[PS4] Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of The Night and Rondo of Blood $4.99 @ PSN Store Australia

510

Looks like some new sales have dropped on PSN. Not many good deals from what I can see but this collection of two absolute classics stands out. Record low price.
The other collection is also on sale for $5.99: Castlevania Anniversary Collection

SOTN is prob still my favourite game of all time

Already have this on PS4, worth every cent and then some

Brilliant game design. The Nintendo DS titles that followed it were all very good, too. Before they killed it by going 3D.

    • I started playing it on my Switch and got stuck right at the start… I am not made for Castlevanias anymore.
I loved the DS games back in the day.

  • +1

+1 for this good deal. I need some new stuff for my ps5, I have pretty much given up on making ANY progress in Demons Souls (I'm… just terrible.)

apparently this is the psp version, which is a bit of a bummer.. but for $5 dollarydoos thats cheaper than a cauliflower ;)

    • How far did you get in Demon Souls? I had to do some googling to figure out wtf I was trying to achieve since the game gives very little steer, but was able to beat it relatively easy once I understood the core mechanics.

      • tower knight kicks my ass, lol.
but , due to human nature, I often dont get to the bastard to try again

… started as a thief. tower knight kicked my ass.
restarted as a paladin, and hilariously im now so slow that the dragon burns me on the bridge 99% of the time.
i sometimes DO get all the way to tower knight. and a quick jab later im mush.

I know I could google for better strategies.. but I never like doing that. I dunno. Trying to keep it all in game.

        • Fair enough, I had the same issue, I won't say much to avoid spoilers but feel free to PM if you want my 2c on how you can progress

          • @cook99: thanks I appreciate your offer ! you guys have renewed my broken demon souls battered heart lol. Get out Uncharted disk, time for me to die some more in Demons Souls =)

        • I hear where you're coming from about not wanting to look up guides, but if you're not familiar with how Souls games work I would recommend it.

When I first played demon's souls on PS3 it annoyed me until I worked out how the stats and systems worked and how to level up efficiently and upgrade my weapons effectively.

These games become a lot easier once you suss that out and they're still the most engrossing and enjoyable games out there for me, so many years after the original on PS3.

          • @Fappo: thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it. And yes, I love Demons Souls on ps5 so much that it made the console purchase worth it just by itself. Anything else is just gravy now =)

          • @Fappo: This is absolutely truth.
Brilliant game, but it gives no hints on how anything works. Which I understand to an extent, but I'm not a teenager with endless hours to figure things out now, so Google was my friend.

        • Mage build is pretty overpowered in Demon's Souls. Pile the points into the Int / Mag stats, and a couple of basic spells (Soul Arrow / Ray, Flame Toss) will get you through most enemies without too much trouble. The Firestorm spell is pretty savage once you get it, too - makes short work of a lot of bosses.

  • Worth buying this as well as anniversary collection?

Link says playable on ps5 but some features may be missing compared to ps4? What would be missing?

    • +3

Likely nothing will be missing. That is just a disclaimer in case something completely left-field happens.
I've played Symphony of The Night on PS5 and no issues at all.

      • Thanks for letting me know! Are the ones in this deal newer and the anniversary collection older games?

        • +3

Simple answer: The Anniversary Collection's games are older

Less simple answer: Rondo of Blood was actually a Western release of a Japanese title that is older than Bloodlines.
Rondo does show its age compared to SOTN. Rondo is also chronologically the sequel to SOTN.

So my recommendation would be to play Symphony of The Night first, and if you want to see where to story goes play Rondo after. Then if you REALLY like the series go back to the Anniversary Collection.

Edit: I may be getting my timeline wrong and SOTN is the sequel to Rondo… However, I still think playing SOTN first is the best entry to the series as it is the best game so it's the most likely to get you hooked.

          • @solidsnek: Wow, thanks for the big explanation. So buy this, and if like it, buy anniversary collection in the future.

And not buy both right now if never played any of them?

            • +1

@JL1: "So buy this, and if like it, buy anniversary collection in the future." - This would be my recommendation 100%.

          • @solidsnek: Doesn’t seem to be available on the Xbox so might buy it on the PS instead.

So these ones aren’t included in the Anniversary it seems, thought Anniversary Collection had the lot. Cheers
