  • B*gger, hope there are some left when I get there after work. Will give it a try later, thanks. The free parking allowance is 3 hours, already quite generous so free all-day parking isn't a big deal.

      can;t you re-park every 3hrs anyway?

Sure, it's just a hassle. But that tactic won't work at some car parks that have installed rego plate recognition cameras.

        • Correct and Rhodes does indeed have license plate recognition.

        • so you can only park 3 hours everyday for free? what if i go there in the morning and return in the afternoon because i forgot to grab a load of bread?

        • You get charged the usual rates the second and subsequent times.

        • I have been to Ikea Rhodes in the morning for a couple hours and then again in the evening for a couple hours. I was not charged for the second entry and confirmed with the car park staff that the recognition system was in place to stop people moving their car in out in subsequent 3 hour blocks. Hence in my case no extra charge.

However in Westfield chatswood (also with licence plate recognition) when I have done the same thing I have been charged when I went back in the evening. Despite arguing with the intercom parking attendant that I was in there earlier in the day and had spent hundreds of dollars they didn't care - only one free entry per day.

End of the day depends on the carpark what system they have in place.

        • However had Rhodes insisted on the letter of the conditions, you could have been charged a full day rate, as it says on the notice at the entry.

        • wow! bugger! thanks!

  • nice deal, shame I cannot get there today got work to finish.

  • Apologies, To clarify the parking the voucher is valid till the 27/5/12. The details read:
"Present this voucher to the customer service desk during core trading hours on Saturday or Sunday to receive your free all day parking! Valid until the 27 May 2012. Valid on weekends only".

    • Aha, so you could use it to leave your car there while you go into the city on a weekend by train. But not on a workday.

      • Yep, but plenty of free parking nearer the station on weekends so not particularly great if that was your purpose.

According to the concierge it was a one off promotion for one hour this morning so looks like you were lucky, OP.

    • bugger!
