I have the G12, it's a great machine. Ensure you have plenty of space for this unit if you purchase it as the weight plates on the G20 mount flush againt the back of the machine meaning you can't install it against a wall. The G12 allows for a smaller space install with angled side weight storage. It takes hours (took 2 people 6 hours to assemble the G12) so be prepared for that. Be aware that the leg press is unusable, it just doesn't work as designed. It is awkward and uncomfortable to use.

I was looking at the G12. Do you feel the pulley ratio of 1 to 1 works well? I went to see the machine but the stores don't have any setup so it's hard to actually get a feel for it.

My worry with cables is that some machines feel a little awkward and I can't explain why but I have a feeling its due to the pulley ratio.

      • +1

I find the cable system and smith machine work great. The only criticism would be the plate increments range from 4kg and 5kg, would be better if they were 2kg or 2.5kg. Going up a plate each side is 8kg or 10kg, it's just too much of an increase.

      • +1

I have the g3 which is 2:1 ratio and is a plate loaded (I.e not weight stack) machine. Very happy with it overall.
Cables are fairly smooth, not as smooth as commercial equipment but still fit for purpose. The g12 should be way smoother then the g3 too as it's not plate loaded.

I think 1:1 ratio is preferable if you can afford a machine that has it. For me with my g3 and 2:1 ratio for exercises such as rows and lat pulldowns I can easily exceed the maximum possible amount of weight that can be loaded up, which is a bit frustrating. If I could buy again I would spend more and get 1:1.

    I wish i could say i bought 10

    • you could say you bought 10 but people would know you didn’t because who has enough room for 10 of these ….

I swear my mate bought something like this before Covid for like $1,500

It looks very similar, same brand.

Gyms are fully open now, with the amount of gear sold the last few years I'd hold til these are half price lol

    • Nah it's not the same, this has the inbuilt weight stacks. The ones without the weight stacks are much cheaper though. This was a few K cheaper though, it's priced along side the inspire ft2 functional trainer which is a far better built machine. I'd never go for ForceUSA over inspire at this price point.
