First time I've seen this card available for under 1499. Not the cheapest 3080 by a long shot but from what I've read seems to be one of the best.
Mod Note: Item on pre-order. Coming Soon: 08/04/2022

Thanks for the link! Do you think the savings will be passed onto consumers though with supply still being such an issue?
That may take time. As HODLers hold their lines, we will see further drop on price.
Obligatory comment: HODL!!
@[Deactivated]: At the moment, definitely should wait for further price drop because of ETH 2.0 and upcoming RTX 40 series.
Don't disagree, but it seems this change only affects the US. We don't currently have the same import tariffs on Chinese goods.
Didn't stop our prices going up when the tariffs started in the US though
We did by proxy. Prices were raised here the same time as the US, otherwise US customers would have just purchased from us at a cheaper price.
I don't not disagree
Thanks for the link, however 25% another price cut could make this product for around $1,100.00
That article is referring to Asus USA price cut. Asus Australia already started price cut 2 weeks ago, both TUF and Strix 3080 dropped from >$2000 down to $1399 for TUF and $1499 for Strix.
wow, someone negged me for saying should go down to $800. where are the damn hodlers?? lol…
It should be $3.50
@beeze: tree fiddy! Damn Loch Ness Monster
Consumers should expect prices to decline up to 25 percent on different models throughout the springtime, the firm said.
Wow that would make this roughly back to launch price!
TAKE 25% OFF THIS PRICE IN 2 DAYS
that's referring to US tariff drop, will it affect Australia the same?
As pointed out above, ASUS cut Aussie market prices back when the afterpay event was on.
prices are going to be ramping up again soon
if you can wait until early to mid 2023 then we will get rock bottom prices for probably years
the problem is between now and then, if you are hoping prices are going to drop significantly in the short term you are going to be disappointed
Last time under $1500 at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/688919
Edited to under $1499 :P
With that price, why not get a 12gb? I know is ROG but is it really worth that much more?
You mean the 12gb version of this card? $410 more atm and from what I can see only performs slightly better?
of course not the ROG version. Just going by recent sales, 12gb is around 1250-1489.
Oh yea fair enough. Seems like this is still up there in terms of price/performance ratio
This is not a bargain.
Not the same brand or quality of card.
Does not worth $300 more, unjustifiable. same performance, same model.
@[Deactivated]: Higher boost clock speeds = Higher performance.
Better cooling and a much better looking card.
Better overclocking ability and higher max power draw 450w vs 320w
Doesn't matter as your comparing a different item to this and calling it the same, Invalid neg vote.
@Axelstrife: Not invalid, does not justify $300 price difference. Under $100 maybe, but not $300, too much.
@[Deactivated]: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines
You are not comparing the same product so yes it is invalid.
@Axelstrife: its valid, price is a rip off. your argument is invalid.
So the boost difference is 195mhz between the two cards. So yes ROG is better quality card. Faster clock speeds, better cooling design, higher tdp for overclocking.
But this is ozbargain, $300 should be the difference between 3080 and 3080ti. The gap for "quality" should not be that high. $1150 for a 3080 is a bargain. $1450 for a better 3080 isn't.
Majority of gamers aren't going to spend $300 more for this gpu when this covers the CPU Mobo and Ram. People buying this just so they can squeeze 5-10% more out of it even tho the 3080 is a monster that smashes 4k easy. Maybe if the 3080ti was $1500 this would be cheaper but who knows what gpu prices are going to do.
Considering you've got a GPU reference in your name, one would assume you'd know the difference between this card and the one you linked.
so what? just different brand, exact same model and memory, etc.
@[Deactivated]: Have a look at the clock speeds.
@mrnugget: so what? does not worth $300.
@[Deactivated]: don't know why you got neg so hard, totally agree with what you said,
ofc we comparing different cards, what is the point of comparing the exact same card????
yea higher clock, how much more FPS in the end? both being 3080.
memory cooling is bullshit, especially for a top model with that much extra $$
The look is subjective, I even think the TUF has better look.
maybe 100$ or 150$ more than other models. but definitely not 300$
source: owner of the strix OC3080.
@Hornpub: There are bunch of trolls keep following me, they going to neg this comment as well, hence the trolls.
@[Deactivated]: Un-negg'd your neg ;-)
Not a bargain, mate…
Not worth $300 more than the MSI ventus deal, and $200 more than the 12gb galax.
I would rather get 12gb version for that price.
I would rather they paid me to take a 12gig off their hands.
If the manufacturers had their way the recently launched 3090TI would be a bargain….wait I'm in dreamland!
Yeah if my PC blew up today, I think I'd be fine buying this. I might hunt around but this will be a premium model, other brands like Galax or basically most of the ones that don't also make motherboards, eh, not as convinced.
It’s a bargain for this particular model because at the moment it’s the lowest price. So it’s a bargain for those who want this but not for those who just want a 3080. Someone just wants a 3080 but someone may prefer a premium model. Bargain is subjective.
Although I don't mind this post… I wouldn't define a bargain as "the lowest available price".
Everything has a lowest available price, not everything is a bargain buy.
Oxford dictionary defines bargain as “a thing bought for less than the usual price” and Cambridge dictionary defines it as “ something on sale at a lower price than its true value”.
So again it’s still too subjective to determine the usual price or the true value for this kinda premium product. Someone might value a Gucci wallet higher than those who just thinks it’s just a normal wallet. At the end it’s all about utilitarianism.
Not a bargain at this price. Not even 12GB.
Bunch of trolls complained when 3080 reached $1156, not cheap enough they said. Now they upvoted this deal for $300 more. genuine certified trolls they are. If only there's troll button on this forum.
I totally agree with all your comments in this post! Its definitely not worth so much extra. If you are getting negged, thats becuase now you are more famous than JV ;)
btw, 4080 may only comes with 12gb vram, 4090 with 24gb vram, according to pcgamer leak.
My guess is that 4080 comes with US$1499 MSRP with only 10-15% faster than 3080 Ti or 3090.
@[Deactivated]: 60 to 70% faster than 3080 with USD 999 MSRP is my guess.
@[Deactivated]: so you're prepared to spend A$1500 on the 4080?
@[Deactivated]: Let the time come, it might be a 4070Ti or a 4080 or a 7800XT who knows? Too early to say :) At this point, its better to not buy a 3080 as for similar price or slightly more, you can get a 4080 with lot more RT, DLSS and Raster performance.
@[Deactivated]: Also, this time there will be more performance gap between 4080 and 4090. Becuase RDNA 3 is 2XChiplets for 7800XT and 3XChiplets for 7900XT. They may not scale linearly, but ya, thats there.
agree… i dont get it either..
As supply issues have largely eased and we near closer to the launch of next gen GPU's the more retailers will begin to panic if they don't clear out their old stock of 30 series cards and with people holding off for 40 series right around the corner significant price drops seem inevitable.
Price isn't valid anymore, showing up as $1499 now…
Not low enough:
