  • Is this a Roland clone?

    Are the samples Roland?

    • These kits are very much the same kind of thing but these are not made by Roland, the samples will be different too. Roland kits start at RRP $999 so they focus more on the intermediate to pro kits.

      Thanks!

My post was made in error so I just replaced it with 'delete'. Didn't mean to suggest delete the deal - sorry :)

        • No prob!

  • Is this compatible with Guitar Hero and other music games?

    • Hi EarlyBird,
That’s actually a really good question that we do get asked from time to time. We’ve never tested them on guitar hero but I’ve been told they do work. Unfortunately I can’t guaranty that though. Sorry about that!

      Thanks!!

if it was me I'd stick to the guitar hero kit, this config is slightly diff and will NOT give you any competitive EDGE…, rather more effort needed into playing better with a semi-pro drum kit like this…

    • Most electric kits with a midi-out can be used with Rock Band 3 with the right adapter. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Rock-Band-Midi-PRO-Adapter/dp…

I've used the "Legacy" brand version of this kit with RB3. Makes it more authentic, but its harder to get good scores, and you need to work hard to tweak the sensitivity on the midi adapter so that you get the sweet spot where you don't get too many double hits but still register all normal hits.

I take my hi hat off to the OP. I was thinking of snaring this deal as it beats most other prices on the net. The price stopped me resting when I rolled over and saw this offer.

      Boom tish indeed.

would like to see a video demo of this being played. ive played higher range kits and had little enjoyment out of it, but for this price would consider.

    • If they do the demo video like those exercise machines on TV with the models working out with the big smiles would that sway you?

but seriously OP can you buy another brands gel trigger pad and connect it to this model? maybe a better natural rebound would increase enjoyment?
I tried one http://www.nextag.com/Yamaha-TCS-Snare-Pad-799226256/prices-… and liked it better than even the roland mesh trigger

      • You can but that'll only improve the feel, not the sound. There's a reason why Yamaha and Roland kits are way more expensive, mainly because of the brain, quality of triggers and the sound samples.

We sold over 170 of these kits over Xmas so they are very popular and do have their place in the market but if you need internediate quality then you will need to pay For that. There's no short cuts : )

        I hope that helps.

        Thanks!!

    • Keef,

I'll see if I can find anything.

    • @Keef - here's a good vid of a DD402. Same kit except it has a Guitar Hero style kick pedal instead of a pad and proper kick pedal.

      • thanks mate. Soundslike poo, but what can you expect for $229? Used to have a dtxpress III special, didnt like it much. Would a like a Roland one day.

        • Agreed…samples aren't the best. I'm trying to sell my acoustic kit for a Roland. The acoustic kit is packed up in bags so trying to decide whether or not I just buy this to tie me over until the Roland.

  • This model is more commonly known as the Legacy DD402D - http://www.allansbillyhyde.com.au/prod/LEDD402D/Legacy_DD402…

As mentioned by the rep, it is definitely an entry level kit.

Rep, just to confirm…can the kick pedal be swapped with a different pedal?

    • Yea we also sell the Legacy kits, same thing, dif name.

These kits have a latch that connects the kick pedal to the kick pad but you can use other kick pedals if you like. Some customers even use double kick pedals. We will be doing a Legacy kit and double kick package is coming up in late May.

      • Thanks…definitely better for beginners to use a proper kick pedal rather than one of the Guitar Hero type pedals.

Why do you sell the Legacy branded model for $50 more?

And which double kick pedal will be in the package? DW 9000? :)

        • Haha, nice try Stix but no : ) We'll confirm details in May but it will be a good deal.

I'm not sure if you are aware but the pedals that come with these are not like the guitar hero pedals, these are pretty much the same chain driven pedals that most acoustic players use but they have that latch to connect that's all. Sometimes the beater may be a little different to suit the pad.

I can't go into pricing info with you but let's just say we work hard on each item to get the best potable price.

        • Yep, that's what I saying. It's good that this kit comes with a proper kick pedal pad rather than the Guitar Hero style.

The youtube video I posted is the DD402 which is the same kit as the DD402D except the DD402 has the Guitar Hero style kick pedal.

Thanks for the quick replies! Cheers

Grabbed one as a present for my dad with the stool. A pretty good deal!

  • are you able to post pic of the brain? just want to see all available connections.

    • Hi Farrba, the link that Stix posted is not really the same kit or the same brain. That Lagacy in the vid was a generation 1 but this kit is gen 4, better kick pedal, brain, chokable crash, upgraded frame and sound samples are better also.
One more thing, I've never had a problem with the latest model so they are made well.

      http://www.promusicaustralia.com/drum/CB_Hds/cb700_front_pan…

      Thanks!!

      • I can't find a photo of the back panel but here's the info
BACK PANEL: Midi Out, Output L/Mono, Output Right, AUX/CD
Line in ,3.5 Standard Headphones Jack, Trigger Input
        Connector, USB Connection Pin.

  • Interested but I have two questions:

    1) Do you know of any software that works with the kit? Especially those that can help a beginner learn drums?

    2) Will you be able to offer an additional discount for in store pick up?

    • Hi,

There is a demo song to play along with but I'd recommend getting a method book and/or drum teacher.

      Sorry no extra discount.

      Thanks!
