    • Google home max is powered so you wouldn't need an amplifier.

      • yes, and you could not connect it to your google home, this is for passive speakers

  • I need an external Amp for my in ceiling atmos speakers for my home theater . Would this suit? I'm currently using 2 channels of my old 5.1 Yamaha amp

    • For two ceiling speakers? Are you using the other channels on the yamaha?

      • Nope. I'm using 9 channels of my main Amp and only 2 on the second Amp. The main Amp is 150w per channel, this second Amp is only 80w so I have no use for the other channels

        • then you can use this amp to power your Yamaha, the output power is 100watts per channel

    • It will suit 200% if you have something that can decode the atmos signal for those height channels into analog Line level outputs. But then if you are already using an old 5.1 for that purpose then the only thing this achieves is a slight reduction is desk space and a slight reduction in power consumption.

        Yea. I have a Yamaha rx-a3040
        It's a 11.2 decoder but only has 9 Amp channels so need an external Amp for the final 2 to make 9.2.2

  • I wonder if I can use this to drive two DAYTON AUDIO BST-1 PRO Tactile BASS Shaker, one on each channel.

    • It's just a TDA7498 class-D with some opamps most probably ne5532s for tone control retrofitted with a bluetooth audio module. It will drive those easily but won't be shaking a lot of bass unless you fine tune the tone at source and in the amp and if you are lucky will get an acceptable sound signature.

      Otherwise get something with IRS2092 with >50v Dual power supply if you don't want to be restricted on power across the full frequency range.

        • Can you do some DIY? There are some great ready to use IRS2092 modules available in Aliexpress which integrates 2 channel AMP and matched SMPS. You can use it as it is or pair it with a good tone control board to get clean powerful amplification of your analog signal using the best Class-D amplifier possible.

          I've been using the IRS2092 based ones since last 15years and didn't upgrade till now as my speaker setup is a custom 5.0 and fully satisified with the drive , dynamic range and fidelity for Music, Movies and what not. Nothing major came out after these IRS2092 which is a game changer as far as Class-D analog amplification is concerned. The TPA3255 has an advantage that they need just as single rail powersupply where as IRS2092 based ones need dual rail high voltage power supplies. But then both the above products that I listed integrates the SMPS. So upto you to choose.

    • Yes you can. I just brought one as my “nobosound” one died. I have them on my sim rig 4 speakers 2 amps.

      It seems like a good deal cause it comes with the PSU …. But hopefully the 19v can run the 100w x 2 … cause the “nobosound” one can only do so with a 24v PSU

      • Even theoretically speaking you need 5.5 amp per channel that is 11amps at 19v to achieve 100w+ 100w RMS. The 3.2Amp rated which can't sustain 2 amp continous max is never going to deliver 100w + 100w even if you inject some miracles into the mix.

        Even at 24V to get 100W + 100W you are going to need at around 8amp power supply. So don't go by these No's as such. These no's are derived from the ST datasheet which mentions the maximum drive capability under ideal power and thermal considerations.

        • I kinda got the jist of what you were saying … but in laymans terms … I got lost after "even theoretically speaking" :)

          All I know is I have a similar amp, 2 x 100w (TPA3116), and that it uses a 24v PSU …. even at 40% it completely shakes the rig which shakes the whole house. My other amp is 400w but uses a 19v … and even at 100% I "just" feel the vibrations when stationary and can't really feel it when I am racing.

          Hopefully this amp I ordered will rectify the above .. otherwise i've just thrown $60 down the drain :P

          • @CY: That's true. Audio is a very weird subject. Very subjective and especially hard to convince a large group of people with different audio sensitivities at the sensor(ear drum), computing(brain) and software(psychological training). That's why the audio industry tried to use PMPO rating for some time where they started putting any no they like like 2000w PMPO for a device which deliver less than 10w RMS.

            But it's not the Max Wattage that can be driven by an amplifier which demands the wattage, But the linear nature of power delivery at lower levels across the frequency range that is possible with these high wattage Amplifiers that makes it sound a lot more pleasing. From a pure Noise Volume level we don't need anything above 20w in most indoor scenarios.

            If we are thinking that we have 200W amplifier and is going to max each and every watt possible then we won't be able to do it for a long time without turning ourselves deaf as well as our neighbours unless we are doing some thing in the outdoor in the middle of paddy field with no one nearby or something very isolated and rural or for public performance of somekind.

        • A Subwoofer is also a passive speaker with properties fine tuned to deliver low frequency waves. So it can definitely be used with a passive subwoofer but the power may or may not be ideal for such a load.

          Speaker types:
          Tweeter: Tuned for High frequency(Can be coil-diaphram, piezo,ribbon)
          Midrange: Tuned for Midrange/Vocals(Coil-diaphram mostly below 5-6inches)
          Woofer: Tuned for Low frequency(Coil-diaphram mostly 6 inches and above)
          Subwoofer: Tuned specifically for very low frequencies(Coil-diaphram above 6 inches and long throw, deep incursion type)

          Apart from the above types there are some general purpose speakers(just referred as speakers/speaker drivers) also available which are kind of all in one or a stretched midrange which can do some high and low as well. These are the ones used in Radios, simple computer speakers, and many other simple devices.

          On the otherhand if you have a powered active subwoofer, then you don't need this as that subwoofer has a built-in Amplifier and all you need is Line-Level input.
