  • Crucial P5 Plus 1TB is good enough if you just wanted extra storage for your PS5
At Reads up to 6600 MB/s this is faster the the required speeds set out by Sony for the PS5's of 5500 MB/s

You will need to grab a low profile heat sink though i like the - be quiet MC1 M.2 SSD Cooler for $19

1tb isn't good enough PS5 GAMES A BIG!! I have a 2tb 980 pro in my ps5 and its almost full with over 80 games installed

      • +2

Wow crazy you play all 80 games at the same time

        • This. I think it would be more economical to have a tiered approach for people that only play a few games at a time. Hot storage (internal/NVMe) and cold storage (USB HDD).

          • @DATApush3r: yeah I got sick of deleting and installing games, and I like tobe prepared for when internet goes down I can still fire up any game.

        • thats nothing my PC collection is 2000 games and all installed you don't want to know how much storage is allocated for that.

        • having games installed ready to go gives me the change to play a game when I want immidately not waiting for download or installing if I have to do that I won't playl the game. I have the storage having games ready to go at all times is so good.

          • @kungfuman: Calm down my friend! I just saying, spinning disk is significantly cheaper than NVMe at this point. For people that can't afford an NVMe, you can get a 2TB USB drive for $87. Sucks to have to shuffle things around but still costs less.

            • @DATApush3r: you can't install PS5 GAMES on a usb drive and run the games off the drive.. so doesn't work that way. if I wanted to run PS4 games then sure. Doesnt' work with ps5 games.

              • +1

@kungfuman: You can't run PS5 games from USB drive but you can store them on there.
Like I said, painful to shuffle things around but definitely gives you more cold storage on the cheap.

                https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps5-exten…

You can store PS5 games and PS4 games.

You can play PS4 games directly from USB extended storage, which lets you save space on your PlayStation®5 console storage for PS5 games.

To play PS5 games, you need to copy game data from your USB extended storage drive back to your PS5 console's internal SSD storage. It’s much quicker to copy a PS5 game from USB extended storage than to re-download it.
