One of your HDMI ports will say “ARC”. That’s the port that will support this soundbar (and other ARC compatible soundbars).

I see my TV also has something called and optical port and the bar has this too. Is that another method?

You would want to use the ARC port. It will allow your remote to control everything. That is correct regarding the HDMI port.
Optical is an option but it has limitations.
(No HDMI Link and not as good Dolby/DTS advanced format support)
I believe this soundbar has a HDMI IN, therefore you can plug in the device to the soundbar input and the soundbar HDMI OUT into the ARC port.
HDMI supports automatic control between devices (HDMI Link or a similar feature name depending on manufacturer). For example, turning on your TV will also turn on the soundbar automatically. Same when switching off the TV, the soundbar will power down. It’s a convenient feature. Try that first and you won’t want to go back.
Any significant upgrade to the a80j speakers. Or wait for the HT S400 to come out. Or just use a two ch set up with a pair of ls50W and a sub.

Cheers. I know that. Issue is the centre vs phantom centre speaker argument. I don't have a TV to test at the moment, in the process of moving houses. I've always had floorstanders and a centre speaker for TV/movies but won't have room for them now. For music I'm covered with the ls50s and a sub and was wondering if a soundbar will be any better for TV/movies in the absence of a centre. Unfortunately can't connect a centre to the ls50w. I may as well test when the TV arrives with 2 channel first and go from there.
This makes a bit more sense then. I would definitely see how well your 2ch + sub performs. If you get any improvements in positional cues/audio from a mid range soundbar, I doubt they'd offset the loss in quality/clarity that a far more capable speaker would provide, but it could all be personal taste

Yes if you run it through the ARC/eARC with a capable TV. Make sure you set the Apple TV up to hdr and match the content quality in the Apple TV settings.

I’ve seen YouTube videos which praises it but the comments from owners are saying the dialogue can sound muffled. Which apparently is a Sony thing.
From what I saw. It's not the best $600 sound bar yet better than most $300 sound bars. So I bought it - only cost $312

Yeah this is (profanity). I already marked it as not received a week ago. Im sure ebay can refund me as there is no proof of it being sent. But it's still too good a deal to let go.
I guess they will get definite negative feedback.
I have reported to ebay that tracking number is false and have requested a refund.

@yoshi864: My previous purchases from eBay Sony, the tracking links never worked. The tracking numbers showed up in eBay but no progress after that, even after deliveries completed. In all cases once they had the tracking numbers, they did get delivered.
BTW Sony is very tardy at responding, some of my after sale queries took over a week for a reply. They are not alone. Samsung is the worst of the lot, twice as bad. They took weeks to respond and kept skirting the issue, never really wanted to resolve to customer's satisfaction. I would pick Sony's after sale over Samsung's anyday, from my recent experiences.
@yoshi864: I received a response from Sony ebay. My item is now tracking DHL road express. I am in WA. So making a report to eBay helps to expedite things.
@jamba: I made a report 10 days ago. They just copy and pasted the tracking number that indicates it hasn't moved to the point it doesn't exist.

I have got a response stating DHL is having delivery issues, and everything is done from their end. They are very firm about it.
