Bose QuietComfort SC Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones $249.95 Delivered @ Bose

730

It's my first post! Go easy.

Good deal on Bose QuietComfort SCs. Have been waiting for these to go on sale for a while. Found them to be slightly better than XM4s when I compared them side-by-side.

Note the SC model has a 'soft case'. It's otherwise identical to the standard Bose QuietComfort headphones.

  • How's the mic? Horrendous on xm4.

    • +2

Better but still average per my link below.

    • I've only just got my pair of these but have used the qc35 for around 5 years of WFH for meetings and never had an issue. I've had coworkers with the same issue on XM4s though, at least one of them ended up returning them it was so bad.

      • +1

Yeah I also had the 35s with no issue, but I do trust tech firms to make tech worse over time.

  • +2

Been a flurry of 50% off sales for these headphones in the last couple of days!

They aren't bad, and strangely I do not find them as comfortable as the XM4s (I bought the QCs for my wife when they hit <$200 last year).

Sound wise, I have the XM4s above these and would buy another set of XM4s if at the same price (my current set are getting on a bit), or may wait for a healthy discount to the XM5s when the XM6 is released in a few months.

    • +1

      maybe head size.
feels loose with Bose and XM4 fits good.

      • Bose good for larger heads and ears
        XM4 is smaller.

My ears are slightly too long for a comfy fit on XM 4/5 and no regrets getting my QC45 a couple of years ago.

        • aha - SONY designed from Japanese (smaller) heads ? Ah so … !

Bose for bigger heads - well I've been told I'm very intelligent, but didn't Think I had a big head about it … ;-)

but yes my big ears touched the bottom of the earcup on SONY which was excruciatingly painful after an hour or more, whereas the Bose has a deeply angled earcup (25mm) where my ears don't touch, which is comfortable for 10-hour flights I have taken multiple times.

          • @Hangryuman: Yep, forgot to mention the earcups are also deeper. The sacrifice in sound quality or NC (which I likely wouldnt notice unless back to back testing them) is worth the ability to wear for extended periods :)

    • +1

I find these way more comfortable than xm4, my ears become hot and sweaty using xm4 for some time. Whereas, can use these for hours and no issues

I’ve had both. And the Bose is lighter and way more comfortable for long listening sessions. I feel Sony sound was slightly better but they look a lot more bulky on the head than the Bose. Bose wins my choice. Bose feel like your wearing nothing on your head, very light.

    • +3

having both. thanks JB sale last year.

comfy is very similar after few super long haul flights. XM4 wins by convenience.

if sound and/or ANC is important XM4,

      if paid $250, XM4

      if paid sub $200, Bose.

  • Why are these always on sale? I picked some up for 150 from JB. They are good, but why are these on sale often but the non SC are?

    • Same could be said about the Google Nest WiFi Pro. They're probably trying to clear excess stock.

You can return a used headphone lol?

      • 90-day return policy²

Take some time, make sure that it’s the right product for you.

Buy one for OS trip, claim TRS, return to bose when your back. Profit

          • @easternculture: Smart. Will ATO knock on your door soon though?

          • @easternculture: depends the value of your disposable time (outside full-time job, preparation, travel time, etc.)

I once estimated mine at about $20 per hour

but now with more funds I'm considering it more like $100/hour.

in other words unless it saves me more than $33 I don't want to spend 20 minutes thinking about it.

    • Where wqs the cashback?

    • Some poor bugger will get a used one =(

    Ultra or this?

    • +1

Hardly any difference to justify the price premium: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/bose-quietco…

      • +1

Thanks for this, I always thought ultras were far superior.

    • +1

I’ve had both and recommend the SCs due to controls alone. The ultra controls are infuriating.

    • I've both and Ultra has a deeper sound and reaction is more rich. Comparing with the price, SC still good but don't expect it will give you a punch.

      • What do you mean by 'reaction'?

I'm just comparing these to my old XM2s, and I do love the sound signature on the Sonys more for rock/metal over the QCs but everything else about the QCs.

currently same price on amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CXJBH48R

I have two of these, absolutely love them except for the fact that the seams of the earpads start to tear open after a few months. Yes, I'm a heavy user of them but it's a bit ridiculous that I have to keep buying new ear pads every few months. Never had this issue with any other headphones in the past. OEM replacements are expensive, so trying out a whole lot of third-party replacements to see if I can settle on any that are at least close to the oem ones in terms of comfort and ANC quality.

    • You can get stitched lamb leather earpads and you wont have to change em

      • I think those would compromise the ANC on them though.

    • +1

Same happens with the ultras. As soon as they start tearing I get Bose support to send me a new free pair. With a Bose price-tag, they can keep swapping them til the cows come home.

      • -2

        Did they need pic evidence

        • Yes

        • +1

my man's trying to get some earpads for free for no reason

      • how many times has it worked? do you still need to be in warranty?

    • +1

at least they're replaceable. not sure if it's different now, but Beats were designed to not be replaceable by the user. you had to carefully remove the adhesive and then install aftermarket pads

    • update: I think I found some good ones finally. Had two arrive from different ebay sellers today: One was complete trash, the other was very close to the original in terms of comfort and ANC.
