  • Maybe play Elden ring first.

    • Yeah definitely, this will just end up making a fine addition to my backlog

  • +1

Should play dark souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro before you touch elden ring imo. By that time you'd be very comfortable with those games and grab elden ring for cheap too

I Think Nioh and Nioh 2 are good souls like games as well, abiet a little bit easier

    • +2

I've played Bloodborne, Sekiro and Demon's Souls remake but for whatever reason I completely missed all the Dark Souls games…

      • +2

I was in the same boat and played ds1 not long ago and I was surprised at how good it was. I always heard ds1 was a masterpeice but didn't think I would think that since its pretty old now. Crazy how well its aged. Would highly recommend playing ds1

  • I want to buy this but is it as hard as everyone says. Got sekiro and got stuck right at the first major fight.

If you've never done dark games.. be prepared to spend 3-4 days on the first boss.

Picked up bloodborne and took me close to 15 hours over 3 days killing father Gascoi. I tell you what thought, the sense of achievement you get after killing him is indescribable ..

      Well worth it.

      • Bloodbornes satisfaction just hits different

  • So are dark souls as hard as sekiro

    • +2

I found dark souls much easier than Sekiro. I've finished them all but couldn't finish Sekiro but maybe I'm just bad.

    • +1

Dark souls you can out level the content, Sekiro you kinda need to know the mechanics, Sekiro is definitely harder but they're both great games.

Add to this list God of War and that's quite a satisfying backlog if you can get past in the initial 'walls' in these games.

  • I have been putting a few hours into DS3 the last few weeks in preparation for Elden Ring. I have finished DS1 and DS2, and bought DS3 on release day in 2016. Here we are 6 years later and I still haven't finished it! Midir and Slave Knight Gael still live and I have 2 days left to beat them!

  • Tempted to buy this but don’t have a PS5 yet, might just wait for it to hopefully drop some more

  • I'd never played any of these, nor Blood borne or Sekiro, when I bought this last year. I thought I'd start at Dark Souls 1 remaster and really struggled to get into it. Lasted about an hour and then haven't been back. Even with the remaster, the graphics are not good given it's a really old game, and having never played it I'm not getting the nostalgia others experience.

Question for others, should I press on or would I be better trying to start with something more recent like maybe Bloodborne?

    • There's a lot of great stuff in DS1, some real fun bosses. depends how important the graphics are to you. I have some great memories of all 3 games but nothing in gaming tops the feeling of accomplishment when you finally beat the boss that's been stopping you for ages. For me that boss was Ornstein & Smough in DS1. I had a similar feeling with Pontiff Sulyvahn in DS3. You can't do too much in one hour. Get a few bosses in and then decided whether its for you. DS is certainly not for everyone but for me its up there with my all time favourite games, possibly the best.
