          • @samelight: I honestly would trade my s21+ for your s20 fe, but the thing is I can make good coin on this shit phone If I sell it on facebook marketplace, so I'd rather just buy an s20 fe outright after flipping this s21+, sorry man!

This. We need to show Samsung that removal of SD card is a terrible move

    • How do you get the S22 for 50% off?

      • Friend works at good guys they get 50% off flagship.

    • how do you get 50% off s22? which deal? Cheers

      • Friend works at good guys they get 50% off flagship.

Just got this price beat by officeworks at $599, super happy!

    • Here is something to upset u,
u can get Asus Zenfone 8 or moto edge 20 pro for $599 just no long ago from jb-hifi.

      • not gonna upset anyone since you no longer can get it for that price?

        • No its the other way around, ppl upset becoz they missed,
if still on sale then they got nothing to upset about.

      • +1

Why is that upsetting? Are they significantly better?

I was looking at the moto edge 20 pro and it doesn't have wireless charging.

        • -2

Yes they are better, 2021 flagship vs 2020 budget flagship it's significant.
Ofcoz u could pick on the small things like no wireless charging, but it won't change the fact that they got better builds; processers, cam, ram, storage and dual sim.
S20 fe still using Gorilla Glass 3 and 12mp cam, this is something u can't even see in a 2021 mid range phone.

          • @samelight: Other than the CPU, I am not sure Zenfone 8 is better in every way. Smaller display and battery. Lack USB 3.0 support (Zenfone 8 is USB 2 only) and no SD card support. The camera lenses, not exactly current gen and no telephoto and relying on digital zoom to compensate. Check reviews and DxO mark review, I wouldn't consider Zenfone 8 camera that much better (I guess if you care about slow mo videos, Asus didn't hold back like Samsung did on the FE). Storage size is the same: 128GB. No wireless charging. Snapdragon 888, while faster, does generate more heat and has a higher chance to be thermal throttled.

Also, to get Android 12 on Zenfone 8, it is a manual firmware update process for now I think (correct me if I am wrong).

Zenfone 8 cuts corners too. Technically, at the time of the sale, there were discount gift cards available to lower the price a bit further. I don't get why Qualcomm insists on having Samsung doing the CPU fabrication nowadays for their flagship CPUs. Is it because Qualcomm is dominating the Android chipset market so they don't really need to push the CPU to the max?

            • -1

@netsurfer: Here is something u should know,
if u don't push the CPU to the max and beyond the max, 888's heat problem is not a problem, and without the heat problem 888 is much much better the 865.
For the cam, u wouldnt say is that much better but at least we could agreed on it's better?
              S20 fe don't have android 12 yet.
When u saying no SD card, u forgot about the dual sim? It just a trade off.
same as the wireless charging, u forgot about how much ram they had?
For me to pick I will choose ram over the wireless charging.
talking about cut corners, dude whats worse then the Gorilla Glass 3?

      • Lol no, this phone is exactly what I wanted. I have been looking for a bargain for some time now and here it is. Very happy with my purchase, I can finally retire my poor old S8.

Austax - Just got this price beat by officeworks at $599, super happy!

Does Officeworks sell the S20 FE 5G Snapdragon 865 Dual Sim version ?

      • I don't think so, mine wasn't. Don't quote me on this but I believe only the grey imports are dual sim.

        • Thanks mate

  • Got a price match at JB Hifi. Finally found a deal to use a bunch of discounted TCN gift cards stacked with ZIP Pay cashback I got over a year ago..

    • Hey mate I tried this last time and they told me they won't price match Amazon au cause it can be sold by a 3rd party or some shit. I spoke to different staff members too

      • Yeah I was surprised myself. I had expected a 'no' - but 'asked for a deal' (as they advertise) anyway. The supervisor looked it up and checked that it was sold by Amazon AU (I assume as opposed to a third party seller) and that it was free shipping, and that seemed to be ok for them. YMMV.

Had mine for a few months now which replaced my S8+. Great phone, haven't had any issues with it so far, can recommend.

  • Thanks op
Wife complaining her 3yr old P20 Pro was playing up, so this should be a decent replacement

I've had this phone for about 8 months:
    The Good:
It makes phone calls - no call issues
    Battery good
    water proof'ish (IP68?)
Monthly updates - security until at least 2024

I've got the 6 gig version. Don't play games. Mainly browsing/productivty/flipboard - always have piles of apps running. No performance issues. I've seen comments in past where people say 'it slows down' - I'd love to know what people are running, but again I don't game on it.
NFC/payment works fine - interesting note that this is apparently the last Samsung phone that supports Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). This basically emulates a mag stripe reader - not much of an issue in Australia but might be useful for travelling in countries with less NFC..

Rear cameras are fine - get reasonable quality in low light. Selfie camera appears pretty average - if it's dark'ish can barely see anything.
Fingerprint reader pretty average - it's not as if it takes forever but it's hardly lightning fast. Facial recognition pretty average but does recognise me with bike helmet on, so I'll give it that.
It has 120mhz refresh but honestly don't notice difference between that and 90 - yes it's smoother when scrolling but I honestly don't notice it in practice since usually reading static text. I keep it on 90mhz for better battery life.

It has Dex.. which is kinda novel but feels a bit clunky overall since most Android apps don't really swap between big screens very well. MS Office apps do work well with it though.

However a very useful productivity feature is Your Phone.. this is a (very badly marketed) Microsoft Windows product which allows you to run Android apps from desktop and synchronises messaging. This is great for work in Windows environment - for any 2FA/MFA SMS message you see right away on PC. You can cut/paste into apps! So you can cut paste from SMS messages. You can compose/send text messages from keyboard - which is a God send for longer messages. You can browse the phone from desktop and start any Android app.. again it's a huge time saver being able to type Whatsapp messages from keyboard - as well as cut/paste between Android apps and Windows.

If there's anything don't like it is.. Samsung Free.. according to Samsung it is 'Your everyday media essentials all gathered in one. Samsung Free combines your TV, games, news and podcasts into one easy source of content you can access with'

In Australia Samsung Free just uses Taboola news.. which is click bait garbage. And can't seem to customise it to anything else. This isn't a show stopper since you have to turn it on manually and not forced to use it but it really is junk.

    • Would it run Pokemon Go all right in split screen mode, or would it struggle? My current S9 crashes the app when I have two Pokemon Go open and try to switch between them….

Can anyone confirm if they ordered from Amazon the S20 FE 5G Snapdragon 865 and if its a Dual Sim version ?

    • Model Number: SM-G781BZBIATS

      thats the one sim version
      https://www.samsung.com/au/smartphones/galaxy-s/galaxy-s20-f…

      • -1

I saw that mentioned earlier but if you look at some of the posts on Amazon people say they got a Dual SIM version.

Hence why I am asking for those that actually got one delivered from Amazon as opposed to just posting the Samsung link

        • -1

the reviews ar mixed with many versions,
u c when u click on the 4g version the model number change too?
so u ar getting the one with the same model number as u selected, other ppl from the review may not be the same.

  • Still showing as $631 at Bing Lee but out of stock
    https://www.binglee.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g…

You should be able to price match at OW, JB etc

    • You could ask for a price match even it's a out of stock item?

      • Well, you can always ask, but whether they'll actually match is another story. I have a feeling it would be unlikely given it's showing as OOS on Bing Lee and you can't actually get it at that price anymore

  • Still waiting for Amazon to ship this, its missed 2 shipping 'expected' days so far

  • Anyone order and receive this yet?
My delivery date keeps getting pushed back :/
