Is FINDER50 still available? It works out to be cheaper than this one month free deal

  • Is it 4gb or unlimited data?

    • +1

In Australia it's unlimited, when you're abroad you get 4GB

    • +1

Unlimited. If you buy the international travel pack for $20 you get 4GB to use overseas

  • Average outdoor speed (5M-15Mbps) depends on your location, but indoor is pretty bad from my experience, only got (1M -5Mbps)

      thats Vodafone for ya

    • Yeah that's the killer, where I live all 3 networks are pretty great outdoors/traveling but indoors Telstra is the only network that consistently works enough to watch video and I really need the indoor reception as I ditched WiFi years ago. Optus is reasonable but can get pretty bad at times (usually peak evening times) with speeds/connection dropping in and out but Vodafone is like that all the time. If I could get 10-15Mbits unlimited indoors I'd be happy to stop SIM swapping and pay $30-$35 per month happily.

I switched to Vodafone prepaid yesterday from Boost. The purpose is to avail bonus data on Boost when I'll switch back after a month. Here are the observations at my place

        Vodafone 5G (Yes, I got 5G with $30 prepaid SIM)= Download 1.76Mbps
Boost LTE = Average 150~180MBps. I got up to 580Mbps once.

So I am not sure if Vodafone is even worth free.

Everyone's experience with all 3 networks will vary, I mean look at mine on Vodafone prepaid LTE indoors: https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/8188057297
I am sure the majority of people know what network will be acceptable for their usage needs and budget, by now.

Exact same experience as you, the whole appeal of this service (Hotspotting) is pretty much impossible indoors.

Will swap to Kogan or Optus next month.

      • Kogan uses the Vodafone network, and not the full network.

        • -2

          not the full network.

There is no retail/wholesale network separation except on Telstra.

If a reseller uses the Vodafone network it's the full deal.

          • @0jay: Kogan does not have access to Vodafone's 5G network, VoLTE and VoWiFi,

Vodafone branded postpaid & prepaid does.

So no, it's not the same for Kogan.

            • @SimAus007:

              it's the full deal

              • -1

@askbargain: "full deal" - I said full network, AKA complete network, not sure where you pulled "full deal" from.

You cannot get Vodafone 5G, VoLTE, VoWiFi, so it's not the full network (particularly 5G and VoLTE).
I'll let you argue with yourself or you can call Kogan to confirm (their website clearly states only 3G & 4G also).

                • -2

@SimAus007: What you mean is they don’t include 5G (though Kogan are notorious for inaccurate copy). VoLTE and Vowifi are features and nothing to do with a restricted network.

                  • @0jay: They don't include 5G, try it. Take a look at the Whirlpool forums for evidence or grab yourself a cheap SIM.
VoLTE is not available to any Kogan customer, neither is VoWiFi because it's not included, therefore a restriction, so not full network access with 5G or VoLTE. No other way to look at it.

                    • -1

@SimAus007: VoLTE/VoWiFi have naught to do with the network.

Y wanna assert no 5G = restricted network go for y life.

Better to use the random referral code generator so someone else can get a free month too.

    • But that means you pay for the first month.

      • 1 Month Free or $35 Free Credit each for referrer and referee

Looks like both will get credit

        • The code on this deal makes your first month free, but using a referral code makes you pay for the first month and then you get next month free.

  • After a free month, can I cancel to avoid being charged the $35?

    I'm a sim hopper :-)
