Just to note : this is a 4 DISC SET - whilst the 6 disc set with all the extras is only a few pounds more

    http://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/alien-anthology-box-set/1022702…

    • ^ Worth it IMHO for the extras :)

If your into that stuff that is…

      • I completely agree Brent. The 6 disc edition comes with alternate/extended versions of every movie, including the less common alternate versions of Alien 3 which puts a different spin on it, and Alien Resurrection has a different ending.

There's also an awesomely honest documentary on Alien 3 where they discuss at length the problems they went through, and why they were not completely happy with the finished movie.

Otherwise, it really is an "if you're into that stuff" thing. I definitely am, but some may not. And for those who are not this is a great price for a set of great movies.

    • @tonyjg: I hate you. Wasn't going to buy the anthology, then saw your post! :D

    • A few pounds- like double the price or $15 more.

Good spot, I bought this instead. Thanks.

  • Wow, this keeps getting cheaper and cheaper, saw it for around 15pounds on thehut and zavvi yesterday and thought that was a bargain! Will definitely be buying

    • Nevermind I was looking at the 6 disc set. Still really cheap though!

Another movie coming out soon so they are probably going to release another box set, good price none-the-less!

    • If you're referring to Prometheus, don't get your hopes up it's not an Alien movie. It's going to happen in the same universe, but I highly doubt it gets paired with an Alien box set. BARGAIN

      • yeah at first i thought it was a aliens prequel but it looks like its completely different.

what is not happening in the same universe?

Great deal and I would buy it if I weren't so afraid of the Alien's series. Alien was out when I was in my teens and that scarred me for life!

    • lol

  • It's region free too btw for people with international PS3s or bluray players. Also don't worry about Prometheus making the boxsets redundant, it's set in the same universe but has bugger-all to do with Xenos.

A good deal it was… They changed the price from 14.95 and 19.95 AFTER I have added it to my basket. It's now more expensive than Amazon.uk Nothing special. I was going to buy a few items from Zavvi but changed my mind after the price of the item was altered during the order process. Don't think I'll be shopping with them them again unless they have some fantastic specials (and they keep their price) until the check out is complete…

    • No site I've seen has kept the price even though you put it in your basket?
Basically the price has expired. No reason for a neg.

    • This deal is still active…. your neg is not even for this product

    • I think it's unfortunate to have the price change after you've put the item in the basket. This is most likely a software engineering oversight and ought to be fixed. But that's not a good reason to neg, as that impacts on the poster and his rating. The deal was a good one and it was right that the OP brings it to our attention.

Incidentally I once had a petrol station in Adelaide change the price on the bowser after I pulled up to pump some fuel in. That wasn't legal in my state and I argued with them, but they said they could do it.

      • as a software engineer, (in training) I resent that :P

but really, if you've had the page open, and the price has expired, and then you add it to the cart, its not unfair to expect that the price in the cart will reflect the current price.

I don't see why that doesn't make sense.

        • I've been programming for 30 years, but I take no offence at your criticism; it's constructive.

My take, is… while your in the store eyeing the products/prices and deciding what to put in your cart, the price is an important part of the criteria.

So, lets say your in a bricks and mortar store. You select things and get to the checkout/register and the nice young girl says "oh that item has gone up". You would be well within your rights to insist that it be charged as marked. In fact I understand that laws to that effect were brought in when barcode pricing came in (probably before your time). Because people were afraid of exactly that thing - they would get to the checkout and have it charged at some other price.

The reason we have this pricing model in the first place is no doubt a result of the physical implementation/origin ie a shop keeper going around labeling products with a price. Now that most things are done electronically we still stick to the old model because it's well established, understood, etc.
It's also quite appropriate, unless you have extreme volatility in pricing eg the stock market. There you have to bid for goods and accept that you may or may not get them, or put in an open bid for the qty and accept the price that you get seeing as it's a moving target. It's clear that the stock market and indeed other markets, auctions like ebay play by those rules.

So, I do think the price of items in basket (up until a basket expires) ought to be honoured because there is an obligation to honour what you warranted to be the price. This can be programmed in, and the extra effort will help to provide employment for people like yourself.

  • I just bought three 2 minutes ago at a total of $48 aud.
