  • is there any deals for 3800Mhz ram? also i'm speccing all the deals to built a big budget PC that fast…

    • +2

not sure about any deals but iirc 3600mhz ram is the best cost to performance ddr4 out there, any extra and you start to see diminishing returns

        • hmm why did u go for such a high end mobo?

          • @Brrrrt: told by a magazine from a computer store to invest in a m/b.

            • @ilove: is 5600G a good CPU? 3.9GHz that 6 3900Mhz right? I think the asus pro art m/b be good with extra inputs or whatever it has for more price…, I wonder what to get for PSU? what is the different between gold and bronze? is just a name for what?

What is a good Drive? LG? Will the cheapest Brand name SSD do? (least likely to fail). I will do some research now. $1502 seems a good price as it's wow includes 3 year warranty.

              • +3

@ilove: Your build is a bit of a mess.
5600g is ok, but less performance than a 5600x (about 10% less)

That motherboard is overkill, even for a 5950x is isn't necessary and a waste of money.

You don't even have a gpu and you're getting charged $1500.

                  • +1

@ilove: You should note that an APU (5600G) uses a portion of the system's RAM to act like a GPU's vRAM. 16GB is widely touted to be enough, but 32GB will better futureproof your system if you don't want to buy now and have to upgrade later as games get more demanding. Source

Also AMD works best in a dual-channel RAM setup, so make sure you get 2 sticks of RAM, whether that be 2x8GB (16GB) or 2x16GB (32GB).

                  • +1

@ilove: If I were you, I would be looking at an Intel 12600 system, it will be much more powerful than a 5600g.

You could upgrade to a 12600k for +$50 (worth the upgrade) but you will need to add $80 for a cooler as it doesn't come with one.

This is just an indication, you could shave off cost with a cheaper motherboard and smaller HDD.

Would you be comfortable installing windows yourself?

                    • @greatlamp: I had a Asus then a Gigabyte. I find the Asus better. Is it good to get a Asus M/B than the Gigabyte? that 4000D has a slight usb compatibility issue, a non issue? would the fractal design case rank lower than the Cosair 400D in Quality? Thankyou.

                        @ilove:

                        • The motherboard brand really doesn't matter.

All the big 4 brands (Asus. Gigabyte, Asrock, MSI) insource most of the same components.

The differences are between models, and what features they include. They are all built to basically the same quality.

The most important component - the B550 chipset - is made by AMD, and will be the same regardless which motherboard brand you pick.

You really do not need an X570 motherboard for a 6 core CPU.

There are differences in power delivery between the cheapest and more expensive boards, but with the CPU you are considering - 6 core 65w part - any motherboard will really be fine.

                        • The included cooler will be fine for your uses, an aftermarket cooler will allow lower temperatures and make less noise, but the one you get included with the 5600g will be fine otherwise.

If you really must have one, the Gammaxx 400 is one of the best value coolers at the moment. I do not recommend an AIO liquid cooler, they are not better performing, cost more, and less reliable than an air cooler.

                        • Why only a 1tb HDD, surely something a bit bigger will cost not much more?

                        • A fractal design case will likely be better quality than the Corsair 4000d, but more expensive. Corsair is a good brand, the 4000d is a budget case though, whereas fractal design don't really have budget models.

I think spending more than 10% of the total price on the box your parts sit in is already a bit much. The money would be better spent on a better CPU. If your budget is open, the 12700 would be ideal

                        • you really should get 2 x 8gb ram sticks instead of 1x16gb, it should cost the same, but you will get more performance by being able to run the ram in dual channel (the CPU can read/write to both sticks at the same time)
        • +2

CPU - that's fine. 5700g for a slight step up.

Board - Overkill. Something around $50-100 will do just as well, all the good budget boards will have VRMs that are able to run even a 5950x down the line.

Memory - 3600c18 is on par with 3200c16 in terms of speed, not very fast. look for 3600c16 instead, it'll help with the iGPU too, and those Rev.E/B or DJR/CJR 3600c16 sticks can go past 4000 easily if manualled. Also, consider 32gb as the iGPU VRAM is shared with system ram.

          SSD - Decent
HDD - Please don't, just get a 1tb mx500 or something instead to replace both drives, horrible value for a 1TB HDD as well as nearly unusable for games etc.

PSU - fine (although for budget units modular/semi-modular golds exist down here too)
          DVD writer - fine

Wifi adapter - PLEASE GOD NO, wifi N is about 10 years too old to work well, you will notice it being slow and having worse latency, connection etc. Get a AC7xxx or newer, or a ax200/210 etc, or just a motherboard with wifi/BT built in.

          • @HPdeskjet: please choose a asus m/b with wifi for me. and a nice PSU. my last Pc is from 2009. so much choose and range.

how do i skim the costs? and i forgot the ssd

  • is this ram any good? was gonna get g.skill trident neo 32gb ram for around the same price but now I'm thinking of getting this.

    • +1

The Amazon reviews for both the 3200 and 3600 are good, no third party reviews found. The timings are the same as Corsair for a cheaper price so they are probably Hynix IC that will run exactly at XMP but will not overclock strongly

    • G.skill is a well known brand, timetec is (or was) a China only brand that I only saw on Aliexpress before.

Since Amazon have good support, not much to worry about RE warranty

  • Killer deal if you need the capacity, it's probably cheaper than some 32GB kits, speed isn't awful either given it's CL16, your mileage will vary getting it to run any faster but if you're buying 64GB you're buying for capacity not speed, if you want DDR4 for gaming, consider a 32GB kit that has similar timings but maybe 3600/3800 (8GBx4 is optimal from recent tests if your motherboard has 4 DIMM slots).
