Why use this when there's a $30 off code for new users?

    • +1

It is targeted only some people can use it

      • Yeah anyone with an existing account that hasn't made an order yet. Just make an account, leave it for a week or less and get the $30 instead?

        • I didn't get it! I have a new acciunt that i didn't use before. What exactly should i do? Thnx

          • @Ahmednono: Use the code in a account you never ordered in before

Possible to get the discount with pick up without having to hope some random delivery person hasn’t touched your food? Called me old fashioned, takeaway delivery is lazy and gross.

    • +1

Yes you can use pick up option

    • +2

Didn't neg you but people could get takeaway delivery from before home internet by phoning up. It's not exactly a new thing.

      • +1

difference would be the delivery driver is employed by the company making the food. All in one liable, no blame game between apps and 2 different services

        • Your order is still being delivered by a person just trying to make a buck so either way you're going to have to contact someone for reimbursement if something goes wrong.

I get no blame game is good but the problem can just shift inward on the company where people deflect responsibility.

      • people could get takeaway delivery from before home internet by phoning up

Not in Australia. Until very recently, the only fastfood that was delivered was pizza.

        • Well, Suppertime started in Sydney in 1985 if you're talking about food delivery services. Apart from that, Chinese takeaways etc have had their own food delivery - menu came in letterbox with prices and delivery charges to respective suburbs.

Oh wait you said fast food. Yeah pick up or delivery, fast food is lazy and gross. You're kidding yourself if a few minutes to pick it up means you're not lazy.

  • anyone have a workaround for 'new' UE accounts

whenever i make a new account with a new sim, flashed phone, revolut debit card, they somehow detect that i have an account

    • See the tips about new email and same phone number here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/691088

It worked for me last night using EAU6J75

      • Which way did you do?

All the tips in the link ended up not working for those users

    • Revolut used to consistently work but these days I have less luck. I've been using Wise instead but there is a $10 fee to order the physical card. Unlimited virtual debit cards after that.

Are you ordering in the browser?

      • using the app on a flashed phone..yep seems to block any revolut card i make

      • I used chrome on my laptop, pretty sure the credit card was identical to the one on my usual account.

    • Have you tried just using Uber Cash? Works for me and no paper trail to link back to.

      • How does Uber cash work? Could you elaborate a bit?

        Thanks

        • Uber Cash is just Uber gift cards. Buy a $5-$10 Uber Gift Card (from somewhere like preezee) and use that to cover the service fee + delivery of your first order. Rinse and repeat, no need for new payment info :)

You'll need an actual payment method if you're wanting Uber Pass though (even the free trial) but I've got prepaid VISA/MasterCards for them, all it needs to do is be unexpired

          • @decc0: Thanks for the reply.
Does a Uber cash get attached to a Uber account once it's used, but still some balance left, like eBay or Amazon? I guess my question is can multiple Uber accounts use the same Uber gift card?

            • @ja912son: All good. Nah the full credit gets applied but you pay very small amounts (as low as $5) to get around this

Eg you can use 2 x $5 Uber gift cards on 2 accounts but a $10 card can only cover 1

              • @decc0: Thanks. It does provide a level of convenience, than mucking around with credit cards or the liking.
Only issue is they come either at $5 or $10, or $15. You might run into a situation that you get some small balance left that fixated to one account after using the first order discount.

                • @ja912son: Yeah definitely is much more convenient.

One such way is: Make $30 order, $3 service fee and $1.99 delivery fee = $4.99. 1¢ left on gift card.
I have <$1 spare which to me is fine considering I just got an almost free meal.

    • Used new account, burner number + zip single use card. At check-out, got the 'promotion codes have been deemed invalid for this account and all trips will be ordered at the full price'. UE might be tracking/matching IP address?

      • i used a hotspot and still didnt work

      • They check IMEIs afaik so you'll need a new device if going mobile. Might have a similar thing for laptops/desktops? Matching IP address would be kind of pointless considering how easy it is to change.

      • They might be detecting that you're using a Zip card. I can't use virtual Revolut cards as of today but my CBA card worked which I've never used before.

  • Am I correct in assuming this wouldn't stack with the referral discount as well?

  • Thanks
