Thanks OP. Got the "Scepter Fuel Jerry Can 5L"

  • Looks like WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant 300g is $5.40 in WA.

  • Price match at Bunnings ?

    • Yep should do by the wording on their website. 10% less so would be $4.86 in WA, does anyone know how easy this is, do they do it instantly at Bunnings when you show the Repco price at the counter?

      • They may need to call store manager

Supercheap Auto also price beats. Bought two for $4.90 each from Supercheap (They are priced as $5.40 at Repco and Supercheap beat by 50c)

  • says Self Venting (-a pump whose casing can be flushed of entrained gas by simply opening its suction and discharge control valves?)

Maybe it comes with a social media account?

      • Might come with Will Smith :)

The nozzle has a small secondary tube running the length of the nozzle, this way it doesn't get an air lock when pouring.

Got one cheers. Price of fuel, maybe I can half fill it.

Excellent time to stock up on jerry cans as the fuel price drops for the next 6 months. Stock up on fuel at home prepper style! :D

  • Are these okay to be kept at the back of the trunk at all?

    • You mean inside the car? Sure - when empty.

How do you transport if from petrol station?

  • Is this for petrol, diesel or either?

    • +1

The plastic it's made of is safe for most hydrocarbon liquids, just be mindful what colour you use for it.

      Red - petrol
      Yellow - Diesel
      Green - 2-stroke

Edit: I was certain this was covered in a standard somewhere and had to look for it. AS2906 is your friend, which you'll need to buy unless you know someone who already has a copy to borrow.

      • … red in this size is commonly 2 stroke for mowers etc. And green metal jerry cans are often used for petrol in 4x4 communities. Yellow or Khaki is for diesel… And blue for kero. But in 4x4 circles blue is for water if you dont want plastic.

They also have codes for oils, and chainsaw bar oil and two different ones for 50:1 and 25:1 2 stroke. Its more for Rural Fire Services that carry most of the above but I dont think even they actually use the code on the can, they use labels.

When I was working for a government org the OHS audit determined every single jerry can needed to have a label tag permanently attached. Colour coding or permanent marker/paint pen written label wasn't good enough.

I have the 20 and 10 litre red Scepter contains for petrol, yellow 20L for diesel and the red 5L for two stroke.

However i have 2 stroke tags for them, and what i do is remove the tag when i go fill the containers and only put it back on when i add the 2 stroke oil. This way i know what i have and haven't mixed.

No idea why you copped a down-vote. Here, have a nice, shiny, yellow-coloured diesel up-vote.

      • Probably copped a neg because he doesn't put the 2-stroke oil in BEFORE adding the fuel.

        • Probably lol. But I put it in when i need to use the 2 stroke, that way i have the option of using it as plain petrol if i need it, or i can mix it at 25:1 or 50:1 depending on what tool/buggy/quad/boat/ride-on/chainsaw etc needs dinosaur juice at the time.

Though i'm slowly transitioning everything i can to electric.

      • No idea either, but thanks mate.

  • Just a reminder that you can only make 15 Molotov cocktails from this jerry can where a 20 litre jerry can will make 60

I have a pro quip jerry can )purchased from Supercheap auto) which has an in built funnel… but leaks fumes when transporting home no matter how tightly I screw the top.

Does anyone know if this sceptre jerry can leaks fuel vapours?

    • +1

They will all have some odour, but the Scepter is the best one. I've left 20L containers out in the sun and they expand as hard as a rock and dont leak. Having the funnel inside helps too.

Always carry a 20L in the bow of the boat offshore getting bashed around and never had a leak.

I was at my local Bunnings to purchase various items after work and tried to purchase the WD-40 Silicone Lubricant.
Bunnings would NOT price match the Repco price.

The Bunnings staff member said that the word 'Silicone' & 'icons' shown in the Repco web site photo were orange, whereas on the Bunnings WD-40 they were slightly yellow therefore the products are not the same and would not price match.

I pointed out and showed the staff member that the barcode on the Repco web site was 100% identical to the WD-40 i was holding in my hands and therefore it must be the same product.
Obviously know nothing about barcodes the Bunnings staff member disagreed.
He said the Repco product could be a grey import.
I said the entire barcode is exactly the same including the 93 at the beginning of the barcode which indicates barcode was issued by GS1 Australia.
Anyway, it was no, No, NO by the Bunnings team member so i ordered from Repco online.

I find Officeworks has the same mentality.. its like a pride thing… they take pleasure in rejecting their offer to price match. Theres a smugness about it.

    • +2

I'd send an email to to their head office - you will probably be given a bunnings credit voucher

    • +3

Did you ask to speak to someone with a second brain cell more senior?

      • I was at the POS in the power tools section which is where Bunnings have the WD-40.
The girl there said she did not know how to do a price match and called over another staff member from same dept who was much older.
I didn't ask for anyone else as i knew i could order on-line from Repco.
On my way out a staff member at the entrance gate asked if everything was ok and i mentioned they refused to price match for an identical item but he too immediately started making up reasons why, i didn't engage, i just left..

On a positive note, by 10am this morning i received notification from Repco that my order was ready for pickup.
I left work slightly early so i would be at Repco before they closed and got my 2 cans.
As i expected the cans are identical in colour to what Bunnings had.

I thought about going past Bunnings on my way home as the same person may have been working, but I thought my time is more important.
I am ok i didn't get the 10% off as i felt better spending my money & getting a great deal at Repco having seen it here on OzBargain : )

  • How long can you store Petrol in a Jerry can before the Petrol goes bad, or not as effective.
