    Nearly down to msrp. Nice.

Asus said yesterday in their earnings call that they have finished 'strategic stockpiling' and will now be clearing inventory this quarter and next.

Personally I'd wait for discount off msrp or save the cash for later in the year for all the N5 cards.

    Isn’t this $20 off msrp?

    • +2

Yes, MSRP is $959. you need afterpay to pay tho.

  • Damn tempting but new gpus are just 6 months away.

    • Okay, what new GPU's?

Also this is definitely a good buy if you need a GPU right now.

      • Definitely a good buy if you're after one now.
We have intel alchemist late Q2 iirc
        Nvidia 4000 series September

  • These are nice prices finally!

    HODL

  • (hoping OP will bite)
    is this LHR?

    • I hope im not mistaken but i remember that all Ti variants are LHR

People need to be realistic about getting a GPU they can use now at a decent price, sure the 4XXX series is around the corner but there is no guarantee of $ or availability on time of release.

    https://www.pcgamer.com/au/asus-fires-huge-salvo-in-gpu-pric…

^^ The reason ASUS GPUs have been slashed, then others have followed suite.

    https://www.tomshardware.com/news/grab-an-nvidia-rtx-3080-gp…

US Amazon has 3080 for $1320 USD, it appears Australia for once is getting the best deals worldwide when it comes to GPUs.
I would suggest just buying a GPU now if you have been waiting for a long time and wanting to bite the bullet. All these sellers on eBay are selling out quick smart, you might never know when these deals will appear again, both ASUS and Gigabyte must have brought in a 1000 of each of their line as it appears most sellers of 3070Tis have sold around 100. Again who knows when both will bring in more so if you're on the edge of buying, there is simply no better time to now, or you might simply just miss out.
You can sell later on and with get a pretty coin back, maybe 75%, but at least you will have a better GPU for the next 6~ months and be able to use it rather than any possible FOMO.

    • Also if you are willing to risk, its better to wait. Next gen GPUs with almost twice the Raster performance and RTX performance hinted to be 20 to 30% better than current ones will make the 3080 look like its bottom of the chart in front of a 4080 when RTX is turned on. Future games are all RTX. The competition is real this time between AMD and nvidia. Also not to forget Ampere's VRAM is not sufficient for future games for hires.

I am holding. If others want to hold or buy its upto them. Everything has a risk involved. I dont game full time so I will definitely wait this out. I am ok if I dont get a GPU till next jan.

      • Its better for people to make an informed decision as to what they want. At this point everyone here probably already knows the pros on cons of waiting. Not to blame me if prices increases later or blame non-Lhr if prices drop. Everyone is on thier own :)

I decided to wait to buy something for the 3000s to be released. I'm still waiting to buy. I wish I'd just bought a 2070 ages ago.

        • +1

mate, its just not you. Many skipped the 2000 series as they were not much better and waited for 3xxx series including me. But unfortunate times. If you feel now is the time to buy as your missing out on quality gaming, pull the trigger :)

          • @[Deactivated]: It's such a tricky one! I'm still going to hold out a bit longer but mainly because I just spent my GPU budget on a 5950x. I'm getting by with a RX580 that I picked up in 2020 for $220 as a stop gap and I keep telling myself that it isn't really a gaming PC, it's my work PC lol

I waited through from 10 series (1060) and finally jumped in for a 3070 ti (disclosure: price protection). Waited and waited. Each time the supposed increases don't make a lot of difference as the game developers need to also keep up. They also will take ages to adopt the features like ray tracing and DLSS, its not that simple a task.

In a similar way, do you buy the run-out car model at discount, or wait for the new model and full sticker price. Your call.

Everyone is different, just jump in when the price bracket suits.

        • Ya its all prioriries and what you currently have and how much you like to play. I have a 1080, so wait. Also cannot compare to car. Cars dont have 2X better performance in just 2 years cycle which is just a few months away.

          • @[Deactivated]: If I had a 1080 I could of waited it out. 1060 just wasn't good enough for 1440p.

With price protection jumping in on the runout by distributors is fine. I'm anticipating 4000 series prices to be crazy at the start with demand outdoing supply,

            • @tm32: That will surely be the case! I am not expecting to buy a next gen in september even if its released. Probably late nov or Jan. Unless second hand mined card hit market, things could change.

  • Holy shit 3070 TI sub 1k?!

  • it seems the other sellers still in stock have slapped an extra $50 on their price. most cards showing for ~$985 now

    • d*ck move by retailers, early birds gets the worm, late ones gets $50.

      • Retailers are used to making nice profit. They feel bad about reducing it in an instance. Its like waking up from a wet dream for them.

      • ~$1020 now

  • +1

haha I wasn't quick enough, was just saying 3070Ti will be under $1k in 1 week or two, but miracle already happened NOW!

    • +2

But this is just afterpay thingy :D Your evaluation still holds true.

  • +1

You can still get this model and the "VISION OC" model from Scorptech eBay for $943.50

    • +1

do they also have the WANDA OC ?

  • Funny how one retailer drops their price they all follow suit, and then one price jacks the rest follow. Bit of a dick move. "oh this is settling too well, increase the price so we can make more money"

    • maybe they all got the same big boss 'up there', they all came from the same factory anyway.

Thanks OP! Bought one yesterday and it's already arrived today hahah how good :D
