    If only it was smart.

Nice find though good and bright

      If only it was smart.

Maybe if you use your free $10 voucher to buy two?

  • -2

    How much is it normally?

    • +24

Normally $0 if it carries a company name, as it'll be free advertisement by the holder. Don't know how bunnings and supercheap run away with charging for their ads !
      Think a waking billboard

      • Google search brings up usage of nail polish remover to remove brand names. Not sure if it will damage the material.

      • +18

The same way any company charges for a product with their logo on it.

Its no different to how Nike get away with charging $100 for a $5 T shirt they put a tick on.

At least the bunnings umbrella is far better than any other $12 umbrella, and has outlasted many a cheap ($10) umbrella for the reject shop.

        • Interesting observation, so you're saying people that pay $1000+ for LV handbags and Saint Lauren heels are just paying for walking billboards?

        • Its no different to how Nike get away

          SPOT ON!
And it is not the only one.

Polo branded shirts is the epitome with a logo (polo player and horse) getting bigger and BIGGER and BIGGER.
Years ago was a tiny one.

I guess buyers want to advertise for free.
Like "see how stupid and shallow I am"

Remember a mate who loved Lacoste shirts but the first thing he did was to remove the crocodile logo from the chest before wearing them.
          How things have changed.

          • @LFO: As my brother use to say. If they want me to be their walking billboard. They should pay me.

          • @LFO: It's status signalling, all the way.

"I'm elite because I wear a Polo shirt…" and that's why they pay.

            • @mrhatken: All it its signalling is look at me. I'm an attention seeking douchebag.

        • haaa haaaa you nailed it man!
          What a slap….

      • Normally $0 if it carries a company name,

Only if the company thinks you carrying it wearing it brings them value.

Everything with a logo is a walking billboard based on your description

        • This is exactly the case with supercheap , can't compare it with established brands worth billions

          • +1

            @yaaNaa: You're assuming the umbrella has a $5 value
Perhaps it's a $10 umbrella and you're being subsidised $5 to carry the walking billboard for example.

Again, you're assuming you carrying this walking billboard fully covers the items cost.

      • +1

Yes or no! It depends on the brand. Would you pay for one with Apple logo if you were a Apple fans?!

        • +1

Interesting, if they make 1 then no dramas. Apple will charge $50 I suppose a Bluetooth umbrella with auto off provided when rain stops hitting the umbrella. 😜

      • We'll, most peoples clothing features a brand. This is a $5 umbrella- you're paying to keep the rain off, not to advertise the brand. The reason it's so cheap is because of the branding

      • Better not look at the fashion industry then…

      • same thing with cars, laptops, devices..

    • I still got my woodworm umbrella. My folks got the other 2 in the 3 for $20 deal way back when.

      • +1

All my woodworm umbrellas are now gone. 1 lost 2 broken but really keen on grabbing some more if they have 3 for $20

        • We all miss those deals…

          • +1

@Almost Banned: Strange how the Woodworm deals stopped all of a sudden. Great umbrellas but mine wore out long ago.

  • nothing available around me :(
i wanted to get some umbrellas for my kids for school.

  • Just got a call from them, they say they don't have any in stock and I will have to visit their store for a refund. They said I will even get a confirmation message that its ready to collect but it is actually not and that's the only way it is.
