Urgh I've been wanting this for so long! Not as good as the 30% sale in July last year but still a decent discount!

Not as good. The Debut is an outstanding entry level turntable. This is just another Audio Technica product for big box stores.
Looking at the same, this or a pro-ject
Pro-ject is the way to go - or Rega apparently :)
The only thing i don't like about my pro-ject, is its a very manual process to change the speed by lifting the platter and physically shifting the belt.Yeah, especially when you start playing a 45rpm when it's still on 33rpm haha.
The Rega P1 goes on sale for just over $500 every now and then, it would be a better buy.
I've never seen the P1 go on sale in Au. Can you tell me which stores you've seen this sort of price, so I can keep a lookout? Thanks!
It's actually on sale right now at Klapp. Off the top of my head, I've seen it go on sale at Addicted to Audio, Carlton Audio Visual, Melbourne Hi-fi for between $490-530, which I would consider a good buy.
Thanks :)
It's a fantastic turntable. I paid full price for it and have no issues with that.
As others have suggested, Pro-ject are another great hi fi manufacturer making modestly priced turntables that are excellent
Pro-ject are great too!
it would be a better buy.
Care to explain why?
Mostly better build quality, components, upgrade paths and community (Planars have been around and loved since the 1970's).
This is more subjective, but I also think the Regas and the Pro-jects look much nicer.
At its current price of $549, how would you compare the P1 to the Audio-Technica ATLPW50PB (currently $524.30) or LP120XBT (currently $534.30)?
I'd personally still go with the P1, it's widely considered to be the best entry level turntable you can buy.
The ATs would be pretty good too, just not as well-built as the P1.
Thanks!
I still have my technical 1210s or whatever in my cellar somewhere!
No idea how much they sell for now! I should of sold my cdjs800 aswell, got a bad habit of shelving stuff and forgetting about it.
I'd be keen on your turntabe :)
I'll never sell, I have thousands of records from my DJing days.
God dam $22 a vinyl, but I have a fair few collectables now.
How does this compare to the project debut classic?
Edit: This is very subjective - I've just thought about my question more. I've upgraded parts of my debut classic - e.g. perspex platter, 2m blue. So is this compatible with those parts, and if so - what would be the benefits over the classic with those upgrades?
