Just your average monthly competition-matching price.

  • Anyone else having crap luck with their Dual Sense controllers? About to put in for a replacement for the fourth time in two years.

    So far have had:
    - Sticky buttons (within only a few weeks)
    - Broken triggers (something went wrong with the adaptive mechanism)
    - Stick drift (twice, the second controller is less than two months old)

Surely for what they charge they can make a more reliable controller.

    • My RB is a bit sticky, I’ve only had it about 9 months. I don’t use adaptive triggers so I wouldn’t know about that.

Stick drift is very common issue. It's the exact same joystick module as DualShock 4 and other controllers from same manufacturer and not much they can do about that. There doesn't seem to be any other reliable manufacturer out there than can supply them.

R2 spring snapping less common but still also happens. They've uprated the springs in the new ones to alleviate the issue.

    • I replaced one already, and Im about to send back my 2nd one to Amazon for replacement.

Its a known issue by Sony, that right stick drift is extreme. My amazon controller had drift stick from the first day, and after 6 months it starts moving in 1 direction at full speed.

I think theyve tried to fix the issue with the new colored controllers.

OG one yeah but refurbs with a little "A" after the model number (V2) so far so good.

I've got a cosmic red that's newer but still V1 and I'm expecting it to fail within 12months, which is annoying as they don't guarantee same colour back.

Blue, Pink, Purple are all V2.

      • I picked up my PS5 the other day, worried the white controller it came with would be a dud/OG one… lucky I checked and it is an "A" model!

        Thanks for the heads up.

    • Haven't had either of the first two issues you mention, but I received a controller that actually developed stick drift within a week of purchase. I hadn't even used it all that much during that time.

This was fairly close to the PS5 launch (talking like December 2020), so it's possible it was just the early days of the Dualsense and now they've tweaked them to be better.

    • Seems pretty unlucky. I've had zero issues and put a decent amount of time in to it - couple of hundred hours maybe?

    • Ive had my 2 since launch and had no problems with either..

    • Pretty impressive considering the PS5 has only been out for 1 year 4 months.

    • Get some contact cleaner from Bunnings (or your preferred hardware/automotive store). Spray into the buttons and mash away. Sorts out the sticky button issue straight away.

To clarify, Sony has improved the internals in all models, however the only way to be sure you have one of the new versions is to get a coloured one. If you get a white one it could be old or new stock. The model numbers are the same because of course they are.

    • Does black count as a coloured one?

  • Trade-ins are more cost effective and getting rid of unused dualsense 4 or maybe even 5.

  • Have gone back to PS4 controller after weird issues on the PS5.
I use mine on PC and i get occasional stuttering on it, Playing games which require instant feedback like racing is so difficult as you can be turning and then all of a sudden the car will just go straight for a milli second like youve lifted your finger off.

With all this bad feedback dont think i will buy another yet

    • Not sure if you're using it wired on the PC but I've noticed strange stuff happening when mine is plugged in. Wireless, it works great

      • Im using cabled, may try wireless

  • I hope they release a red controller at some point.

    • +1

They did, sadly it's actually pink 😭

      • +2

I don't think it looks as pink in person as it does in photos

    • Red is out

  • Why can’t they just make the whole thing coloured instead of having a small black bit next to the sticks…

Give us a full red one

  • been this price for a while now, still feels expensive compared to previous deals

  • Nice colour

    • thanks
