The plates on this folding bike lock are pretty thin so it won't deter serious thieves, but it has 8 plates rather than the usual 6 for more flexibility.

Lol, at least it's proven that it is not easily stolen (including by the owner)
and he even used his bear hands
Could at least have put some riding gloves on!
Do bears wear riding gloves?
@PinzVidz: The ones that ride for Russian circuses should.
P.S. typo went whoosh for me.
Avoid these locks at all costs. Folding locks can be removed with a simple bolt splitter.
No idea why anyone would pay a few hundred/thousand dollars for a bike, then spend $40 on a bike lock.
Get yourself a Kryptonite disc detainer lock (the Forghedaboudit is generally seen as the best) and save yourself hassles; good core with security features, double locking lugs, and hardened steel shackle.
A few reasons.
1. Any lock is still a deterrent to opportunistic thieves.
2. I basically only leave my bike in public areas during the day. Nobody's gonna be using a bolt cutter out in the open to steal my bike.
3. If it's not in a public area it's in bike parking with other much nicer bikes. If someone decides to come in there with bolt cutters, my bike is not going to be the one they decide to steal…
4. I'm not spending $150 on a lock. My bike may be worth a few hundred dollars, but the extra cost is not worth it to me…
I find point 2 funny because the reviewer above is coming back with an angle grinder
Also, if the thief wore a hi vis yellow jacket you will be surprised what people think is normal/fine
Haha, yeah. Interesting to explain…
But again, in my circumstance: If someone is going to that kind of effort, they're not doing it for my bike… If I had an electric bike, sure. Or a $5000 carbon fibre road bike, maybe, but kind of defeats the purpose of a carbon fibre bike to carry around a super heavy thick lock as well (I probably just wouldn't let it out of my sight).
Also, not all bikes are a few hundred/thousand dollars…
e.g. I bought a 2nd hand bike for less than $100, however, I would still want to reduce the chance of it being stolen (likely by opportunistic thieves) so a lock like this is more than sufficient for the purpose.
I suppose we view bikes differently. I don't own a car, and own several ebikes. If someone steals one I'd be screwed, so I'd rather the peace of mind in having a decent lock.
$150 for a good lock is actually pretty cheap, no matter if it's for a bike or a front door or a trailer hitch. Being into locksport, from my experience, even as a fairly novice picker, anything less than $100 isn't a lock, it's a paperweight. I can't count how many times I've picked locks for friends and they've immediately gone out and bought a $100-$200 lock.

Yes, ebikes are a different story to your average bike as I noted. Particularly in the eyes of potential thieves.
had some amateurs try to drill out the locks on my krypto evo 4 and hiplok dx locks and failed. (yeah, i double lock my e-bike at home) both locks cost me less than $200 all up. cheap insurance compared to the cost of the bike.
Spend $10k on a bike to save 2kg. Buy a 2kg lock to secure it.
Hehe, yeh, I always laugh when I see that
It's $5.99 at Dick Smiths and Catch.

I don't need a bike lock but I did use the FREESHIP code for something else. Thanks OP!
