1040
PERUPARTYBACKON

Hey Oz Bargain Community,

I'm so excited to announce that our Peru Single Origin is back in stock. Last time we had this available was in early 2021, both deals sold out at lightning speed, the first sold out in a mere 2 hours, we were able to secure some more than the first deal to be extra prepared for a 2nd deal and that sold out in only 25 hours. We've gotten even a bit more stock for this season, but Lime Blue has also grown over the last year, so who knows how long it will last…Anyways this delayed dispatch (quick refresh, on the new system below) deal is to celebrate the launch of this absolutely wonderful featured Organic Single Origin from Peru. Our next ASAP rolling dispatch deal will be for a blend not this Single Origin, so if you want to lock in this price and product, so you don't miss out then this deal should hopefully be your winning ticket :)

Here's the deal highlights:

We're offering you a 40% discount (only $26.39 per kg, usually $43.98 per kg, see link below) off our current newly launched spectacular featured rotating Organic Single Origin Coffee from Peru for any delayed dispatch request orders placed until 29/3/202. Please note this discount is only available for delayed dispatch orders. Delayed dispatch spots are available as early as tomorrow 25/3/22 and as late as the last Friday in June 24/6/22. Once a delayed dispatch date is at full dispatch capacity it will become unavailable, so lock your spot in quick sticks if you're keen on a specific dispatch date. If you do not reserve a delayed dispatch spot, then your fresh coffee we will allocate your order to a future delayed dispatch date, which means it could go out on 8/4/22 or 6/5/22 or … delayed dispatch priority will be given to those who reserve their spot, so it's important to reserve your delayed dispatch spot :)

Some helpful info:

  • You're welcome to place multiple delayed dispatch orders to make the most of this deal
  • One dispatch per order
  • Complimentary gift notes can be written in the "special instructions for seller" box on the cart page."
  • As previously mentioned, all orders using this discount will be set for delayed dispatch. As per the screenshots https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/361387/94923/delayed_d… with our new delayed system at the cart page you simply select an available dispatch date in green writing (dates currently unavailable for delayed dispatch are in red writing) on the calendar and write "delayed dispatch" in the "special instructions for seller" box (otherwise you'll send me on a trip to Typing Town haha).
  • If you select paypal express checkout on the product page you'll likely skip the order notes section, which is on the cart page (as mentioned above). If this happens please email send up a reply email to your order confirmation within 24 hours of completing your order to reserve your ideal available delayed dispatch date
  • The discount price will show up after the "cart" stage of the ordering process AKA once you start entering in your delivery details
  • The largest bag size we use is 1kg and it has a zip (it's resealable), for example if you order 4kg with 1kg packaging you will receive 4 x 1kg bags, you will not receive a single huge 4kg bag. 500g bag packing is available for an extra $3.60 per kg including the discount (normally $6 extra per kg) to cover the extra bag/s, label/s and time it takes to pack
  • Flat Rate Shipping $6.99 No Delivery Company Preference $7.99 Shipit-Courier's Please $8.99 Australia Post $12.99 Express Post

Delayed dispatch for 25/3/22 and 29/3/22 is now at full dispatch capacity, next available delayed dispatch is 1/4/22 and it's filling up fast, spots are getting filled up quicker than a game of musical chairs :) For 95% of orders people have picked their own dispatch date either via the calendar on the cart page or a follow up email, which is absolutely wonderful and brings a smile. With scale the 5% who haven't selected a delayed dispatch date adds up and we don't want people unhappy with the date their fresh coffee is dispatch. As mentioned priority goes to those who select their ideal dispatch date, when a given date is at dispatch capacity it will turn red (from green) and become unavailable to select. If no delayed dispatch date is selected and no follow up email is sent to [email protected] within 24 hours of the order, then we'll select the delayed dispatch date for you…please remember to select your own delayed dispatch date as we don't want 95% of people having an ideal delayed dispatch date experience, we want 100% of people to have an ideal delayed dispatch experience :)

  • Any chance you guys can do a dark roast instead of 'omni'?

    • +6

      Morning Chronus,

Thanks heaps for taking the time to reach out, love to say yes to customers (potential), but at present we don't "dark roast" our coffees. Who knows you may love this one as an omni… If you only love bitter really smokey flavour in your coffee and your go to beans look quite oily (different strokes and all), then we may not be a perfect fit for you. Hopefully you give us a shot, but if not then I hope you have great coffee mornings no matter what beans you're enjoying :)

      Best Coffee Wishes,

      Tom.

    • look for Rubra coffee, they roast dark roast, OzB known for $10/kg deal

    • +8

I think Starbucks sells burnt coffee

    • +1

Thunderchild at fellow OzB fav AirJo is very dark. It doesnt have a burnt taste but is very strong/bitter; so much so that I cant serve it to most of my guests (but I think its great)

One I have just tried Sicilia double roast. Also a dark coffee, touch of burnt taste but pretty good. and around $23/kg

  • Hey, with the delayed shipping, when is it roasted? Close to the shipping date?

  • +2

    Morning Drew,

    Great question!

We aim to always roast within 48 business hours of dispatch, nice and fresh :)

    • +3

p.s. so yes you're correct, "close to the shipping date"

      • Do unroasted beans go bad? Is there an ideal time between harvest/processing to roasting?

        • +1

          Nice follow up question!

The quality of green does change over time and it depends on a number of factors, such as the quality of processing, packaging and storage. They last much longer than roasted coffee. Aside from our unique delayed dispatch system meaning our terrific customers get their coffee freshly roasted when they want it, it also helps us forecast to ensure our green/raw coffee is also on point in terms of the right balance of freshness :)

        • +1

Depends on storage, usually within 2 years
A good approximation is the 15/15/15 rule

          15 minutes for ground coffee
          15 days for roasted coffee
          15 months for unroasted beans

    • +2

Do you mean 48 hours, 2 business days or 48 "business hours" which could be up to 8 calendar days (cause of weekends)?

      • +3

        Appreciate the double check clarification!

Not sure about the "8 calendar days" think I may need another coffee to be on your level :)

Within 48 business hours, so anywhere from same day to 2 business days after roasting your fresh coffee will get dispatched. To use weekends as an example, coffee we roast on a Friday may on occasion go out on a Monday at the latest (sometimes tracking may look to paint a different picture but that's just a tech update lab between delivery company pick up and going through the first stage of the sorting process). An example without accounting for weekends would be coffee we roast on a Monday going out Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

        • +1

You might need something very different than a coffee to level the up to 8 calendar days thing.

  • Hi OP, I usually look for beans that are chocolate or malt or nutty for milk coffees (looking for smooth mellow flavours).. this one says plum and Mandarin.. assuming this is not for me? Thanks in advance

    • +4

Love that question and it's directly led to a messaging improvement (hopefully) from us, so thank you!

I'd say this one ticks your "chocolate" category, wouldn't put it in the category of "malty" or "nutty." I would also say it's excellent with milk, as well as black. The "Plum" is just the first aroma that hit us beyond "it smells like coffee," sort of first thought jot down type thing. It's not the only aroma, we just try to keep the description as balanced as possible between informative/helpful and succinct. The "Mandarin" is listed in our "Acidity" category, so it won't taste/smell like a Mandarin, we just think it has a similar acidity level to a Mandarin.

Anyway before I write a novel, here's the new descriptor I've just added (trial run, so we'll see how the feedback is) thanks to you, with the aim of us doing a better job describing our coffees, it's listed on the Peru product page now with a score :)
      * Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale

      • Thanks for that. Wasn't going to order because it's not so high on the malty chocolate scale but appreciate the effort.. so pulled the trigger. Who knows, might become the household favourite :)

        • Music to my ears, thank you so much for the order and opportunity to be in the running for your "household favourite," we won't take it for granted!

Fingers cross you love this terrific SO :)

    • +1

The last batch of Peru SOO was about as close to smooth (low acidity not sharp bitter) as coffee gets, very nice.
I thought it was excellent and I don't like acidic coffees.

Chocolate is bitter, malt is sweet so bitter sweet is what you look for? It's not that, it's a very elegant coffee, but not strong.

      • WOW WOW WOW hard to top that, thank you so much for that wonderful raving review, brought a big smile to this side of the screen, I'm so wrapped our Peru SO is a winner for you :) :) :)

  • multiple delayed dispatch orders

Does this mean only paying one delivery fee?

    • +1

Nice double check, thanks for asking!

It means the discount code is not limited to one use per customer. You can send as much weight as you'd like per dispatch for the one low flat rate shipping fee, but it's one dispatch per order/shipping cost. If you'd like items shipped at different times or sent to more than one address (e.g. some for you and some as a gift) at the same time, then this means you'll need to place multiple separate orders for shipping, dispatch tracking and the calendar to all work as they should :)

  • How does this compare (taste) to Moments to Memories blend that I usually buy from LB? Thanks

    • +1

      Nice question!

Thank you so much for ordering Moments from us recently, it's truly appreciated!

Peru Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale = 6-7
Moments to Memories Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale = 7.5-8.5

AKA this SO is a bit fruitier than Moments, if you've enjoyed Moments then I think you should enjoy this delicious SO too :)

  • How would this compare in taste to your Brazil Sao Paulo single origin?

    • +3

      Nice question!

Your order is really appreciated, thank you so much for trying out another one of our SO's, I'm so glad you gave it a shot!

Peru Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale = 6-7
Brazil Sao Paulo Fruit 1 to Chocolate 10 Flavour Scale = 9-10

AKA this SO is fruitier than our Brazil Sao Paulo, but the fruitiness is still nice and subtly balanced with the chocolate flavour, if you enjoy SO's then I'd say (in my unbiased opinion haha) this SO is without doubt worth a shot :)

      • Just ordered, thanks!

Currently working through the Brazil Sao Paulo beans and really enjoying it, so looking forward to this one.

        • Amazing, thank you so much for placing another order with us, it really does mean so much!

Woohoo I'm wrapped to know you're "really enjoying" our Brazil Sao Paulo SO, fingers crossed this one's even more of a winner for you :)

      • Very helpful!

        • :)

  • +1

I'm trying to compute if a) I've had this b) what date I would need new coffee lol. #mathisdifficult

    • Me too. I have 3kg from the last deal in the freezer. I think I do about 1 kg every month which means I should order for end of June. But it depends on how good my maths is

      • 1kg a month. How many cups you have a day?

        I do about 1 - 2 shots a day and 1kg lasts about 2 months.

        • if you assume 10g per single shot, then 1kg is obviously 100 shots. Which means 1kg per month is 3-4 shots per day (which might be 2x double shot cups)

          • +1

@dtc: thats abt right, 2 double shots a day will finish 1kg in a month

        • I finally worked it out. I have a 6 cup moka pot which gets used every day. That's 22g per day. Thats 6 weeks for 1 kg. Not 4 weeks.

          • +1

            @Faithgrrl: Hey @Faithgrrl,

Just spotted your comment and thought I should add my 2 cents…

Generally speaking with each different brewing method there's heaps of different ratios and recipes. However, from my experience I'd say the Moka Pot/Stovetop is the exception to the rule due to the nature of its structure and design. It's specifically designed to use 7 grams per cup, so a 6 cup Moka pot should use 42 grams per brew which means you'll get 23 brews per kg. If you're happy with your current dosing system then by all means stick with it, this isn't a consumption up sell (the Moka Pot I use is a little 1 cup), I just want you to get the maximum enjoying from your Moka Pot brews. If you'd like to stick with roughly the same coffee consumption per brew, then I'd recommend you use a 3 cup Moka Pot.

Anyway food (coffee) for thought, feel free take or leave with a grain of salt :)

            • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks! Now I am really confused. Maybe I have no idea what size my moka pot is. I tried to check and I swear it's a 6 cup cause it's a (standard) bialetti and the next one is a 12 cup and that's huge so it can't be a 12. Then I read this
              https://bluebottlecoffee.com/brew-guides/bialetti-moka-pot and it said 22g??

I just fill the basket and chuck it on the stove, and what comes out is enough for 2 of us in the morning in 2 huge mugs of coffee with milk.

I know I sound like an idiot but how do I work out what size moka pot I have?

              • @Faithgrrl: Oh no, looks like my comments are causing you more trouble than help haha

You don't sound like an idiot at all, as it's smart to ask questions or seek clarification :)

You will always find different methods if you look online, sometimes for good reason and other times so people read the 10th article…if all 9 recommendations are identical then the 10th person to post won't get a look in from anyone. We don't generally comment on other companies so I won't get into too much about that article, except to say I believe that ratio will result in a filter style Moka Pot coffee (which is not right or wrong, it's just different) rather than an Espresso style Moka Pot coffee. If you put in 22 grams does it completely fill the basket with no space at the top or is there space above the coffee in the basket?

If you have a ruler or measuring tape I should be able to Sherlock Homes the mystery of your Moka Pot size. What's the total height and width of the base?

                p.s. there's a 9 cup Moka Pot between the 6 and 12 :)

                • @LimeBlueCoffee: I….haven't weight my coffee :( I just throw it in….I know. James Hoffman would be annoyed (but I did watch his videos on the moka pot so…) So I just pop the coffee in to fill the basket to the brim and off I go. I don't read articles, I just watch James Hoffman :)

Thanks for the offer of help. Total height (including the black tip) is about 21cm and width is 10cm.

This will greatly assist with me working out if I need to put in for delay dispatch of another 4 kg by end of June or wait for another deal, assuming I use the moka pot every day, at least once a day.

                  • @Faithgrrl: Haha all good, I assumed from your 22g comment that you weighed it…weight, don't weigh, either way main thing is that you enjoy it and find the system that works for you :)

Nice, I think to the brim for Moka Pot gets the best results…love your "and off I go" comment/attitude!

I'm happy to confirm that you have a 6 cup Moka Pot…I'll leave the discount open for a little bit longer so you can get your order/s sorted :)

                    • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thank you and you have inspired me. I will weigh the damn thing tomorrow morning when I make my coffee and do some maths!!

                      • +1

@Faithgrrl: haha love it, your response brought a smile and a chuckle, hope you can taste the difference!

p.s. when you knock out the coffee from the basket after your brew if you get a perfect hockey puck shape then you nailed the brew :)

                        • @LimeBlueCoffee: Hey Tom I am sorry I left it so late. Its been a bad few days in the household with a sick baby. Any chance of still getting the discount with delay shipping to 24 June? I just tried and no luck. Otherwise its fine, I'll just wait till the next deal and hope the coffee Gods smile on me. PS. I did weigh it and its 30g. WTH

                          • @Faithgrrl: Apologies, just spotted this one!

Hope the bub is tip top once again :)

If a similar situation happens again with messages and then missing the code feel free to shoot off an email to [email protected]

Hmmm I've heard of weights varying from low 20s to low 40s, grind size and compression level does have am impact, main thing is that you enjoy your coffee, so if 30g tastes great to you then that's the winner :)

  • Hey Op,

Which ground option do I pick for a wogstyle stovetop percolator?

    • For the famous and much loved all over the world Stovetop Percolator, Ground Espresso should be the winner for you, hope you love it :)

      • Damn. I picked the other one

        • No stress, just shoot a reply email to your order confirmation tonight and we'll adjust your order :)

  • Great beans….using your beans with my Bambino Plus and tastes better than the cafe!

    • +1

You and me both with the same setup and thoughts - thinking of setting up next to my local cafe from the boot of my car

      • Nice purchases, Lime Blue and Bambino points to you too, can't argue with such wise decisions, of course an unbiased comment by me :)

Thank you so much for your terrific order/s and taking the time to share your thought, it's truly appreciated!

    • WOW thank you so much for that bold amazing vote of confidence and your orders with us, brings a smile and means so much!

Nice purchase too, bang for buck the Bambino is a great unit, especially if you pair it with a quality grinder :)

    • Which grinder are you using?

I'm waiting on my jx pro hand grinder

Bambino plus is a very nice starter machine

  • Great ordered again thanks OP!

    • Fantastic to hear, your repeat orders are truly appreciated, thank you so much!!!

  • I want to order this beans but I hate the process to having to program my coffee machine grinder again to get the perfect extraction.

    • +1

Go separate grinder and a decent manual machine and you will never go to a local Cafe again.

    • Takes me 3-4 shots to get the grind size right, so that's ~16% of the bag used for adjustments. Not too bad really and you can still use those shots for iced coffee or cooking.

      • Which grinder?

        • +1

          Eureka Mignon and EM6910

    • @FiloGuy shucks that's quite the conundrum!

Unless your last coffee with us was our Ethiopian SO or Brazil Peaberry SO, you shouldn't need to adjust too much and you know which each notch you get closer and closer to a delicious coffee…fingers crossed with each word I type your arm is twisting towards pulling the trigger on another order, perhaps just wishful thinking haha :)

  • Just ordered. Thanks OP

    • Amazing, thank you so much for your order, it's truly appreciated :)

  • The delayed dispatch calendar is a good addition to the checkout process. Ordered, thanks.

    • Morning moocher :)

Wonderful to hear, very happy you think it's a "good addition." This is the 2.0 version of our delayed dispatch system (1.0 was just leaving an order note, but order notes weren't automatically sent in order confirmation emails, now they are). We're already working on version 3.0… to make the system even better!

Thank you so much for your order, it really does mean so much for our small hardworking team, we hope you love this delicious Single Origin :)

  • This is the same bean that came in the random buyer club this month.

You're damn straight I just bought some more

    • Love that instant order reaction!!!

Thank you so much for another terrific order and being a Member of our FBC, it's truly appreciated!

Just to clarify (to make sure you got to enjoy the exact experience you should) you got this as your Mystery Flight stop in Feb and a different SO in March that's not currently available (and never has been…super exclusive) for purchase on our site AKA Mystery Flight stops are for exclusive coffees at the time of each stop?

  • Can vouch for this blend.

Best described as not too strong.

For a single blend it is versatile. You can drink it short / long black or do latte. I have it with Aldi organic soy milk ($1.49) frothed.

  • Hey OP, if this is especially suited to black coffee how does it compare between single and double espresso shots in a larger cup? I find that some coffees will be a bit weak with a single shot but overpowering with a double shot. Here in TAS a local roaster does a blend of PNG and Ethiopian that's awesome with two shots into a mug.

    • Nice question, thanks for taking the time to reach out!

This one works really well for both black and white (milk based) coffees. We generally recommend a double ristretto for milk based coffees (we put our brew recipe recommendations on the bag for black and white coffees), which is between a single and double shot, but closer to a double than a single. To be frank in terms of the suitability to your mug specifically that comes down the the equipment you extract with and the size of your mug. I can confidently say this SO cuts through milk very well which is what you'll need/want for the mug. Know this may not be the perfect answer for you, I just hope this answer is helpful enough for you to decide.

Please let me know if you have any more questions :)

      • Thanks for the detailed answer, it does tell me what I need to know. For reference, we splurged last year and treated ourselves to a Lelit Bianca which has a 58mm basket and variable pressure selection. I personally like to have white coffee at breakfast then switch to black through the day, and use a large 12oz mug so I can sip it over a longer period while I'm working. (Yes, I know, it will cool quite a bit over time but I actually like to experience the change in flavour as the temperature goes down.) To make a long black, almost Americano, coffee I'll usually just put a single shot into the mug, and since this is a stronger flavour it sounds like that would be the way for me to go.

In any case, I'll try both single and double shots and let you know! That's one of the things I like about trying different roasts and roasters, they're all slightly different and you never know when you're going to uncover a hidden gem.

  • +1

My new fav roaster, plus Tom is a top bloke. Nice one guys.

    • Tom is a top bloke agreed. Bring on the Tim Tams!

      • Woohoo for a second on all the nice things said, it really does mean the world, thank you truly Faithgrrl!!!

Woot woot bring on the the Tim Tam parties, which are arguably the best kind of parties next to coffee parties haha :)

    • WOW that's amazing to hear, thank you immensely for that Lime Blue Coffee and personal compliment too, so thoughtful, it brought a big smile to this side of the screen :) :) :)

      Best Wishes,

      Tom.

  • +1

I’m really wanting to try Lime Blue Coffee, but I think Brazil Sao Paulo might be more to my tastes as I’m not a fan of fruitier coffee. Any chance on that one going on sale again as I hesitated and missed the last sale on that one :(

    • Shucks, never fun missing out!

Terrific to know you're still keen to try us out. I'm sure at some point in the future we'll highlight the Brazil Sao Paulo again as it's been so popular (for good reason), however there's no plans for a BSP deal in the immediate. This one is fruitier than the BSP, but I wouldn't describe this coffee as a stand alone fruity coffee. The fruitiness does not overpowering the chocolate flavours. Just a thought, you could order 2x500g that way you won't miss out twice in a row and if it's not a favourite for you then you've got an unopened 500g to give someone as a gift:)

  • Hey rep. How is this Peru SO one compared with São Paulo Brazil in terms on bitterness?
    Cheers

    • Great question, bit of a curve ball to answer perfectly specific to your experience and without writing a novel in my answer, but here goes :)

From a technical perspective I'd say they both have relatively the same level of bitterness, but in a good balanced way not in a take a sip and think "this is bitter" way. If you did perceive bitterness in the Brazil then there will be less bitterness perception in this SO due to the impact of the other flavour properties. Hope this helps answer your question :)

  • Keen to try this. Drinking the Lime Blue Columbian SO currently and have to say, it's got to be one of my favourites.

    • WOOHOO that's wonderful to hear, thank you so much for your order/s and that outstanding compliment, I'm absolutely wrapped!

If you fire off an order I believe you'll be in for a real treat because if you thought our Colombian SO one of your favourites you'll need to make space to add another one to the list AKA as you enjoyed our Colombian so much I'd be astounded if you didn't enjoy our Peru as much or even more :)

  • Been loving these beans! Ordered another batch :)

One question I have about the little method notes they put on each blend, e.g. for milk coffee my current one says In 20g Out 20g in 18 secs. From my understanding that's something like a ristretto?

My Breville usually puts out about 60g in 25-30 seconds (at least that's what I calibrate to). So 20g is significantly less espresso - doesn't that just make it a lot weaker? I have tried it a couple times and it's not quite strong enough to cut through, just seems like too little. I drink with soy if that makes any difference.

What am I missing here? Could be that my portafilter doesn't actually fit 20g, seems to be more around 18g capacity. Any advice would be awesome.

    • +2

That's a turbo shot output essentially which is very different from the classic 1:2 ratio espresso. What happens when you grind much finer so you achieve a 1:2 ratio in the same 25-30 seconds?

      • Yeh righto. Haven't really tried so I'll give that a go then. I can reprogram the button I think, so maybe if I sort that out I'll save the setting.

    • 20g->60g in 30s would be for a very light roast, people have been experimenting with light roast espresso up to even a 4:1 ratio.

Do you have a 58mm portafilter? If so you can buy a VST basket that is made to hold 20g, otherwise yeah just use 17/18/19, whatever fits in your current basket. Also 60g in 30s is not quite right, sounds like you need to grind finer.

For my espresso shots I use a 2:1 ratio, 19g in my basket, around 38g out in about 30s.

      • Yeah okay, never realised as that's just what the default 2-shot button press does. Only got some scales recently and figured out it was doing a lot more than 2:1!

Nah mine is 54mm. I will try getting around 36-40g out in 30 secs and see how that goes. Cheers

  • How's this compare to Sumatran blend from another vendor here in Ozb?

    • +2

      LB eats airjo's lunch

      • so lunch is better at airjo? LB need to eat it too? lol
bought a kilo to try on..

  • Hi Rep, thanks for this deal. Do you ever have, or currently have, a discount deal on decaf? I am currently drinking AirJo and would like to try your swiss water decaf sometime soon. Cheers!

  • Out of all the Lime Blue coffee beans this one has been my favourite & I think I've tried them all except the decaf. Found this one to be the least bitter / most smooth and with a chocalatey taste if my memory serves me right.

  • can anyone recommend some grind settings of the breville smart grinder?

I'm currently on the Brazil São Paulo Single Origin and I'm constantly under extracting.

I'm fairly new to the coffee scene so any help would be appreciated.

    • Have you tried packing more grinds in, or going finer?

    • What machine and what dose/output in what time currently?

      • Breville dual boiler 30 secs. current grind settings is 9.2sec at 6 grind. before it was 8 and I got very little coffee out

        • what about input/output in weights? you may be experiencing channeling and you may need to improve puck prep with a WDT tool (look for youtube videos - 0.35 mm needles may be best) and a better tamper ie. 58.5 mm (self levelling is best for beginners)

    • I found 7 when fresh down to 5 with aging.

  • Perfect timing !! I have 0.5kg to finish with my current bean. Excited to try this time.

  • Best way to store this? I go through 250g in like 2 months haha. Also how long does shipping take?
