beware guys. you are dealing with megabuy

  • Hm, looks like the RAM is going through as $20.00 + $0.95 shipping instead of $20.95 w/ free shipping. Not sure why atm, but it shouldn't effect anything as it's the same price :)

    -MegaBuy

    • +1

I don't think $20.95 is under $20. Please change the title (or the price).

      • Oh woops, sorry I meant the USB is going through as that! Brain not functioning properly! Sorry!

Any chance to get discount on DDR2 Laptop RAM?

  • Will this Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333MHz Laptop RAM - $19.90 w/ Free Shipping! work in a late 2011 macbook pro?

    • Hey there Lenneth,

Head over to the Kingston memory selector and enter in your specific model name at http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/mfrmod.asp?…

I'm not too familiar with what memory MacBook Pro's can use, someone else might be able to confirm for you :)

      Cheers!
      MegaBuy

    • +1

      I think it will.

    • It will fit into all the 2010 and 2011 MacBook pros, it will also fit into the Mac mini

      • Will be okay for 2011 Macbook Pro, but not 2010, you need PC3-8500 DDR3 1066 MHz for 2010.

  • Anymore deals on Microservers Megabuy?

  • Took 3 weeks to deliver the last time i ordered DDR3 notebook RAM from Megabuy

    • +5

      Hi morbus,

Sorry to hear that, we had some good feedback on our delivery times for most people on the last deal. However we do send the RAM out through Australia Post. We endeavour to have it to everyone within a few days but once again we're sorry it was delayed for whatever reason. If you need anything in future feel free to email me at [email protected] and we will see if we can work out a discount for you or free shipping etc.

      Cheers,
      MegaBuy

I still haven't received my OzB RAM deal from Feb, just repetitive emails. Better get cracking with my solicitor.

      • Hi there,

Can you please email me your order number to [email protected] and I'll look into why it has been delayed.

        Sorry for any inconvenience,
        MegaBuy

  • laptop ram on the website shows $19.90 when add 2 to cart end up with the total $47.24 and price per module changes to 23.62??? And tried the add 1, price changes to 23.62.

    • Hi,

I dont understand this to be honest, some kind of glitch.

Would you mind placing 2 orders for 1 piece?

Otherwise we will have the web team fix this up in the morning.

      Apologies,

      Megabuy

      • same happens with 1, price changes to 23.62

        • Hi,

theres an error in the shopping cart, but when you click through and checkout fully, the price will drop down to 19.90 free shipping:)

          MegaBuy

      • It will work with 2 pieces, but you need to click all the way through and the price will drop before payment.

Just ordered one of the desktop ram. Thanks for the non-trip to MSY.

    • It won't save you a trip to the ACCC or Fair Trading :)

        • +6

A bit tactless for any rep to be casting stones at competing stores, and more so for a MegaBuy rep.

For balance, here's a link to Whirlpool discussion of MegaBuy's monumentally crap attempt at preventing competition on Microservers last year: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1697165

        • +2

Your argument here appears to be that it's ok to provide appalling customer service, because damnit, other IT hardware companies have done the same in the past.

          gg, and fu.

        • +2

I got to say, the fact that you posted these links rather put me off buying from you.

Yep, MSY was fined for breaching some rules about advertising, but they were not fined for actually providing sub-standard service…

Funny, isn't it. The rules focus on the paperwork not on the actual actions. A sad country we live in.

  • +12

You got a + from me because it is a good deal, but one thing i hate is this marketing bullsh!t statements like "With these prices we must be insane!". Do you really need to write that in. It tends to put me off a deal a lot and reminds me of those sleazy telemarketers and those stupid ads we see on TV saying how a deal goes only for say 20 minutes and to call now to score a bargain. Are they saying that if i'm late by 1 minute they are not going to sell it to me at that price anyway. Load of BS.
Rant over, so neg me if you will for it.

    • +5

Thanks for the +1 - good honest feedback, We removed the part you didnt like. :)

  • I love exclamation marks in titles.

    • +1

      Yeah, me too.

It wastes characters that could be otherwise used to make the thread title more interesting!!!!!!

      • Hey there,

Thanks for the feedback. Wasting characters? I originally had commas there, would you prefer no breaks between the items at all?

Let me know for future deals,
        MegaBuy :)

        • Megabuy - 4GB DDR3 $exactprice; 32GB USB $20.95; Projector Bundle $499; + Bonus Gifts and Free Ship

          Was that so hard?

        • +4

The current title looks so much better than your suggestions.

  • +2

Good deal just ordered some RAM for my Microserver. Unfortunately have no where to use a projector now days.

    • Glad you liked the deal!

    • Did you buy the ECC RAM or just the el cheapo for $19.90?

  • I'll take Microserver ram for $19.90 each with free shipping, you can keep the projector.

    • -2

      Hahaha, nice try :)

  • OP: any chance to do a slightly better deal on the Microserver RAM? (a few $ off or free shipping perhaps)

    http://www.megabuy.com.au/kingston-4gb-ddr3-1333mhz-sdram-fo…

    I don't need a projector ;-)

  • +1

I just bought a data projector for my office. I wish this deal was around. I was looking pretty hard at the AU market but could not find anything this good especially with the media player in the bundle. Usually you only get 800 x 600 for this sort of price (what I ended up getting). Looks a great deal if you need a data projector and plenty of freebies too.

    • =( we had the bundle up last week though, although I think it wasn't free shipping and there was no gift.

Hope everything works out for you,

      Megabuy

      • Thanks yeah I ordered maybe 3-4 weeks ago. Still I'll keep an eye here for more deals with cheers.

  • +1

    Megabuy.

Good luck to those that have purchased.

  • Is the elcheapo $19.90 RAM suitable for use in a microserver?

    • Yes, I bought the same Kingston RAM for my N36L. The N40 should be the same, but check the forums, perhaps it needs ECC RAM now.

      • Well, it comes with 2GB ECC RAM.

The question now: spend $40 to buy 4GB ECC RAM to bring the total on board to 6GB ECC.

Or spend $40 for 8GB non-ECC RAM, resulting in 8GB non-ECC on board with a spare (throw away?) 2GB ECC?

Or spend $20 for 4GB non-ECC and see if the memory controller can handle the combination of 2GB ECC with 4GB non-ECC.

        Too many options :-P

  • +3

I bought the same one for $43 from here:
    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/kingston-kvr1333d3n9-4…

Much better from them I suppose. Will never buy from Negabuy.

  • Can i use the laptop Ram for my Lenovo G560 i3-370M bought early last year from MLN?

  • +2

    -ve, never again with Megabuy

    • whys that, they like cotd?

  • If you buy from these clowns you deserve to lose your money.
Don't believe a word they say!

    You have been warned!

Yes this is my first ever comment.

    • +1

yes , the kingston ram is compatible with the N53sv

  • +1

They charge 2.5% handling fees for paypal… What is that for… Have never paid handling fees for paypal

    • Paypal charges them for being a merchant, and they pass on this cost to you.

      • I thought Paypal didn't allow charging to use Paypal. Or is that just when used on Ebay..?

        • paypal/ebay charge sellers left right and center … many sellers simply pass some or all of the charges on

  • Does anyone know if the laptop ram is compatible with a HP DV4-3030TX?
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c0278705…

The Kingston Memory Selector recommended KTH-X3B/4G. Is there a difference between KTH-X3B/4G and the Megabuy Laptop RAM - KVR1333D3S9/4G?

    • +1

      its compatible with the DV4
the megabuy ram is kingston's value range which rarely shows up in the the kingston selector

      • Cool, Thanks :o)

      • +1

Thanks for clearing that up for brisgirlsm, rudebutt1. :)
