can you please do a deal on tamron 17-50 VC and Non VC?

    • and tamron 18-200 as well please…

    • This place is cheaper, free Express aus shipping too. I source my lenses from here. Arrived in 2-3 working days
      Digital Rev

Camerapro is local Australian stock, Digital Rev is grey import stock. Please don't compare Australian stock price with grey import price.

        • correct me if wrong, but i believe lenses or at least Canon lenses have worldwide warranty, so it wouldnt matter where it was bought from right?

        • +1

Incorrect. And the international L lens warranty once offered by Canon, as I understand it, no longer exists either.

        • +1

It comes with a 1 year warranty also. I don't see the big deal for it being local australian stock. It's the same item, and postage within the same time period. Well, for the wise people out there, digital rev is a better deal and source… Also, As long as you take care of your lenses, they can last well over the warranty date.

  • Tempted by the 90mm Macro. Reviews suggest noisy and hunting AF, but a lot of macro is MF anyway. It's sharp though apparently.

Just wish the Canon 100mm Macro was discounted a similar percentage, considering the RRP is only $200 more than this one.

I have one of these, hunting AF is right, but i love it to death. Originally i had the canon 100mm 2.8 usm macro lens and it was beautiful… it got stolen (thankfully insured) and when i went to get a new one there were a few new options (such as the new ef-s 60mm 2.8 macro). Ultimately someone i knew had the 90mm tamron and gave it to me quite cheaply, it does hunt af (and its slow to do so) and i use it on manual focus, but i've never had any faults with its results.

On a side note, the AF hunting never has bothered me. I found with macro on the 100mm canon lens, I was often working with manual focus.

Btw, a good way i find of checking out lens is pbase's camera database (which does include lenses) http://www.pbase.com/cameras

http://www.pbase.com/cameras/tamron/sp_af_di_90_28_macro is to the tamron lens itself.

What would be the best price you can offer on the Pentax K-5 & PTX DA 18-55MM WR. I can obtain one for around the $1000 delivered mark from grey market.

    • +2

That's a little harsh isn't it? Tamron do make some good lenses. And like any other manufacturer, they have their hits and misses.

    • not everyone can afford $1000+ per nikon lens.

the 18-270 pzd is probably the best superzoom out there, even better than Nikon's

the 18-50 non vc is the sharpest of its type and comes close to the nikon 17-55… at 1/3 of the price

tamron probably make the best 3rd party lenses out there

probably better off getting it from overseas though

  • I'm going to buy my first DSLR in a month or so before I leave for overseas. I've settled on a Canon 60D, body only so I can spend more on a quality lens. I figure the first lens I buy should be a good all rounder. I will be living in Vanuatu so a lot of my shots will be in high light, maybe some time lapse of sunsets etc and possibly a lot of video. I've heard Tamron lenses are really good so would any of these lenses be suitable to my application?

    • For all round travel, if I had to pick one lens, it would be an 18-200. 18-200 is very versatile, and lets you shoot almost everything. However, the 10-24 would be really good for landscape. I'd highly recommend getting a wider lens like that if you like shooting nature. Things like wider lenses, macros, etc - unless you know what you're after you probably shouldn't buy them first off.

While 18-200 is very convenient, due to its focal range it degrades image quality a bit too much though. I would get the Canon 18-135 instead, coz for starter I reckon 99% of time you wouldn't miss extra range provided by 18-200.

  • whats the point of buying lens with "AUST" stock when all lens are international warranty? you can email tamron and they will issue u the international warranty

  • Tamron 18-270 PZD
This Tamrons a great all rounder, I have one. If travelling it can save a lot of weight. But I'd check around for prices - if you don't live in Brisbane(postage)an Australian stock price match(or less) locally would be easily obtainable on that pricing. I paid $590 at Bing Lee last year. Current gray prices are significantly cheaper again.

  • What mounts are these prices for? Is the Pentax K-Mounts the same pricing?

  • Price/ETA on the Tamron 24-70mm VC USD?

    • I second the 24-70

  • Excellent price for the 18-270 PZD. Would buy if I didn't already have it :)

  • Would be great to see some deals on Tokina stuff. 40% off a Tokina lens would make me smile :)

  • I have nikon 18-200mm. Is it worth getting the 18-270? otherwise I may look at the 10-24mm since I don't have a wide angle lense.

    • Your Nikon is the best (and most expensive) of the super-zooms. You don't need to change.
