Wow that is a great deal for a 560

    Thanks OP.

  • +12

Awesome deal. I have heard great things when it comes to customer service at PC Case Gear. My mate had a video card from them. It broke after 11 months while in warranty and they didn't just replace it, they gave him a newer better video card based on price.

    • +4

Yeah great service, really helpful when I made a mistake on an order. Shipping can be bit steep though

      Great deal OP!

    • Yeah they have the best service out of any of the on line stores and have been around for a very long time.

  • +1

Plays battlefield 3 on high but not ultra.

    • +3

      good enough for me =)

    • Now I need to get Battlefield 3 :)

  • +8

remember this is the 560 se, not the standard 560 or the ti. Runs a little worse than the 560, but definitely not a bad card overall. Probably exactly the same as the 460se in terms of performance.

    • +2

      I have a 460se. So i guess definitely not worth the upgrade…

    • +2

From what I gather it may well perform slightly worse than the GTX 460 SE.

      The 460 SE has a 256-bit memory bus (108.8 GB/s) while the 560 SE is 192-bit (92 GB/s).

They both have the exact same amount of CUDA cores (288), shader modules and TMU's; but the 560 SE's clocks have been bumped up to compensate for lower texel and pixel rates.
Both have TDP's of 150W but the GF114 is cooler than the older Fermi architecture, so that may come into play if you decide to OC the 560 SE (even still, the Fermi cards had legendary OC'ing capabilities so I'm not sure if makes a tangible difference).

Apparently it's closest cousin is the GTX 555 (OEM-only), which from reviews is capable of running BF3 on High and Crysis 2 on the lowest settings with the FPS staying well above the 30 mark; so it's more than suitable for a budget-oriented gamer:
      http://au.ign.com/articles/2012/02/04/alienware-x51-review

By default the Radeon 5850/7770 would be it's direct competitors. Which are also a bang for your buck gaming cards.

      From what I understand it's 560SE < 460 SE < 460 1GB < 560 < 560 Ti < 560 448 core =/= 570

Personally anyone considering this card should opt for two if possible, as it's in SLI you'll see the most value for your money scaling from the GF114 chip, if the previous generation's SLI king was anything to go by:
      http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/314?vs=305

You may well be looking at performance equal to 5% greater than a GTX 580 for only $238 with two GTX 560 SE's which is an unbeatable, dollar-to-performance ratio considering the cheapest GTX 580's in Australia are still going for roughly $430~450:

  • +1

Better than a 5850-80 if anyone is interested.

  • +3

Pccasegear are easy one of the best suppliers in Vic if not Aus. If I order before 11am its always delivered next day in regional Vic. Would definitely consider 2 of these in sli if my already 2x460s couldn't max games out.

    • They used to be better when you would order in the morning and get it the same day. But still is a great shop.

      • Aus PC Market does that.. i order my product in the morning and in the afternoon its at my office before i go home :) but there prices are a litter higher so i mostly order from somewhere else to save the money..

  • +3

    Sorry if I misguided anyone.

This is a slightly cut down version of the full 560gtx.

    Hence Smart edition.

    • +4

Might be a good idea to add that to the description. Good find nonetheless :)

      • +2

I can't edit the main title it wants to start a new deal. Can a mod change that to SE version.

        • +3

          Thanks, got your report; done

  • +1

Damn.. already invested in ATI 6870 (which is still a tad faster).. but very good price this..

  • +1

would this card be compatible with pci-x first generation? Also when hooked up to the tv does the sound come through the hdmi port from the graphics card, or do I have to connect the audio separately via 3.5mm or toslink?

I know my pc is old =(

    • +1

i think it is pci-e only as most new cards,

    • If you meant the first generation of PCI-E then yes it will work, if you mean PCI-X (E and X are different sockets) then no it won't unfortunately.

And yes the audio runs through the HDMI port :)

  • I just ordered this thinking it was a regular GTX560, do you think PCCG will let me cancel my order?

    • +1

Definitely doesn't hurt to email / call customer service (naturally not really call at 9pm on sat) and ask.

  • was just about to post this one lol :)

  • some good prices on their site.

  • hmmm, noob question, two of these with Crossfire or ATI 7850 by itself…

two of these is still cheaper than one single 7850…

    • +1

Can't crossfire NVIDIA cards. SLI. Bought a Sapphire 7850 2GB OC edition yesterday. No regrets. Brilliant card, but a tad too expensive.

  • +7

Yuck… 192 bit. Normal GTX560 is 256-bit. The card sells for between $151 - $159 at most retailers. A good price, but not a huge savings ($20 or so).

  • +1

Very tempting price. MSY's cheapest is $159 I believe?
    Hmm I've got a GTX275 right now… should I hold out a bit more?

      • +3

PC and console gaming have nothing to do with each other. You'll still have games that can push GPU's to the max regardless of what a console can or cannot do.
Mainly because a console only needs to churn out 1080P and how it works isn't exactly the same as a computer. If you want the specifics, you'll have to google it yourself or someone else can fill in.

But having the illusion that because the current gen consoles are around PC gaming won't be any more intensive is a big no no.

        • +1

          +1.

The thing is games currently made for consoles are graphically like running their pc counterpart of the game at medium-high settings. Which is why a lot of pc gamers buy the latest cards so that they can enjoy high quality graphics for the games they play rather than not having that as an option and being stuck with games that don't look as good.

      • +2

Consoles don't even render at 1080p, closer to 576p for 95% of games and the image is scaled up from there. Whereas with pc games its nearly standard to run at 1080p these days given how cheap 1080p monitors are. Not to mention they only need to run about 30fps~

I'm running a gtx480 at 1920x1080, quite a few games give it a good run for its money. E.g Risen 2 brings it pretty close to its knees, spots with min fps around 15fps.

        • +4

I think you need to install a game that's come out in the last 20 years, higher settings do make a difference.

        • lol, what do you mean 1680x1050 isn't "full screen"? 1080 is just an arbitrary number, it's no more or less "full" than any other resolution. Anyway, I don't take the opinions seriously of people who are using 16:9 PC monitors.

      • +1

I still have a 9800GT (rebranded 8800GT) which runs everything perfectly at 1680x1050

What are you playing, tetris or minesweeper? LOL

As long the current generation of consoles are around, we won't see any games that even push a Geforce 400-series.

You're kidding, right? The current PC games are pushing the absolutely latest 7*** series cards to the max, and those are about twice as fast as this cruddy card.

But that said, this cut-down GTX560se card is still more than double the speed of your clunky old 9800GT

After all, these games have to run on 2005-era hardware.

Ummm - say what? This is a graphics card for a PC, not for a console. Sheesh!

        • "What are you playing, tetris or minesweeper? LOL"

          Try Diablo 3.

        • +1

LOL… ignorance is bliss, I guess? Diablo 3 is a very graphics UN-intensive game.

have faith that Blizzard generally caters to the low end market as much as they can, however, with that in mind, the higher end graphics cards will make the game look nice still.

          http://www.brainlazy.com/article/video-games/diablo-3-graphi…

Lego Star Wars will run perfectly on a 9800GT (it runs fine on an old Nvidea 6800 Ultra), but that doesn't mean that it's typical of the kind of performance that is needed for modern, high-end games.

Also you don't seem to understand that at only 1680x1050 (1.765Mpx) you are not even running "full-screen" (1920x1080 = 2.074MPx), so you require heaps less GPU grunt than most people would need on a modern monitor.

The 9800GT is listed by the designer as "medium performance" so, even in the best situation with a "graphically easy" game like Diablo, your old card is struggling to keep up.

And in any well-written game, you won't be given options of settings that you cannot use. Hence, you probably have no idea what you are missing out on.

      • +3

Rubbish. Your eyes and brain are wonky. Skyrim for my PC has a much higher resolution than the XBox360 (720 vs 1200), textures on most things are 4x higher, higher quality objects can be seen at twice the distance and many other visual improvements the XBox and your graphics card can't handle.

If you don't care for graphics, well thats fine, but to say there is no difference is ridiculous.

        • -3

I don't know what Skyrim is and I don't care. I have yet to find a game that I play that won't run on my 9800GT. Portal 2 ran perfectly, Tropico 4 and Anno 2070 - perfectly. Starcraft 2 - perfect. Let me know when there's something that needs more horsepower. 9800GT has a ton of grunt.

        • +1

          Skyrim
          Don't care.
Let you know when there is a game that needs more horsepower.

          okay.jpg.

The games you listed are much more cpu dependent than gpu with the exception of Portal 2 which was never a heavy game to begin with as it runs on the source engine. For the games you listed 9800 is more than enough especially at the resolution you play at. Heck a 9800 is probably enough to play all the games out currently; at lower resolutions or lower graphical settings. Sure it's enough but not everyone settles for just enough, especially when there are noticeable differences.

      • Try Shogun 2 - Total War, PC game only. Below are 2 URL's for video's, please tell me you can see a difference.

One URL is a video for a 9800GT being used on the game, still playable, the other video is of a very powerful rig at max settings. You might not think the cost is not worth it, but that is not what we are debating, you are saying it will run the game perfectly, but you are missing out on so many details.

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SchHA0WBOWY

Also below Skyrim, first on the 9800GT, again still playable the other is at max graphics which looks much better on textures and lighting.

MSY sell the normal and Ti spec 560's though. As pointed out in the above comments, this is the cut down 560SE version, hence the slightly lower price.

      • if they actually have the Ti in stock.. which can be pretty rare

  • +4

Smart Edition pfft everyone knows SE always means S*** Edition. A normal GTX 560 at PCCG is $159 so $40 saving is BS.

  • +1

Yuck. This is a slightly improved GTX460SE. Has the same 192-bit bus and 288 cuda cores. A 1GB 336-core GTX460 will run faster than this. Better off getting one of those off ebay for less $$.

    • +2

But you're almost always going to get better value for your money when buying second-hand parts.

  • I already have an AMD 6950 (unlocked to 6970 cores and clock) but this is a great deal for $119, it should run any game you throw at it as long as you turn the detail down to a reasonable level.

  • Thanks Mod

Was excited to find this so I posted before doing due diligence.

  • thought it was the 560 normal version
which would make this a good deal

but it is just SE, so nothing special about this price..

    • I agree, the performance is slightly above the 550ti, but only by 2% or so overall. Much better off saving your pennies and getting a full blown 560 or a 7850.

      • +1

this is slightly faster than 550ti?
if only 2% then I rather just get 550 from msy which only cost $119 and not need to worry about postage cost to send back to VIC

  • +3

This is the SE version which is less powerful than the vanilla GTX 560

    Hierarchy

    GTX 560SE < GTX 560 < GTX 560 Ti

Not sure why people are voting this up.

    • +1

how faster is this than 550 from msy?

      • Apparently not much faster. It is in fact 4.6% weaker than the previous generation GTX 460+, but on the topside, roughly 8% more powerful than its similarly priced counterpart the Radeon 7770.

So… its significantly better value compared to a 7770 which sells for $149 ($30 difference) but TBH if you're serious about gaming, you'd be better off settling for a GTX 560 or 6850.

        • +1

I wish I havent ordered this so hastily, I really thought it was the GTX560 not some watered down version…. I really need to cancel my order. This isnt actually good value for money considering I could get an HD6850 from msy for only 139 and not have to worry about postage and warranty…

        • +2

Wouldnt get too worked up about it, just ring the clowns on monday and ask for the order to be cancelled.

PCCG went downhill after Trevor left (one of the original owners)

  • This is same price range as the new HD 7770 28nm.
6~7% faster than the HD7770, consumes 90W more power at full load (257 compared to 164), but makes a bit less noise at full load.

  • +1

    Will it run Crysis?

  • The xbox can run crysis.

  • +4

    SE = Slow Edition.

  • +1

I wanted to get a good graphics card, that can run crysis 2/ BF3/ etc on Maximum settings with playable frame rates. I was thinking of getting the ASUS Gtx560.. but not sure how good the 560 is, any suggestions oh and my budget is $300
    Thanks :)
I also prefer Nvidia cards :)

    • +2

Just hold off a little bit, the GTX 670 will hit shelfs in the next day or two, stock is already in Aus, the GTX 660 will also be on shelves within 2 weeks for around the price point your spending.

  • If this can play skyrim on ultra settings I'm buying one.

    • Tall ask chief, maybe without any AA or AF then perhaps. Depends on your resolution. With any draw distance or texture mods, then no not a chance.

      • Thanks for the heads up, will have to increase my budget

  • Hi fellow oz bargainers just wanted some advice as to whether I should should get this instead of my 4890 or is it not a significant enough improvement?

    • It is not a significant improvement. Power usage would be slightly better, but not worth the upgrade.
