting the s2722 for $70 more? I presume you're talking about the qc model, as it's the only 4k usb-c one I can find ($70 is much cheaper than a decent dock so if using with a laptop it's an easy call in my opinion)

  • -3

    Monitor is OOS

    • +7

Maybe that's why OP mention (live 31/3 10am)

    • I think it is because the deal is not live till tomorrow

  • Decent deal for the 27 inch monitor.

  • +1

Waiting for S2722DGM to be 299 again

  • +2

    Hey Dealbot

Any chance of a similar previous deal on the S3221QS monitor ??

    • +1

      Seconded

    • I am waiting for the U2723QE to drop to a doable price.

    • +1

Asked dealbot yesterday about this (32qs) in the hope they would match their website price which would bring it down (after 20%) to $430ish but apparently they won't budge.

    • +2

Not enough stock hence why no further discount.

  • +2

The S2722QC has USB C (with a dp logo on it?), contrast 1000:1, no dp
The S2721QS has DisplayPort, contrast1300:1, no usb c connection
All other specs are basically identical.

  • God dammit, I just bought 2 of these last week from Dell ebay for $350 each

  • -1

Haha 'G'TX3060Ti on their page …
Dealbot is amazing and can make Dell dropped all their gaming rigs prices and extended the deal to 4th now, thank you dealbot!

  • Dell S2721QS ($299) or Samsung LS27A700NWEXXY($329)?

    • +3

Dell screen is bit brighter and has a higher contrast ratio. Both are port challenged IMHO.

  • +2

Thanks for your efforts to get these extra deals!

  • +4

We're needing a few ultrasharps with usb c for work, but there are all full price. any chance you can work your magic on something like that db?

  • Estimated delivery of May 3-10 for the monitor, is it typical to have a long lead time and come quicker or sounds about right?

    • Yes I would like to know this too - early may seems a long time…

    • FYI - response from Dell eBay store:
We cannot guarantee a specific date for the delivery yet but we are optimistic the delivery will be earlier than the estimates as generally, our monitors are processed and fulfilled within 7-15 working days… We do not offer express/expedited shipping or pick-up service but we will work hard in getting the item to you as soon as possible.

Once your booking information is available, most probably by early next week, you will be able to monitor your order's progress on the website and will be able to see more specific timeframes and ETA of your order.

    • FYI - for anyone following along, monitors out for delivery today by StarTrack express. They were dispatched yesterday from Sydney to Brisbane. Very good turn around considering their eta was mid May.

      • Mine was delivered Friday, can't complain about delivery.

  • Why doesn’t the dell20p work for me? Always get an error message

  • Waiting for similar pricing on s2722dc.

  • -1

I'm going to be blunt, the prebuilts here are trash for value considering the recent market shifts.

    Proprietary parts

Terrible cooling. R14 has a 120mm aio for the cpu. That might be fine for a 5600x in a case that doesn't have shit airflow but definitely not for the 5800x.

    Monitor's nice but the rest…

    • +2

Consider these are like laptops for less tech savvy people who want branded systems. Even laptops have proprietary parts and people buy them.

      • -4

Less tech savvy people aren't browsing the computing section of Ozbargain, at least I hope not. Though that might explain why so much rubbish gets posted here.

If they really want a branded prebuilt then they can get any of the other prebuilt deals and tape on a printed alienware logo. Posting an alienware prebuilt that isn't anywhere near enough a deal is a no-brainer neg. Either way this is Ozbargain, not Ozexpensivebrandedtrash. There's literally a techfast deal a couple posts down that's cheaper, better specced and isn't filled with locked down parts.

Laptops are proprietary because it's hard to break into at this point and change things but that's a conversation for another day. Although you can build your own laptop, it's nowhere near as free as building your own desktop system.

        • We all know and trust Techfast. Not everybody does. There are lot of people here on OZB that dont know shit about computers, they are usually in the other sections and they want gaming PC with technical support. There is always a market for everyone. I am pretty sure, dell sells more than techfast. This deal is for such people. I personally keep people away from dell prebuilts now that prices are coming down. And I did not neg you.

        • +3

Hang on…if this is the cheapest for this brand and model, isn't that worth posting? There are many reasons why people may want Alienware over other brands. Is this OzBargain or OzJerraJonesOpinion? I feel like negging this deal is pretty stupid.

          • -3

@Balljuice: It's a PC, it's irrelevant and vain as to what brand it is the only thing that matters is the internal components. I'd have to hand in my Ozb licence if I didn't neg a bad deal.

            • @JerraJones: Sorry that would be an incorrect stance to take IMHO.

It would be a good deal for someone who is looking for an Aurora prebuilt and doesn't want a Techfast built rig or a DIY.

For example, look at the dominos or KFC or some other dogshit-tier fastfood trash (Red rooster) that is posted here. They are a deal for their respective audience. From my perspective, you're better off getting some nice Banh mi or some other relatively more wholesome ethnic food (or cook something up at home)… but for folks jonesing for a dirty eat, that's what they want and a deal is a deal.

Negging this because it's trash for value would be like me negging all the KFC/Domino deals because of the reasons mentioned above.

              • @ThadtheChad: What a god awful analogy, food isn't the same at different restaurants due to different ingredients/methods to cook used. PCs on the other hand are far more uniform. I can buy a 5800x from across the world and it'll be the exact same 5800x I would buy here.

Here's a better analogy. You can buy a 300 dollar 5600x from PCCG or you can buy a 400 dollar 5600x from Scorptec. The Scorptec deal would be rightfully negged, why is this so different?

The fact that I have to actually argue against paying an extra 30-40% for a worse PC from a worse manufacturer on OZBARGAIN of all sites is (profanity) embarrassing. This place has 0 standards now.

                • +1

@JerraJones: Alright mate, you're getting way too bent out of shape over this.

All I was trying to say was that if I wanted to buy Alienware Aurora, this would be a good deal. The question is not whether the Aurora itself is a good deal I reckon.

Personally, I run a DIY rig as I enjoy building my own.

    • +2

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted when you’re speaking facts, and I owned an Alienware for years. Never again.

For people considering an Alienware, please take a look at this video
      https://youtu.be/8ulhFi5N2hc

      • +1

I had an Alienware and it was below par. Then got a prebuilt HP and it's been rock solid, now 9 years old and hasn't missed a beat.

  • +2

Any better deals for 4K UHD S3221QS Monitor, its currently $479 from Dell Direct (eBay store)? :)

    • +2

I remember getting it for $350 in the old days

      • +2

Great pick for 350. I want this to go below $400.

  • Currently, this item (Dell S2721QS) is out of stock. Will it be restocked?.

  • +3

Honestly, I just don't trust Dell any more. Every time I buy something from them, there are issues.
    Their quality control is terrible.

  • +3

The Dell S2721QS monitor was $276 last year. I better wait until May hopefully dropped to $249.

  • +1

Might wait and see what Easter brings for specials 😂

  • Just a heads up on delivery time frame.

Bought a G3223Q on the 23/3/22, got shipped on the 28/3/22 and arrived on the 30/3/22.

Unfortunately there was a dead pixel. A few backwards and forwards and now they’re organising a replacement.

    • How’s the monitor?

      • Good? I bought it for GT7. Jumped from a 24 inch Dell U2314 / TCL 55

Everything looks sharper as expected, and more smoother. Big difference in quality between the 24 to the 32, wouldnt say so much from the 55 to the 32.

I am no monitor expert and just got it for the bigger screen for the GT7 immersion lol dont take this comment too seriously!

  • Waiting for the Dell S2421HS 24" deal again for $150
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/691764

  • Waiting for stock to be added

  • +3

Is there a deal for a minitor 32 inches 4k hdr?

    • +1

Real HDR on monitors is unfortunately limited to only a handful of monitors such as Alienware AW3423DW or Samsung Odyssey G9 which are both 1440p.

LG OLED48C1 is pretty much the only proper 4k HDR monitor out there that isn't specifically a monitor designed for professionals that need colour accurate panels (that also cost professional prices). Other Oleds at this size just use the same panel with some different tuning/features.

HDR just isn't a feature aimed at people who buy monitors, people just buy TVs for that.

  • I am not really an expert when it comes monitors. I have a budget of about $300-$400 for a decent monitor, typically for gaming (PS5) and occasionally for work. Currently on the lookout for a good deal and want to know if S2721QS is worth getting. Alternatively, I am open to buying the S2722DGM which is an additional $40.

    • It’s a great monitor for that use-case. Just make sure your computer can power the 4K resolution. Hard to beat at this price.

If you can’t do 4K then you want a 2721DS.

    • I have this and it is a great monitor. Works with PS5 and Mac.

    • S2721QS is good. Hasn't been this cheap for a while. We use these at work.

S2721QC is good for $59 more if you want to hook up a laptop, such that the laptop charges at the same time, and that devices such as a webcam and mouse/keyboard can be plugged into the monitor. That way you only have to plug one cable into the laptop.

      • +1

Thanks for the advice guys. Appreciate it heaps. Just got myself the S2721QS !

  • +4

    Hey Rep,

Any updates on when can except the S3221QS to be further discounted ?? I missed the previous Dell deal for approx $360..

A few ppl including myself are keen for this to come back :)

    Thanks in advance

  • Big Plus for

Easy on the eyes: This TÜV-certified monitor has a flicker-free screen with ComfortView, a feature that reduces harmful blue light emissions. It’s designed to optimize eye comfort even over extended viewing – like your next movie marathon.

  • Can someone help me?

I bought the dell s2721dgf and want a monitor to match it, I was thinking of just buy the same screen but can't find it anywhere for around the $400 mark

    Any ideas?

    • +2

      Buy two of the S2721QS

  • +1

I bought one of the S2721QS monitors last year and bit the bullet and bought another one. I love these monitors and a great deal! :)
